Horrible customer service. I went to go get my rental on monday morning.The mall opens at ten a.m by the way. When I pull up to get my rental, this nasty old lady (jean) answers the phone in the most disrespectful way and then I asked if I can collect my rental and she said, you may not come in the doors are not opened.We open at eleven, and I proceeded to tell her that I was already inside.And the place opens at ten a m and she argued the fact that the mall opens at ten a.m and said she was very angry.At the fact that I came in without permission.! Then, I asked, what about all the people that are in the ball now?And she responded with, i'm gonna throw them all out too! on top of that, she had a daycare going on, or must have been caring for somebody's child.Because there was a walker in my way and a kid in the back room crying. My advice would be just to stay away from this place and stay away from that lady.She's just awful. If I can hit zero stars, I would. Honestly, the only reason I rent from there is because they have a really low down deposit requirement. read more

Your rental agent at the Melbourne Square Mall location accosted me approximately 10:15 am on July 24,2024 when I entered the Melbourne Square Mall waiting for a store to open. I was shocked when your agent went out of her way to come up to me. I was nowhere near the Avis store. She told me "I didn't belong there" and threatened to call mall security. While I was at my appointment a mall security person showed up but didn't come into the store I was in. The employee at the store I was in told me that the psychotic women works at Avis Car Rental. After completing my shopping I went into the Avis store to ask her why she behaved that way. She threatened me again and jumped up and came around the counter and physically approached me and said get out im calling security! As a past customer of Avis I am shocked that the company employs such people. This agent is psychotic and dangerous. Avis you need to do better at hiring and screening your employees. read more

The staff is always professional. Always understanding my need to rental a vehicle and very patient with me.

My experience was devastating at this place! Went to pick up van because I needed to pick up my family in MCO. They have a shabby little cubby hole inside mall with black curtains, not very professional. If I wasn't on a timeline, I would've refused the car. I took pictures of the outside but unfortunately did not photograph the inside. There were all kinds of scratches, dings and dents. The inside carpet had dirt imbedded in the black carpet. Took the car back and told the attendant there was a bumping noise in front wheel well and also it smelled faintly like cigarette smoke. I had left 2 booster seats in the car so tried to call, left message, then decided to drive up. Upon arrival, called the number on the door. Attendant let me in the car and proceeded to tell me I was going to be billed for cleaning the car. I asked details and was told, smoking, dog hair, spill on seat, etc. Right now I'm dealing with corporate Avis Budget. They are assessing me with a $450 cleaning and mechanical charge. I read several negative reviews where they scammed other people in the same way. My original bill was $212.00 with a security deposit of $200. They have never refunded my security deposit. I am an honest person who has never dealt with anything like this. I've rented many cars. None of us smoke and we do not have a dog. I had pictures of the outside, dirty with mud on tires...sent to Avis Budget Corporate. Hoping they will get rid of this place doing business in their name. Looking for some legal advice. Do not use this rental place. What you think of a reasonable rental price turns into a much more expensive ordeal. Last weekend I rented a car from Melbourne International Airport from Hertz and had no issue...much more professionally run! read more

