Jennifer went far and beyond to help me out when I was visiting San Antonio after Fox rental car did not want to rent me a car because I did not have a credit card to pay with. I called Avis since I found out they allow you to pay with a debit card, which is such an amazing concept for most costumers. I told her what happened with Fox Rental and she did everything she could to make sure I was in a rental within 30 minutes of me calling. I arrived at Avis and she was super friendly and understanding. Got into a rental right away. Rental was clean and in great condition. She waived my return fee to the airport to facilitate my experience and I was able to enjoy my 7 day trip without any issues. I will definitely do business with Avis in the future. We had a reservation for 1pm on a Saturday afternoon and we arrived at 105, and they had closed their office at 1pm and cancelled our reservation. Why would you let us make a reservation for when the office is closed/closing? NEVER USING AVIS AGAIN. Cost us $5 per day more and had to go to airport to rent, and rented from BUDGET. read more

This is regarding this location only. My rental had a flat and I needed to switch it out. This was the closest location so I called to tell them I was coming. First, they were not sympathetic at all that their company rented me a vehicle with a large hole in the tire. Second, he couldn't be less concerned that I needed a new car-said he didn't have enough cars so I should go to the airport. The airport required freeway travel at speeds that aren't safe on a donut tire. You would think he could have at least said, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience," but there was no concern at all. If I wasn't in a hurry I would've gone there just to scream at his face in person. I hope he gets stranded on the side of the road in the heat one day. read more

Rented the "intermediate SUV: similar to Ford Edge" because we we're taking an epic MidWest road trip to see Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field and buy alllll the beers to bring home. Clerk, who is -at best- impersonable and needs a crash course in How to Win Friends and Be a Decent Specimen of Humanity (but frankly... He was a total dink lol) seems completely aghast when I ask if we're getting the Ford Flex... "(Sarcastic huff) THAT is a 7-passenger vehicle. Absolutely not." Oh. OK then. Cool. So we're getting that Explorer over there then? "(Superindignant sigh). You mean the (raised eyebrow. Now speaks in italics) FULL SIZE suv? No. You rented the "intermediate", no? You're getting the (small. basic) Mitsubishi Outlander out there in the lot. (And you know it took all of his restraint to hold back the "...peasant" that he was thinking, haha. Jerk!) Whompsville! The Outlander (in general. As a model of vehicle) turns out to be an OKish vehicle... comfy, if not luxurious, size-wize. Pretty good power. Interior lighting suuuuuucks, though. Not a dream vehicle, but it works. I guess. This particular Outlander, however, smelled like an ashtray. BAD. We noticed before we even got the 2 miles home with it that it smelled heinous. But, in excitement to get our luggage loaded and get the road party started, we opted not to try and deal with Jerky McJerkface to swap it out. °We get our stuff loaded, set aside a previous renter's iPad that was left behind - to address when we get home - and hit the road (squeeee!! Eddie Vedder time!!) °5 miles in we have to stop at an HEB for Febreze and some air freshener vent clips, as the stale cigarette smell is SO strong that it's headache-inducing. Spend the next 14 hours spritzing and singning "Febreze on down, Febreze on down, the rooooad" hehe. Fast forward 2 concerts, 6 days, 6 states, 15 breweries, 3300 adventure-filled miles. We're home. Car still reeks. :( I'm kinda miffed - REALLY miffed, actually - that they don't have a drop box for the keys or any way to return a vehicle outside of the location business hours. So now I have to get up *before* work in the morning - and we all know how "fun" the first work-morning after vacay is (insert my own sarcastic eyeroll HERE) - and return this car when it's convenient for THEM. Ugh! Funny story...I did call the iPad-owner to arrange its return. That very nice man is still traveling. In a different rental car. HE had been wise enough to swap the Ashtraylander virtually immediately for a fresh-smelling vehicle before his trip got started. -- so Avis just took that complaint-car back from him and handed right back out to the next unsuspecting person - me - that came along, with zero compunction or cleaning or frigs given. Terrible customer service on a 4 day rental 8 Nov - 11 Nov. Pick up was fairly uneventful other than employee couldn't explain how the toll tag worked other than "go to the website" a smile would have been nice and maybe a "have a safe trip" but not a big deal. Where it got good was on the way back there was some pretty decent weather that I had to drive through which hindered my return. So I call to talk to the personnel at this location and explain I could be up to an hour late due to the dangerous conditions, and their response was "well you have 30 minutes or get charged an additional day". Well thanks for understanding. So I drive straight through fill up the tank and drop the car off with 5 minutes to spare. Well again I get to see the boy so happy and less than caring crew working at this location and have one of the employees explain to me that the fuel level is a "bit" below full. I am told I can either go fill it up or pay $9.99 a gallon, which I explain, 1 I thought you needed the vehicle back at an exact time but now that didn't seem to be an issue and then I explained how I just filled up the tank... they would not listen and kept threatening to charge $9.99 a gallon on their own and at this point i definitely had no trust that these two would be honest with anything left to them if i wasn't able to see how much would go in the vehicle, so I took the car to put $1.86 of gas in it before the pump would shut off and gas would leak out the tank. Employees either want to get the charge of $9.99 a gallon on a full tank or do not know how to read a fuel gauge. All of this with no concern for the customer, not even a simple gesture to understand the situation or to take a second look at a fuel gauge after I explained I filled the tank less than 2 miles away from the location... terrible experience with these people.. would highly suggest find another location or company. They are not paid to help you at all, they seemed to be paid to add a charge at first opportunity. Hate to know what it would have been like if I had been involved in an accident or there would have been some damage. Would have probably had me buy a new fleet for them. Not happy at all. read more

