If I would give negative stars I could…read more My prior arrangements for a ride from New Bern NC to Raleigh NC (approx 2.25 hours) for a flight fell through at the last minute. I tried to book a car with Enterprise but their app indicated there were no cars available. When I checked Alamo, the app indicated there were cars at the New Bern airport and the price was great too! I tracked down the phone number for the Alamo in New Bern and talked with a representative that assured me there was a car ready for me. When I arrived, the person at the Alamo counter said there were no cars. When I asked what Alamo was going to do about the fact I needed to get to the Raleigh airport for a flight, he said I could be put on a 14-person deep waiting list. While he was not overtly rude, he was certainly unempathetic and insensitive to my immediate need. He also was not apologetic for the way Alamo had misled me. After I left the counter I called the same number I had earlier and spoke to a representative about the problem. She assured me she was forwarding my issue to the regional manager and marking it as urgent. It's been 4 days and I have yet to hear anything. I have three issues: The first is that the Alamo app and the representative on the phone did not know the true status of car availability at the New Bern location. I'm confident there were no cars available to rent at that location. Even though I called the New Bern number, I was routed to a call center. If the app had been accurate, the call center had access to actual inventory, or the call had gone to the New Bern location as the website implied, the issue would have been resolved then and there. The second is the behavior of the counter representative. He was unsympathetic and did nothing but justify his position. At one point he implied my last-minute reservation was because I wasn't organized. I'm also not confident of his truthfulness. New Bern is a small location, I doubt the waiting list was 14 people long. He did nothing to defuse the issue. The third is with how my complaint has been handled - or not. I'm glad I didn't wait for a response before I found an alternative route to the Raleigh Airport. My son-in-law drove me. He get's 1,000 stars!

Incompetent, unfriendly lady at the desk. No hello or whatsoever. After asking for my lastname she…read morenoticed she had given away the car that we had reserved (and already paid for), so she complains that we should have been there at 1 instead of 4. I don't get it. Just let the car sit in the lot until the customer who had already paid for the car shows up.. Anyway, she provided us with an "upgrade" to a midsize-SUV, which really is not an upgrade from a regular fullsize-car because the SUV really is just basic, no extras like temperature control A/C, bluetooth, etc., which all the fullsize-cars that I had before had. As we have a German license, she had to look it up in a book to make sure it is valid -- that is ok. However, if I had not told her it was German, she probably would have looked through the entire book. A little more talking and a little friendliness would definitely help! To sum it up: we are not satisfied with the car and with the way we were treated. Bluetooth might seem like an extra you do not need, but for us it is very convenient to connect our smartphone so that we get all the instructions from the GPS, which we do not now because the Alamo employee did not know what she was doing..

Reserved a truck the day after Christmas. Got a call right before we were supposed to pick it up…read morethat they don't actually have a truck for us. Waited 2 days to finally get it only for it to smell like someone spent a week in it smoking cigarettes one after the other with the windows rolled up. I used 1 WHOLE can of febreze, half a can of lysol, and wiped it down including vents (it was also dirty!!!) and that didn't even touch the smell. It was so bad I was getting migraines after spending 15-20 minutes in the truck. We kept the truck for 2 days because they didn't have anything else available until I couldn't stand the smell and had to exchange it for something else. What we ended up with is too small for my family to ride in together which was OK for a couple days but we seriously need something bigger!!! Getting something that will accommodate us has become a nightmare!!! I honestly don't understand how this company stays in business operating this way. It's CRAZY!!!!

They ended up showing up at 2:30pm! NO EXCUSE - I was told they called my "main number" to confirm, well, looking at my phone messages - no call, no messages, and no matter how many times I told them i didn't get a message, the csr insisted he did. Don't like being lied to! When I got back, I explained my situation to yet another csr who assured me I would get a phone call from a manager...... 4 days later, no phone call.