The woman that works at this location is a PSYCHO! When I showed up to pick up the car she said "I hope you're not here to pick up a car because we're out". I obviously responded that they better not be out because I had a reservation. She looked me up and said "oh yeah, that's the only one left" Being a preferred member, I'm used to just going to the car and leaving. Instead I had to fill out all the paperwork again. That wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to hear her complain about everything. She gives me the keys and says it's outside on the left. This location is at a mall. Do you know how many SUVs are in the parking lot? No assigned parking spot or directions whatsoever. So after 15 minutes of walking around clicking the remote to locate the car, I finally found it 2 spaces from the back of the lot. The car is filthy. Still had some paint on the windows from the last person who rented it. Cars are supposed to be clean anyway, but especially now during Covid. I could see fingerprints on the console, the seats had crumbs in them and storage area had wood chips scattered. Disgusting! I had to clean the car myself because I was not dealing with that white trash woman again. Now for the return, ugh. I get back early so I wanted to drop the car off a day early. I called to see how I would go about this. I wasn't going to make it before they closed so asked about a drop box. She said "Are you crazy? Someone would steal it if we had that." So I took that ignorant comment as a "NO" and asked what time they opened the next day. She said 8:00 am. I show up at 8:15 and obviously the mall is closed. There is a number to call and they are supposed to answer and come take the car. I call, nobody answers, but it goes to customer service. I told them I don't have time to wait, I'm leaving the keys in the sun visor and leaving. They said they couldn't contact the location directly but they would make a note on my account. I wasn't comfortable with that so I called the location again and she answered. I told her that I called earlier and couldn't wait so I left the keys in the sun visor. She raised her voice and said I've been here all morning and the phone hasn't rang once. (Which is a lie). Then she said you can't just leave the keys in the car and leave. (Well I did, soooo). Here's the last straw before I snapped. She said that I had to bring the keys in. At this point I'm remembering the 15 minute scavenger hunt I had last week when I picked up the car. So I respond with I already left so you have to go get them. She started to reply and I cut her off. I told her to STFU and do your job. She started to scream and say I can't believe you just swore at me oh my god, oh my god. Really? You can't believe it? You deserved much worse. Dear Avis, close this location and fire this woman. He threatened that he would cancel my reservation if I didn't take that car the way it was, and since I really need the car I took it. Would love to give zero stars to this location, but is not possible. I made a reservation for a full size SUV a month ahead, when I showed up to pick up the car a lady named Karen greeted me at the door with an attitude: "if you are here for a car and don't have a reservation I don't have a car", I responded: "Good morning, yes I'm here for a car and I have a reservation." She looked me up in the system and said well I don't have your car, I have a Prius and pickup truck ,I ask when are you going to have more cars because I need a full size SUV. She said I'm getting 1 returned this afternoon at 4PM and another at 6PM, I said I didn't really have the time to come back but I will take the pickup truck and please call me when the 4PM gets returned , she said she doesn't call people I had to be there at 4PM if I wanted the car, I said I couldn't be there at 4PM because I'm taking my family to the zoo I didn't know what time I would be done, not my problem she said - at this point I'm already losing my patience but I'm with my 6 years old daughter with me so kept it as cool as I could. I came back at 425PM there was a guy there and the lady, I said I came for a courtesy exchange as she wrote on my confirmation paper, she said she had no cars and I reply you told me to be here at 4PM that you were getting a car returned she said I was wrong she told me to come back on Thursday, I couldn't come back on Thursday because that's the last day of my rental, then she was trying to give a 12 passenger van. Long story short Karen left, the guy gave me someone else's car , the car was dirty had no windshield wiper fluid on it the windshield full of bugs the car had half of tank of gas (they market as full in the contract knowing it wasn't , I just realized when I returned the car). It was a horrible experience that lady has a very nasty attitude and shouldn't be in customer service. The location is inside of a mall so when you receive the keys you have to go in the mall parking lot to look for the car, no parking spaces assigned just walk around hitting the vehicle panic button. read more

Terrible! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR RENTAL PLACE!!! I was given the option of a 15 passenger van when I initially booked a compact car for my rental. Like what?! Because of all the tolls I asked about the etoll service and the desk guy told me that it would cover all the tolls for 10.99 a day, so I said yes that would be great. Unfortunately with the new covid procedure and the additional money taken out if your credit card as insurance there's no way of knowing if it got added onto your bill. Once you return the car to Avis at the airport, because of covid procedures you leave the keys in the car and walk away. There's no receipt given to you at any time of what Avis is about to charge you! I have received 4 different charges for etolls and they also charged me for gas after getting a full tank less than 2 miles away from the airport. Super greedy, unreliable, and UNTRUSTWORTHY!!! This is the worst place to rent a car. The rental person(Karen) was rude and dis-concerned with the needs of anyone trying to get their rental. Had a compact reserved(paid in full) for noon, didn't arrive to get car until 4:00. When we arrived, the rental person(Karen) said we were late and she didn't have a car for us. I explained we expressed to the representative on the phone we would not be there until after 3:30 and they assured me it would not be an issue. Karen asked for the credit card we paid with and our licence to verify the reservation, as she then proceeded to add an additional charge of 381.00 to our credit card( mind you without even asking or telling us). When we asked what this charge was for Karen replied a security deposit. Karen also then found a car, only she said it was dirty because she had no time to check the vehicle when it was returned. So now they want us to take a car that not only is dirty but no one has checked to see if it had been damaged. We declined and of course she now had another vehicle for us(amazing). We expressed we were not willing to pay additional money for the rental. We called and spoke to Cassy in corporate, her only answer was each of these rental places are like franchise; whereas they have their own set of rules and nothing they can do but refund the money. Although, we were glad to get the money back we were left without having a rental. Also why we were there, Karen handed keys to a rental to a man who was renting the vehicle and told him the car is white it's out in the parking lot just hit the alarm on the keys and you'll find which one it is. No one went outside with him to look over the car before he took it. Then two women came in and Karen asked if something was wrong with the car she just gave them. The women replied that the car was really dirty and there was a puncher hole in the side of the car. Karen asked them if them hole was bigger then a half dollar, if not then it's fine, and if they were able to see out the front window that"s all that matters.
