Please make sure you research the temp agency before you start working for them! I witnessed Avitek Recruit and it's employees engaging in many unprofessional acts. There were several instances of employees coming into the office upset because they were not paid or not paid on time or not paid in full for the hours they worked! I witnessed management ignoring calls/texts of employees who were upset. This was unacceptable! I had a young man come in one day and say that he was not paid for the time he had worked which caused him to be late on his rent so he had to move out of his home. I also witnessed the employer and managers training their employees to only hire men for all of the assignments that involved lifting or other rigorous activity. If it looked like a woman's name on the online application they were not called. There were so many times I had older men and women come in looking for a job and as soon as they left I was told by my manager, Armando, that they were not hirable because of their age. There was so much sexism, prejudice, and racism that went on in this office. The recruiters were told to have new candidates come in to the office to complete the application and come in for an "interview" just to see what the candidate looked like. Candidates were not placed in jobs if they had tattoos, if they wore traditional clothing, if they had a physical impairment, if they were older, or if they had work experience in security or home care because they were considered "lazy." But after all, all of the jobs they were placing people in were hard labor or light/industrial jobs not office jobs. Armando, the manager, had a soft spot for only those who spoke Spanish. If they spoke any other language he did not care to hire them because they would not be "successful" at the jobsite. I was told to turn away many great candidates just because Armando or Rodrigo did not like them. Avitek Recruit is the most unprofessional workplace environment I have ever experienced.
