Absolutely the worst ever. Reserved a car and one hour before my reservation was supposed to start they called me and told me they couldn't get the vehicle I needed. And their only solution was to say..."oh well....sorry!" Had to spend and additional $250 to get what I needed. Will NEVER use AVIS ever again. Enterprise is way better. It's a small office but customer service was great. I was looking for a fairly large moving van. Kenya went above and beyond to accommodate the rental, especially on short notice. She is the owner/operator and does a great job to see customers as they arrive. The van was clean and I received proper direction about safety and operation. She took extra time to explain the precautions needed to be taken due to the height (10 ft) of the vehicle. In short, it was a great experience and I will be a returning customer. read more

This is an Avis/Budget/Payless rental station from which I have rented about 3 or 4 times. Very nice people. But there are problems. On two occasions they didn't have the type of car (full size sedan) I reserved. In one case, they switched me to a different size but close; in another I had to take premium car for a few bucks more.. OK- both cars were fine but still. However at my last visit, I reserved a Payless car because it was all that Hotwire had (I prefer Avis first, Budget secondarily--Payless is the cheapo brand)...I got a confirmed reservation and when I arrived, they had no Payless cars whatever left and all their Avis and Budget cars were reserved; the very nice young man alternately put the blame on Hotwire and Avis corporate for "not checking back." When I later complained to Hotwire..who were very accommodating, they confirmed my thought that the fault couldn't possibly lay with the booking agent (them) but with the rental station (or Avis corporate) whose responsibility it is to remove ads for which there are no cars. This station has good cars and nice people and I will rent from them again but they should get their act together. I have found out that in a case like mine I'd have had the legal right to rent any other car at that time from any other company and that this station would have to refund me however much such a substitute rental cost me over and above the cost in the dishonored reservation I had with them. Under NJ law a confirmed online car rental is an enforceable contract--in this instance had I done what I legally could have, and they refused my subsequent demand for the remedial payment, I could successfully have sued them in Montclair small claims court. In this case I elected to do nothing but I won't tolerate this again--this station has far too loose an operation respecting honoring specific confirmed reservations. read more

Horrible service and experience. I booked through the company's website over a month ago. When I arrived to pick my car today, I was told the car from the website I booked through is not available but I could get the car available for triple my reservation price. I was left stranded and had to explore other options. Stay away!!!! read more

This place was a nightmare from start to finish. There is some lady at the front desk named Cheryl Smith. Her customer service skills are those for the dogs. She curses at you, her attitude and character is the worst that I have witnessed from any front desk rep. Ghetto and untrained like a wild animal. I do not recommend this place. We were treated like crap and they kept over charging our credit cards and hiked the rate on us because we complained about her. Pure nightmare. read more

Renter beware. The agent advised me to bring back my one-day rental car "about the same time" next--what she should have said was the same time and not a millisecond later. A fraction of an hour late costs $40! Too bad I couldn't take a few bucks off the rental fee because the car was dirty. read more
