Rude staff member, who is rarely at the desk and never apologises for anything. Arrogant, combative…read moreand thoroughly unpleasant. Waited 27 minutes for someone to appear when dropping off. He saunters in with a bag of chocolate for himself and not a single apology. Literally the worst experience I have ever had renting a car anywhere in the world.

Do NOT rent with Easirent. Sub standard in every way. First…read moreof all they won't take business credit cards. Why not ? Second of all they refused to take my Chase Bank Visa card because the numbers on the card are not raised. The guy at the counter in Aberdeen acted like it was a counterfeit card, a strange card the likes of which he had never encountered before. My best efforts to explain that most if not all USA cards don't have raised numbers anymore and that Chase is one of the biggest banks in America - were worthless. He just shrugged his shoulders. Numbers had to be raised. I even called Chase who said they had never heard of such a thing. He didn't care what they had to say. This guy called head office who affirmed this policy. I don't know what dark ages these people are living in. Seriously. None of my credit cards have raised numbers. And thank god I even had a personal card with me ! I asked him what he would suggest I do since I had already prepaid the car and at this stage had no faith in Easirents ability to refund it. He said he didn't know what to do. We were at a stalemate for a while. Eventually he called head office again , got someone else on the phone who said cards without raised numbers were ok if they were VISA cards. I said well this is a VISA. Ok finally we could proceed. He insisted on charging a $1500 deposit to my card. Additionally he went on and on about how I needed to buy extra insurance despite my assurances that not only would my credit card cover any excess but I had also purchased FULL insurance from Rentalcars.com through whom I made the booking. No he said that wouldn't do because Easirent would charge me multiple additional fees on top of everything that wouldn't be covered my insurance. It would be a VERY bad idea , he said, to drive any Easirent car without buying their additional policy. By this time I was ready to cancel the car but it was school holidays and I knew that there was a serious lack of availability. I was also in a time crunch . Had this not been the case I would have walked away there and then. Then I discovered that the one way drop fee to drop in Edinburgh was not included in the original quote . So now literally I'm paying five hundred pounds (no joke) to rent a car for a week. The car was a shitty old Honda that stank of cigarette smoke , the sat nav/ GPS was the cheap old kind that comes in a box and 10 miles down the road an engine light alert came on. I was not going to waste any more of my holiday on Easirent so I drove the car for the whole week with that engine light on and terrified that something was going to happen to it. The crowning glory is when I dropped the car in Edinburgh- they are so cheap that they've set their shop up by the long term car parking. They say there's a free shuttle to the airport - yes there is - it's the shuttle for the long term parking place ha ha ha. For the previous three weeks rental TOTAL with Hertz I paid less than I paid for this one week and I was upgraded for free to a brand new Volvo with internal sat nav / GPS. I will never ever use Easirent again. Buyer beware.
