As I got older people started to tell me I shouldn't do that. Apparently, bread in moderation isn't that bad for ducks. The problem is that you can give a duck a moderate amount of bread, but you have no idea how many other people are giving that duck a moderate or excessive amount of bread. That amount of bread isn't good for a human, let alone a duck. Ducks don't have the self control to be concerned about their overall carb intake. We're responsible for having the self control for them by not giving them bread. If I was given unlimited bread every time I was at a park with a pond, I'd go to parks with ponds all the time and have so many health issues. I can't imagine what these ducks must be going through. Anyway, I didn't feed the ducks because I was told not to interfere with nature, but aren't humans a part of nature? Or are we just considered an interference? Also we interfere with other animals in so many ways. Why do we draw the line with ducks and bread? Like we've created a type of dog called a Pithuahua. That means a breeder had a pitbull and chihuahua have a baby. That seems like a pretty big interference, but I guess feeding a duck some bread is crossing the line. All I'm trying to say is that I didn't feed the ducks at Lamar Park. Mostly because I was scared that someone was going to walk up with their Pithuahua and yell at me because I was interfering with nature. I ended up still having a fun time here, it was beautiful.

This place was so cool. There's literally no signage. It's not really commercialized trying to sell you a bunch of stuff. It's literally drive up, pay, buy food, drive thru and feed the animals. No frills. Just Easy peasy. There were so many animals and they were all very active. There's also a petting barn where you can get out of your car and see goats, birds and lemurs. People are complaining about the long drive thru or not seeing animals? Well it's not a zoo. It's more of a natural habitat for them. And it was awesome. It's worth doing at least once. We will definitely go back. The zebras and giraffes were my favorite. You can also drive thru as many times as you want so keep that in mind when considering the price. And it's not busy or packed at all. You can take your time.

The gate appears to be closed and I can see a parking lot . I tried to go around 3 times and it stops me in front of someone's house. Definitely a local park!

We'd have nice visits and meals cooked on the grill. I'd have never known about this place, otherwise. A former colleague of mine would also regularly have family reunions here. I would hesitate to camp here due to the preponderance of fire ant hills located all over the campground. Hopefully, that's improved, but sleeping on the ground is something that I'm too old for anymore.

Sure, other colleges may have huge vacant areas shaded by massive, beautiful trees, but they don't have the Walk of Champions, the Pride of the South, and no one greets you with "Hotty Toddy" or "How's your Mamma and 'em?" There's only one Grove and it's at Ole Miss. Read this review with a slow, Southern drawl: It's a place where Saturdays are holy days and Ole Miss football is religion. Sorority girls and alumni ladies are dressed to the nines. Tents are adorned with ice sculptures, crystal chandeliers, fine silver, fancy tablecloths in red, white and blue, of course, and there's more delicious food spread out than you could eat in a week. Some folks even bring their tvs and satellite dishes so they can kick back and watch football until the big game starts. Boys and men toss around footballs in their Church clothes. It's a hellava party from sunrise to dark. There are no strangers here, just friends you haven't met yet. Before the game starts you have to gather around the Pride of the South as they play in front of the Student Union, then crowd around the Walk of Campions and wish the team luck as they make their way to the Vaught. You can feel the love in the air and it puts you in the mood for the excitement that will soon follow! There's a reason ESPN and Sports Illustrated rave about the Grove. If you get a chance to go on a game day, I'd highly recommend it. In the words of Larry Wamble, (even though I can't stand double negatives), "We may not win every game, but we ain't never lost a party".

From park slides and swing days with the kids when they were little, to adventures in the wooded trail in the hidden areas, softball games, Pokemon Go days, to parades, 4th of July celebrations, the list goes on and on. I've probably walked 500 miles or more on these trails. The trails around the park are fantastic. You meet so many great people on any trek around the park. They keep the ponds stocked well with fish and there is a dock that takes you out to the middle of the largest pond. Please pay attention to the catch limits though. There is a dog park, many covered pavilions, grills to use for cooking, a very cool, all inclusive playground for the kids, and tons of baseball fields. They do Christmas lights around the Holidays that are pretty. The police presence is always pretty high. There is usually a cop in the park at all times and they do not play if you step out of line here. I dig that. We are very lucky to have this safe space for all families to visit and have fun.
