I went to Dr. Kostas at the suggestion of my dentist after my jaw prosthetic (aka an "implant…read moresupported denture") cracked and broke in November. I have a jaw prosthetic for teeth #4-#8, status post a jaw and cheek bone resection in 2013 for a neoplasm of uncertain behavior (two different pathologists were unable to determine if it was benign or malignant, therefore it was treated as if it would act malignant). Dr. Kostas said that he would be able to remake the prosthetic and I was very anxious to get started. The broken prosthetic could not be fixed due to the extent and location of the damage. It was affecting my bite and it was expected to keep cracking, therefore we got started right away. I appreciated that we were able to jump right in. I asked if the re-make could be expedited since I would have to be without my prosthetic, basically 25% of my mouth, and could not eat or speak properly. I felt that if any case could ever be "rushed", it would be this one. Dr. K. agreed to request this from the lab. I got a call a week in and was told that it would be another 3 weeks. I was very upset and asked if it could please be any faster as I had very poor function without it. They were able to get it back the following week for me. When I went in to the office to get the piece seated, I was cautiously optimistic. I understand that this is a man made piece being put into a natural structure. I also understand that my case is not an easy or straight forward one. The new prosthetic fit very well, was very comfortable, and functioned like a dream. However, the prosthetic teeth were larger and more square than my natural teeth. I was mostly bothered by the look of prosthetic teeth #7 & #8 (the front right tooth and the tooth to the right of it). It wasn't a big deal if the other 3 prosthetic teeth were slightly larger as they are molars and not very visible with my smile. It is worth mentioning that my friends and family were able to see what I was talking about, however they did not feel like the difference was big enough that someone who didn't know what I have gone through would notice. When you have been through this kind of trauma with your jaw/face as a young woman, every detail matters. I let Dr. K. know my concerns and we went over some options. Because the piece fit and functioned so well, I did not want to take it out again. Instead I decided that I wanted to put a veneer on my natural tooth #10 as this tooth needs a composite build up and has to be redone every 3 years or so anyway (with the veneer I should not have to deal with this again for many years to come). Dr. K helped me to make this happen and now the tooth is a much better match to the opposite prosthetic tooth. We also did a Zoom whitening treatment in his office which made my teeth look flawlessly white and made all of the teeth, prosthetic and natural, really flow together. Side note- Zoom is the ONLY way to go for teeth whitening. I have done just about all of them and nothing compares to the Zoom. 3 months after breaking my original piece, I am finally done and have retainers and night guards to fit all of the new bits & pieces. I am happy with the results, my teeth actually look better than they ever have (pic attached, it is a selfie so it is opposite/mirror reflection). I did get a superficial chip in prosthetic tooth #6, but Dr. K was able to repair it. The prosthetic tooth may have been just a hair too long because it broke while I was chewing and it hit the bottom tooth. Again, it is a man made piece in a natural structure. If the small chip causes any problems in the future we will visit options from there. As patients, it is our responsibility to communicate our needs and concerns with the provider and be advocates for ourselves. I feel that Dr. K. wants his patients to be happy with their results and will work with you while you get through your journey. Thanks to all who were involved in my care with this!

I have been at Cherry Hills Dental Associates for 7 years. In 7 years I did not miss (or my…read morefamily) miss an appointment. We went through two Invisalign as well Now every time you go they bring you to their "office" to talk finances and put pressure to pay anything, even if you haven't had a chance to review the bill, and make sure insurance paid correctly. Now mind you I've never had any problems paying (though we switched insurance and wanted to make sure billing is right). So recently I went for a cleaning and they said the filling need replaced/fell out. Now this happened within 2 years and the same thing happened to my son. Seemed a little annoying. So we scheduled it and - guess what - it was right away (like a Monday) and I screwed up. First time in 7 years I missed the appointment My fault - so I scheduled another one. Set it to 11. Put it on my calendar and everything a few days later. I showed up . . and they said 10. I was like "what?". I setup everything - so maybe. I misheard. Now they did send messages and reminders. . but since it was on my calendar I didn't see them So here is the kicker - after 7 years and 1 mess up and 1 - miscommunication they sent me a bill for 135 for a "missed appointment". As soon as I got their voicemail I left them a message letting them know that they could pick forgetting the late fee or cancel my appointment and relationship So after 7 years and one busy messed up week, they said "go somewhere else" Fair enough - but people, this isn't the place for you. If my seven years of experience don't help you your zero years will be worse.

During a recent visit, Dr. Gibbs diagnosed a cracked tooth and recommended a cap. I sought a second…read moreopinion from another dentist, who assured me the tooth could be repaired without the need for a cap. I had the tooth repaired at a much lower cost than what CHDA quoted. I decided to return to CHDA for my routine cleaning because of its convenient location, but things went downhill when Dr. Gibbs found out I had the tooth repaired elsewhere. His attitude changed immediately--he questioned why I was back in his chair and not at the other dentist's office. He then removed his gloves, threw them on the tray, and abruptly said, "I guess we are done!" before leaving without completing the exam. He never asked how he could have served me better or why I chose another practice. This experience has made me decide not to return.

It was time to go, so I called Rocky Mountain Kids Dentist to schedule an appointment. They said that because it has been so long and they are a new practice, we are now considered new customers. For some odd reason I still felt like they are our kids' dentists - some level of loyalty. I said "Okay that's fine. By the way, how much is the new patient special for the usual exam, cleaning and x-rays?" Their rep says without hesitation, "$450 to start for each child for each visit... likely more depending on what needs to be done." Yikes! I wonder how much more they charge once they have your loyalty. I asked if they had an in-house dental savings plan as I'm self-employed and you cant buy good individually-purchased dental insurance. I was told they would have to ask and get back to me. They never called back. After being forgotten about, I decided to look elsewhere and we landed at Grin Pediatric Dentistry. Great visit that my kids loved and we gladly signed up for their dental savings plan that includes 2 exams, cleanings, x-rays per year plus a couple other "whoops" visits and some other benefits including a pretty nice welcome gift for $300 a year. They used their gentle chairside manner aided by technology to very clearly explain and demonstrate why my kids might need some additional preventative treatments and laid out the very reasonable costs very clearly. It was a very positive experience that I'll write a review about. I write about Grin in this review in hopes that Rocky Mountain Kids Dentist can use Grin's example to learn how to win and retain loyal patients. Most patients, while loyal, don't like to be taken advantage of with really off market pricing. You might want to read the proverbial room better or train your oh so critical customer facing staff a bit better before they, you know, face potential customers if that rep was simply wrong.
