The price is reasonable and we are even getting an automatic :) UPDATE: We Love our car. It only has 10k miles and smells brand new. I was to pay $428.28 USD for the week when I picked up the car. There was no reference to payment in Swiss Francs. When I picked up the car in June, Europcar charged me 379 CHF (I now suspect the equivalent value of $428.12 of Swiss Francs in January 2025). That sum (379 CHF) converted to $479.93 because of the devalued dollar. Now, I can well understand having to pay in Swiss Francs if my contract called for payment in Swiss Francs, and I would have done so without a thought. But my contract was in US Dollars only; there was never a reference anywhere in the contract to Swiss Francs; and I never agreed to pay Swiss Francs. Both Europcar and I agreed in a binding contract for payment in USD of $428.12. Long story short, I was taken for $50 dollars. This is a relatively small amount, but it is the principal of the matter, and this speaks volumes about the character of this company. I expected Europcar to be something much more than an extremely small and petty enterprise. Very disappointed!

Avoid the Bait & Switch with Europcar - Zurich Airport, Kloten :…read more Reserving a vehicle on their website was easy and pleasant. After this point, the experience was annoying and frustrating. Upon arrival and picking up our reserved vehicle, Europcar agent did not have the vehicle or "similar" available and attempted to UP-SELL to a more expensive vehicle with a MUCH higher security deposit (several thousand dollars!) which places a major hold on your available credit funds. If you have a limit on your Credit Card (because the majority of us do not hold a "black card"), this becomes a major issue. The agent became frustrated because of not having the available security deposit and offered us to provide several credit cards to meet the deposit requirement. This seems to be an unacceptable method of operation. Standing in line, observed that this was the same attempt with other customers who was there to pick up their reserved vehicle and their frustration was apparent. When doing our required safety inspection, discovered that Europcar vehicles do not include a spare tire. Was informed that the vehicles are equipped with "Run-Flat" tires and not needed. Nonetheless, this is an issue because Run-Flats are meant to operate to approximately 50Miles(80KM) at reduced speeds when punctured or damaged. So what is one to do without a spare? If you are traveling long distances in Europe and get a flat, you end up in a bad way with huge delays. When we received our rental bill via email, there was an additional charge (compared to our printed receipt at rental return) without any explanation. Nothing to do with fuel as we topped off at the petrol station not more than a mile away. Absolutely terrible way to start off an epic vacation as soon as you arrive.

BIG SCAM ARTISTS!!…read more Absolutely unacceptable experience with Hertz in Zurich airport. I rented a car from Interlaken for just a few hours (Interlaken to Zurich airport. No issues were mentioned at pickup or drop-off (key dropbox). Then the next day, I was hit with a 550 CHF (~$700 USD) charge for a scratch I did NOT cause. They claim there was a tiny 1/2-inch scratch under the front right bumper. However, the pickup report already showed existing damage on the front bumper--so this could very well have been pre-existing. Hertz ignored that and blamed me anyway. Even worse, they provided NO clear before-and-after photo evidence proving I caused the damage. Despite disputing the charge, they still took my $700 money. This feels like a dishonest and predatory practice--charging customers without solid proof and hoping they won't fight it. Seems like this SCAM is happening many, many, many times over based on past reviews. Take photos and videos of EVERYTHING (especially under the bumpers) if you rent from here. What car doesn't have scratches underneath it!!??? I strongly recommend avoiding Hertz and using other companies like SIXT or Europcar or Misho Car rental instead.

DO MOT RENT FROM HERE! They enjoy punishing US tourists!!!…read more We experienced the same "scam" that others have related in these reviews! Bogus preexisting minor body scratches and alloy wheel rim scuffs that we're not on the vehicle condition contract when departing However upon after hours drop off numerous "chargeable damage " scuffs less than 10 mm were annotated and charged $1680 US dollars to repair! Ridiculous cost and fabrication Rental was 8:29/25-9/1/25 only drove 128 miles total & never parked on a city street ! Sent my video airport departure evidence and was disregarded. Btw we did take the CDW/LDW hertz insurance but they said it did not cover those scratches or scuffs

Our experience was on the whole…read morevery positive -- both vehicles worked well and the company was promptly responsive by email or WhatsApp throughout the trip to any questions we had. We were not initially aware of the extra mileage fee but ended up moving ahead with the rental as Rentava worked with us to establish what seemed like a fair price. Future renters should make careful note of the fact that damages to the vehicle lead to a standard deductible of 2000 CHF. If you pay for the all-round carefree package (which we did), the deductible is reduced to 500 CHF and waives damages to glass, tires, rims and loss of keys. In our case, we narrowly avoided another vehicle hurtling towards us on a narrow road in south of Switzerland by squeezing to the extreme edge of the road -- in so doing we grazed the guardrail and scratched the paint on the right front bumper of the vehicle. We were hopeful that in consideration of the circumstances leading to this damage (and their relatively minor extent) that Rentava would consider waiving or reducing the excess charge but we were charged the full 500 CHF excess. I reached out to Rentava after the amount was withdrawn from our account to ask for leniency but did not receive this. I confirmed the above policy with them. In consideration of this we would not choose to rent from Rentava again (notwithstanding an otherwise very positive experience) and would encourage future renters to be fully aware of this policy prior to renting from their agency.

Like many other reviewers, I rented a vehicle from the Zurich airport location in May 2025. We returned the vehicle and were told everything looked great and our deposit would be returned. The deposit was returned and weeks later got an email with a blurry picture of a scratch saying they were going to charge me over $2000 USD and reversed my deposit return and attempted to make several other charges. I sent back the dozens of photos and videos I took of the car before and after I returned it and they simply said "that isn't enough". Keep in mind the blurry photo they sent didn't show anything or have any metadata confirming date/location etc. My bank is refusing to reverse it saying I willingly gave my credit card information to the rental car agency (shame on Citibank for this as well). I am now in the process of trying to collect other claimants who this has happened to and bringing it to the Swiss authorities. I already emailed SECO, Fedpol, econsumer.gov, FTC etc. If you look across review sites, this is a common scam by this Enterprise franchise. Please contact/message me if this has happened to you as I started a Google spreadsheet to hopefully connect the hundreds of people I see this has happened to to hopefully close this location down.
