I rented a car from New Orleans airport. My rental agreement was for $95.20. When I rented it, the lady at the desk didn't give me any paperwork. When I returned it, the man didn't give me a receipt. He said I would be emailed a receipt. I wasn't, but I was overcharged $16.84. Avis is a bunch of thieves. I emailed their customer service. They keep giving me the runaround by asking for information they already have like my credit card, etc. I put in a complaint against them at the BBB. They said the overcharged was for gas. The tank was full. They said I was short by .2. That means they are me charging $84.20/gallon. That's a scam and a bunch of thieves. Don't rent with them. If you do, get all the paperwork up front.

My original rental receipt

I rented a car and paid $350.72 ahead of time online. We had bad weather at the airport and our plane was delayed 4 hours. Upon picking the car up 4 hours late, the transaction seemed to go smooth. They told me which car to take then some other woman told me she would email my rental agreement. Upon returning from my trip, I checked the emailed receipt and realized they charge me $968 instead of $350. There was a $90 fuel fee which I anticipated but otherwise nothing to suggest why the cost was so much higher. After hours of phone calls and many emails, they said it was because I picked the car up later than I had originally planned (due to the 4hr delay) so that voided the original rental agreement. The new rental agreement was for a higher price. I was not told this while getting my car, I was never shown a new rental agreement, and I didn't sign a new agreement. Now they are refusing to refund the $500 extra. Do not go through this company. They have fraudulent practices and will find a way to charge you more.

The PICKUP: Picked up TUESDAY morning #easypeasy #duringCOVID19 #thepandemiccontinues This was the SECOND stop of an attempt to rent a vehicle for the THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY, which should RIGHTFULLY be called INDIGENOUS PEOPLE HOLIDAY; but that's topic for another time. Anywho, as I mentioned, this was our 2nd attempt to rent a vehicle, as our 1st attempt was FUTILE; this was from another rental car agency, who shall temporarily remain nameless, but they too WILL BE REVIEWED. Once the initial plans fell thru, we journeyed here and were seamlessly able to get a vehicle, a better, more comfortable vehicle, than what was offered at the 1st rental agency & for a better rate; did I mention it was a 2020... hello NEW CAR SMELL & without faking it with one of those fragrance trees . Seems like it was divine intervention that we were led to rent here, thank you Jesus. The manager on duty, Ms Nisha, I believe that was her name, at this time I was so flustered, until I barely remembered my OWN name!!! Ms Nisha was attentive and able to multitask with great efficiency, as she was processing our transaction, interacting with co-workers & and providing a quote to a lady on the phone; talk about a one WOman show... my mind was blown at her follow thru-ness & accuracy!!! The vehicle selection was random, kinda wanted to choose the vehicle, but hey, at this point, the Flintstone Car would've been ok; we just needed to go. The vehicle had a few exterior smudges but we were able to review them, mark them on the contract, make note of the gas gauge and I was out of there!! #vroom THE RETURN: Returned SUNDAY morning. #easypeasy #duringCOVID19 #thepandemiccontinues Oh what a rainy, dreary, cold wet day. That made this return a little bit more complex. No one came out to review the vehicle with me, the young lady indoors simply asked for the keys said that they would check the fuel and email me a receipt; that was pretty good. I liked that it was a stick and move caper, I LOVE these. This quick and easy return, thankfully made a long road trip, less long; who wants to be bothered with details of returning a vehicle that was in the same condition as when you picked it up... Not me. As I return the vehicle I noticed customers waiting for vehicles, I also saw a representative moving the vehicles to clean them and get them ready for the next customer. Seems like a seamless operation to me, kudos to Canal Street AVIS/BUDGET rental car agency. #EasyPeezy #StickAndMoveCaper #EasylikeaSundayMorning like the terminator said, #IllBeBack.

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. We had a reservation for a hour before we arrived. We waited in line for 45 minutes. Waited in the back after they were done with us at the counter for over 30 minutes and given no eta on when our rental would be ready. Avis is great for making you wait. We still don't have a car over an hour later.

Avis Hilton Riverside rented this crap

I'm a preferred Avis member and the location at the Hilton Riverside is by far the worse branch. That Shawn fella rents crap because he has no morals or integrity and on top of that, he is disgustingly rude. We reserved a Tahoe and he didn't have any SUV's there, although the reservation said he did. He said he could get one. 45 minutes later, it gets there all banged up with white chalk outlined around the damages on the vehicle. We were in a hurry so we took it. Upon stopping for gas, my husband said the registration/brake tag was expired. At that point, I called Avis to report that and they advised us to trade it in at the closet Avis we can find. We get back with a brand new Suburban and this man overcharges us for a two day extension. I told him he rented us a crappy expired vehicle and he tells me, it was not expired. The tag had a 01/2019 expiration date and it's 9/26/2019. Either he's aloof or cunning....I think it's the latter. I implore you fellow Yelpers to take your business elsewhere. This location at the Hilton Riverside just isn't worth your business. I should've known he was suspect when he came running after us to rent a vehicle after we decided to leave. See pictures of how this was rented to us.

AVOID AVIS CAR RENTALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also had to wait about 15 minutes before I could drop off my car. Just seemed to me like they were under-staffed. But the staff that was there was very polite and efficient. My car was very clean. And ran well. The strange part is that you have to walk through the hotel, then out double doors then around a corner. Some people will find this very vexing. I personally gameify stuff like this in my head and thought it was eccentric, much like the city I was visiting, so no harm no foul for me.

Instead, when I arrived at the location, I was told they did not have any cars available and that I would have to be placed on a waiting list. That is completely unacceptable considering I had already prepaid in full. If you take someone's money months ahead of time, there should absolutely be a car reserved for them. What makes this even worse is that I was never contacted beforehand to let me know there was an issue with my reservation. I only found out after arriving at the location, wasting my time and completely disrupting my travel plans. The staff offered no real solution, and when I called Budget customer service, I was told there were no one-way rentals available anywhere else either. Because of Budget's lack of professionalism and poor planning, I will never use Budget again after this experience.
