Once you're done with the Rental desk, the shared parking lot is a short walk and you'll be in your rental car in no time. I don't know who controls the inventories, but I was put in literally a brand new Toyota Sienna XLE Minivan with 20 miles on it. it was a great ride, i've never rented a cat and got a brand new car! Returning the rental was a bit odd, they weirdly don't have trash cans at the return area and stated just to keep the trash in the car. bizarre.

Getting your car at the Destin Airport is simple - you check in at the counter at baggage claim, get your keys, and walk about 1,000 steps to your car. The car was clean and fully fueled. We had no issues with it at all. It was comfortable. The only issue, something we hadn't noticed before we left, was the seats were worn in the back. We were a little concerned we would be blamed for it, but fortunately, that didn't happen. We purchased our fuel through Budget in advance - the gas prices near the airport were very high so I'm glad we did. We used about 3/4 of the tank so it saved us some money. Aside from the minor wear, it was a good experience. We'd rent from Budget if we go to Destin again.

Just drive out, don't need to do an additional check when leaving the lot like at many rental agencies. Returning the car was quick and easy and someone drove me up to the door even though its super close. Although I'm concerned what would happen if a flight arrives late, because they close at 11 PM and I almost was changed to a flight arriving at 10:56 PM.
