Independently owned / franchise . This location also has uber cars for rent . This location is not my chosen place to rent from. My original location did not have the specific car available. Avis corporate customer service found this area that has the type of car that seats 7, not the SUV as originally reserved but a Chrysler Pacifica van instead. I am already perturbed by this mishap and having to scramble to find a suitable vehicle for my needs . Sadly at this location the owner who helped me did not seem like he was happy to be there , his facial expression was stern , cold demeanor. Not welcoming one bit . I asked for him to explain the collection of funds put on hold on my credit card. He looked annoyed having to asked to repeat and explain what he meant to me again. I never had to sign any forms stating a specific amount of money to be held. I am used to walking to the airport Avis location and walking to the kiosk to find my stall number and drive the car off the lot . We are back after renting for 3 days and here to return the car . I've rented from this location several times and never had a negative experience. They were friendly enough and honestly, just did exactly what I needed...to get my rental as quickly and painlessly as possible. I had to extend a rental due to an urgent issue and they were sympathetic to my cause and didn't charge me a late return fee. If their location was closer (It's just far enough that I need to uber here when I need a rental), I would prob get from here than the rental spot walking distance from my place. I just comparison shop and if their rate are good for my need, then they're at the top of my list! read more

This is the worst rental car establishment I have ever been to in a long, long time. It should be a negative 5 stars. The clerks are the worst in Customer Service. They are not friendly, they look pisses off working there and is privately own. National or Enterprise people might hate their job, but they are at least fake it 2 be happy and friendly. For a located neighborhood rental, they don't provide pick up or drop off. When you call and ask them about it. They are rude and inpolite to inform you, they don't offer free ride, you are on your own. I would never recommend anyone to this business establishment. I don't understand the super low reviews. Twice now I have rented from this location through Avis and their employees have been super helpful. I don't have anyone's name but a girl at the counter helped me and when returning my car I was helped by two other guys and they were all super helpful. I had to rent a van super last minute at noon on a Saturday when they close at 1 and I was able to get my car and I was able to get an upgrade. I will continue to use this location. read more

Disappointed I've used this location a few times in the past. Rates were good, so I kept using this location. So, what changed? I received my rental. As soon as I got in, I noticed a funny smell. It smelled stale. I rolled the windows down. When I got home, I looked at the car more carefully. (Why didn't I do this when I picked the car up, the agent seemed "rushed".) It was then I noticed spills in the car: multiple areas someone spilled their drink in the car and it was not cleaned. I called the office & told them to car was dirty and if they had another car available for exchange. He said yes. I take the car back and the agent that helped me - that I spoke with over the phone was outside. He walked over to the car and I showed him the "dried" spills. He said: "oh, we don't detail the car. we just vacuum." I showed him areas that had not been vacuumed, too. He pulled another car out and I looked at that one and agreed to take it. When I get the replacement car home and let down the 3rd row seats for my luggage, I see dried grass and other dirt particles. I will no longer be patronizing this facility. read more

We suggested you read the customer reviews on Yelp about this store. There are negative comments all over the place after 2018. I will mark no STAR if there is such an option. We traveled all over the country dealing with many different rental car companies, no store/company like this one treating customers so stressful and so unprofessionally. During the walk through, there were many scratches & dents around the vehicle, mostly in the rear door and bumper. We were concerned about it and asked AVIS if it's necessary to record each one specifically on paper; but this AVIS agent did not want to do that. He just marked down the whole rear area on paper and said that it should be fine and would not bring any issue when returning it. I took his words. Before heading out from home, my wife still took the photos, just in case, due to her suspicion about this AVIS agent's weird behavior as well as his attitude towards us. We returned the vehicle one day early and were informed of a small dent beside the brake light at the rear right door. Even though we remembered the dent was originally there, we couldn't prove it to him because I left the iPhone and the paperwork at home. We requested to have the vehicle returned the next day ( 10-21-2021 by Rental Agreement ), so both the paperwork and photos we took would be available, and the evidence would be obvious. But this AVIS agent said he already completed the paperwork, and we couldn't return it the next day. So my wife took the photos to that's the small dent he informed, and I chose to sign the claim form to let him make the claim just because he rushed to close the store, AND: (A) we were willing to pay for the repair if it was done by me ( I am the only one driver), AND (B) If it was not me then this AVIS agent will honor his words and treat his customer fairly, honestly, and professionally to return my innocence. After I reviewed and compared the photos we took, that small dent was a pre-existed damage at the same place! We are 100% sure that we did not cause the damage and we did not owe him anything. It is the exact same spot, and it was already there when the vehicle was handed to us. I asked my wife to call this AVIS store the next morning. This AVIS agent was very rude and refused to talk to her and refused her to show him the photos at the store. He insisted on talking to only me directly. Then I called him later that day during my super-busy-work after vacation, and told him that I could not make it to his store during business hours. I suggested that I show him the photos and papers on Saturday morning that weekend, just two days later, if he insisted me is the only one allowed to talk to him. But this AVIS agent insisted that I had to show him the photos in person on THIS day before 5PM only!! During our conversation, he kept on telling me why this was happening all because we didn't buy the insurance from him at the first place repeatedly. It's not right !! He was very unprofessional and stressed out customers. This AVIS store will never be on our list of recommendations and we will make sure everyone around us knows about it. I'm only giving these guys one star to legitimize my review. I'm a preferred member with Avis and rent cars multiple times a year with them. The company themselves are a great organization and normally go above and beyond to facilitate my traveling needs. This place in particular in Diamond bar is owned and run by a family so they March to their own tune. I believe it's the younger of the males son maybe who is disrespectful pompous and arrogant. He tells you what he wants to tell you doesn't listen to you and tries to force you to pay more for intermediate size cars. His excuse is that they don't have small cars so you have to pay for the more expensive one when every time I've made reservations and they don't give the car I need they just upgrade me for no charge because it's their fault they don't have the car I want not mine. Either way when I attempted to let him know this he hung up on me. To make things worst I called back and a young lady answered and I could hear the guy going off about me being a difficult client and then she said she would put me on hold to find out who I spoke to although I could hear him rambling. She didn't place me on hold she placed me on ignore because she never came back to the phone. I called their corporates customer service line and I was comped my rental and I didn't go to DB. I requested a car from Expedia was supposed to be a 7 seater Ford Explorer when we we to pick it up they only had a 5 passenger Mazda and I paid for a larger car. The car wasn't even clean it was dirty so we had to clean our own rental car. Then the guy said he would take $15 off and he didn't but for a dirty car which is unacceptable especially since it is covid. Then they charge me $10 a gallon when we returned it so I was charged $272, this was a horrible experience and I will never use this company ever again!!!! read more

