I love Aveiro. I want to live here. I love the canal boats, the fun cafes, the ovos moles (or however you spell that candy name), the cool stores. I was only here for a half a day, but I could easily have spent much longer. The people are lovely, the town isn't crowded, and it's drop dead gorgeous. I guess some people call it the Venice of Portugal- which is kind of an insult as it's much nicer than Venice- which stinks and is full of obnoxious shoving tourists. Aveiro isn't a thing like that.