He did not say good morning after i greeted him. He asked me to have a seat. The waiting area is filthy. After checking out... I won't be back I will use enterprise going forward. Horrible customer service, loud bass (think cheap club on dollar night) due to the Zumba gym next door did I mention horrible service. After my husband was in a bad car accident on February 27th we needed to get him car rental due to the accident being a hit and run. We called all around town and Avis was the only location that had vehicles available and a plus they were right down the road from us. At first my husband and I had called them to reserve a vehicle but they stated they had none available which was weird because only it showed that Avis had many vehicles available. So we decided to cancel talking to the individuals on the phone and just reserving the vehicle online. We went ahead and reserved my husband a mid size vehicle online since he was used to driving a truck before it was totaled and Avis had none available at the time. Well once we got there the gentleman running the front desk was very cold in greeting us, going over the paperwork and lastly when we questioned why we were receiving a mitsubishi lancer the gentleman kept stating this is what you reserved and would not even look at my online reservation print out when trying to show him what we had reserved. In my opinion this vehicle is a small sedan not a mid size sedan. Also when we step outside with the gentleman to review the rental as for any major damage my husband and I would call out other damage we found on the vehicle or stains inside the vehicle and the gentleman would ignore it. When we returned the rental on Friday as we didnt need the rental on the weekends my husband said the lancer was very dirty inside and sticky and the car just felt very unsafe handling wise to drive. Well unfortunately that wasnt our last time at Avis due to waiting on the police report we had to rent another rental from Avis and again the same process reserved a mid size vehicle and this time received a Hyundai elantra though this one felt more like a mid size vehicle my husband stated this vehicle did have better handling and was a little cleaner inside. Overall all the customer service with Avis is bleh and how dirty the cars are seem unsanitary and I'd hate to use them again however the only reason I may is because Avis doesnt charge a deposit as the other rental places do so when paying out of pocket until insurance figures out what they are doing makes it helpful financially. read more

Rented a vehicle from this location because it was closer to home...mistake! Car was beautiful and in great condition, no complaints there. Customer service however was complete opposite. The guy behind the counter seemed irritated and not very friendly. I'm new to renting as this was my first time and he didn't explain anything. If i asked a question his answers were short and not very helpful. He never introduced himself nor wore a name badge, very unprofessional. My receipt said Andrew, but who knows. A lot of hidden fees not explained when questioned about them his answer was : " if you read the full policies it'll tell you there". When i asked what my amount owed was , he said " im printing you a receipt". I would definitely suggest to go elsewhere for better experience. read more

Do not use this rental company! I received horrible customer service from the owner of this location. I had a bad feeling when I picked up the rental that I would have problems when I returned it. Andrew, the owner, was not very friendly and had a very bad attitude. There was a disagreement with my bill and the owner told me I needed to call customer service to get it fixed because he couldn't help me. I was transferred to 7 different people and 1 even hung up on me. I couldn't believe the way I was treated as a customer. This was the first and last time I will ever do business with Avis. This is a horrible location. Had to speak with the counter help and the manager after they tried to rent me a minivan that was dirty and stinky without getting help. I reserved 6 months prior a loaded Chrysler town and country. I called the week before and their was no issues just to confirm because this was an important family trip and willing to pay extra for the vehicle we reserved. The dirty and stinky dodge caravan was not the same, not even close, however to them they saw no issues and felt they met the "similar" requirement and did their part. Its a drag to rent something 6 months in advance and the morning we where going to leave on our trip, they do the bait and switch on us. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS BAD LOCATION!!! read more