Yes the other reviews are true. This place has cheap rentals but you get what you pay for in service. Once I got into the SUV the lady helping me with the car was already long gone and as I started to drive away the car had a weird scent as to which I later realized was a cigarette smoke scent which was never disclosed to me. The interior was filthy which led me to believe they don't clean their cars in between rentals which is weird considering we're in a "pandemic". As soon as I got home I wiped down the entire interior with Lysol and cleaned all the left over dirt stuck to the chairs and doors. I called the following business day to notify them of the cigarette smoke smell and felt immediately accused by the male employee who stated "why didn't you say anything before? You know it's a $250 charge?" He put me hold and realized the car notes in his computer mentioned the SUV had a cigarette smell so I was good. Annoying. Oh it doesn't stop there, the day I had to return the vehicle I was greeted with a "be back in 15 minutes sign" which was more like 20+minutes and there were two other parties waiting for this guy to get back. Who closes up during business hours? This guy was a mess, he struggled to open the door for 5minutes and kept asking me for my paperwork because he couldn't access his computer cuz he locked himself out lol. Also, he left his phone off the hook so nobody can call what a freak show. When he handed me my receipt he never mentioned he was going to add on a fuel charge as I was just below the 3/4 level. It was fine I didn't want to argue I just wanted to get the hell out of that place. But if you're going to add on charges you should tell the customer first. This place is a fuckin joke. read more

On May 31st my family and I arrived at the Diamond bar location, only to be advised the car we were actually looking to purchase was not there. After receiving numerous text messages about our scheduled test drive appointment. We were advised that we would receive a call when it arrived to the location as it was in route. We followed up with the sales person and to this day, have not heard anything from the location or him related to the vehicle inquired. Highly disappointed This is terrible customer service. Especially with a large investment like an automobile. Not only did I make it to the test drive appointment set by you. I made it with 2 kids while also 7 months pregnant which is not easy.  I am not sure if your company just doesn't care about my business or this is how you are expected to operate but I would not recommend this service to anyone. read more

The car I received smelt like weed and the back carpet was torn up as well as a big brown stain on the ceiling and very low air in the tires also the disrespect that was given to me by the workers is absolutely horrible and disgusting. I am an Uber driver and that is how I make my money and I made the payment for the car and it was taken out of my account and then they take my car off my profile and cancel my rental agreement and then tell me I have make another payment to proceed to do Uber even after just paying. I have called day after day trying to get things resolved and then even today I called and it was 30 minutes well before they closed and they asked for just a few minutes so they can handle a customer and I said no problem, then I proceeded to wait until they finally take me off hold 1 minute before they closed and told me to "call sooner and not right before they close" and to "be smart about it next time" I am never coming here again this place is a scam and not worth anyone's time or money read more

