I've rented cars in about a dozen different countries, and in probably 50 or more cities in the US over that period. I've seen what I consider to be good rental agencies, and a lot of marginal outfits...and worse. As a resident of Northwest Florida it's really nice to be able to say that I've found the best car rental location I've ever used, right here in the Niceville/Fort Walton Beach area. I've rented cars and vans from Advantage Rent-A-Car at the VPS airport over the past year. And I remember thinking to myself what a great experience it was, the first time I did business with them, and in every succeeding experience I've had with them. The customer service at the counter has been fantastic. The ladies who work there are always very friendly and helpful, they always offer me options that allow me to limit my costs while getting the best vehicle I can for the money I spent. Every time I've rented a vehicle from Advantage the cars and vans have been in top condition, and with low mileage. As someone who spends thousands of dollars a year on rental cars it's important to me to get good value and service. The Advance Rent-A-Car office at Northwest Florida Regional Airport is the friendliest, most professional business of it's kind I've ever had the pleasure to spend money with, and they've convinced me to look for Advantage offices wherever I travel. With that said, if you're President's Circle or Gold Plus, you DO need to go to the Rental desk first prior to getting in your rental, there isn't a "Black Board" with your information waiting for you. Once you're done with the Rental desk, the shared parking lot is a short walk and you'll be in your rental car in no time. I don't know who controls the inventories, but I was put in literally a brand new Toyota Sienna XLE Minivan with 20 miles on it. it was a great ride, i've never rented a cat and got a brand new car! Returning the rental was a bit odd, they weirdly don't have trash cans at the return area and stated just to keep the trash in the car. bizarre.

Getting your car at the Destin Airport is simple - you check in at the counter at baggage claim, get your keys, and walk about 1,000 steps to your car. The car was clean and fully fueled. We had no issues with it at all. It was comfortable. The only issue, something we hadn't noticed before we left, was the seats were worn in the back. We were a little concerned we would be blamed for it, but fortunately, that didn't happen. We purchased our fuel through Budget in advance - the gas prices near the airport were very high so I'm glad we did. We used about 3/4 of the tank so it saved us some money. Aside from the minor wear, it was a good experience. We'd rent from Budget if we go to Destin again.

Everything is explained to you at the counter, and they'll let you know what cars there are to choose from before getting to the parking lot. Just drive out, don't need to do an additional check when leaving the lot like at many rental agencies. Returning the car was quick and easy and someone drove me up to the door even though its super close. Although I'm concerned what would happen if a flight arrives late, because they close at 11 PM and I almost was changed to a flight arriving at 10:56 PM.

When bring the car back we had a long line for it to check in. He said put the keys on the dash and check it in when he can. So hours later he checked it in and so we get charged late fees. Got on a chat right away when I saw the bill and they said nothing they could do a manager will have to call you. It is now Thursday and no call. But my card is charged. I never get this experience at Enterprise at my local one. What a nightmare. Nothing like trying to go on vacation and dealing with all this bs after.