EV Rental - don't do it!! Picked up my Mach E and was excited about driving it, but the thrill soon turned to absolute frustration very quickly. When I got home I went to charge the vehicle but there was no cord so I called Avis. The agent told me that per policy THEY DON'T PROVIDE CHARGERS!!! So I asked how I'm supposed to charge it and they told me at a station. Have you tried to find an available charging station lately? I have, and it's at best inconvenient and at worst not possible. They're all taken or not in service so I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find an available charging station so I could use the car I paid to rent. My wife had to drive it to work so she tried to charge there, but it was the same story. All were in use all day. I had to wait until after 10 pm that night for a station, then I had to sit there for 3 hours while it charged. I could have spent that time at home if Avis would have just given me a damn charger. Worst rental experience of my life and I will never ever, ever do it again. Special thanks to the management boneheads at Avis that made this policy. I was ripped off. The Indian woman who works there, overcharged me many times. When I tried to explain my situation, he did not care. I couldn't understand what she was saying. She was so rude and mean. I couldn't believe it. I don't understand why this has happened to me, but I have met other people who have also been ripped off. I wish I could give no stars. I've used several rental car companies in many different states and have never had this bad of an experience. Reserved a vehicle more than a month in advance, only to have this location tell me they didn't have the vehicle I reserved when I arrived for pickup. After arguing with the associate for 25 minutes they offered to give me a $20 discount (for a vehicle that was much smaller and would have been cheaper anyway). But it gets worse, the vehicle I was given had serious mechanical problems. The check engine light turned on after a few miles on the road and the car sputters and shakes at freeway speeds. Very disappointed and will never ever rent from Avis again after this experience. read more

On 2018, I tried to order online for rental car which return on Labor Day at other place other than lax. I tried on enterprise and other company, but they all closed. Avis was the only one that available to choose that day. Thought Avis was nice but I was wrong. It's a trap. I returned before the schedule time and found out the location is closed. No key drop mailbox. No customer service. Can't reach anyone. The only thing I can do is leave the key in the car and leave. I was in front of the store anxious waiting and calling for a whole hour. Left message on sign out and customer service website. I called in next day and say they aren't responsible. They say its my responsibility. Should drive to them next morning. I told them I have to leave that's why I schedule that time. And it's clear in words on the contract that I schedule the return time at that place. If u guys aren't available, why can I order that time online. But they say it's not their problem. The lady on the phone shouted at me and say I need to pay and pay and pay til they get the key in person. But I wasn't there. Until my friend came up with the idea to call roadside assistance to unlock the car and sign out for me. And I just found out that it cost my friend for an extra $150 which he didn't told me and just want me to have fun that time. Now I know I have a good friend but Avis would be my last choice as rental car. It costs me dollars, frustration, anger and lots of time wasted. I'll never ever rent a car from Avis again. read more

I've been to a lot of different AVIS locations. This one is by far the worst. From the cleanliness of the car, the laziness of the workers, the service and everything. When I came, they took a while to get me and car and when I got it - it had stains and was absolutely filthy. They blamed the previous renter but it's obvious they just don't clean the inside of the car. When I asked to exchange, they literally made me go down to the garage and fetch it myself. The only good experience I had was returning the car because it was quick and easy since they already had my money. I've never been so happy to not have a car. If you're in a bind and you don't mind an absolutely filthy car, I guess it's okay but otherwise I would avoid this place. read more

Wow, I've never had a worse experience renting a car. Jack was the person who helped me. He lied to me and added insurance to my bill without properly disclosing it to me. When I asked him if the $51 insurance charge that he add without telling me was mandatory he immediately got angry and defensive. He told me "You don't have to do anything you don't want to. You don't even have to rent a car today." He offered too upgrade my vehicle for only $5. Then the bill showed a $15 increase. He was actually charging me $5 per day. I would have been fine with that, but I didn't like his deceptive nature. I'll use AVIS again, but never this location. They are unbelievably unethical in their business practices. I didn't asked for a free upgrade in the beginning, the young man offered me a free upgrade due to a problem with my original reservation. How Mr. B twisted around and it end up with I have been greedy and taking an advantage of this company? I can see that it is all customer's faults and they are the innocent victim. I am a Chinese American so I understand how Chinese way of dealing with problems. This is USA so the Chinese way running American company is not going to work here. We have booked a car through Costco rental for Dodge Grand Caravan for 8am on a day. This was booked about 3 weeks in advance. Even a day before that they have called us to confirm the rental. When we went there they didn't have what we booked instead they offered a Mazda SUV rx 7 which 7 people can sit very tightly. We wanted the trunk space and were leaving out of town with lots of luggage. With SUV ,hardly any trunk space and not much leg space for the 6th and 7th person. Very frustrated. Finally after asking him to call other AVis he was able to find one about 2 1/2 hours away. They said it will be there in 2 1/2 hours, by that time it was almost 11:30am. Since we will be late we have to cancel the reservation and joined with other family members in their vehicle. We were going for a wedding and need to load a lot of stuff ,but that morning has ruined our fun. Hope they won't make this mistake, atleast they should call previous night and should have told us this. Be careful when you book next time with AVIS Diamond Bar location. read more
