The facial was relaxing and you can tell that they really know and care about their products. Walked me through everything and even offered some samples at the end, I did not feel pressured to buy like most places. However their products are so high quality that it's hard to resist! We were driving out of town and I realized I forgot my hair gel. Luckily this aveda store wasn't too out of our way while we were driving. The store is located upstairs to the right of the escalators. I have med/thick wavy hair in the 2's and use the flax seed and confixer gels all the time. I've tried the nutriplenish curl gelee but didn't like it. They definitely try to upsell a lot here but as a former retail store manager & employee I get it. You have to meet the daily avg sale & total sales when you work retail. Regardless, the person who greeted and helped me was very nice and I'd definitely go back to this store. read more

After Gila Rut salon was closed early AGAIN, I headed over to Fashion Valley because I was completely out of Rosemary Mint Conditioner, that I've been using for almost 30 years. Yes, I was 9 when I started using it (*cough*, I'm lying). I drove over to the mall in an absolute foul mood because I'm sick of Gila Rut being closed early without warning. Enter Matthew. He was like an angel sent down just for me on a night where I was dreading a trip to the mall. I arrived at the mall so incredibly annoyed and left feeling relaxed with a luscious feeling face and hands. Matthew was so good at explaining different products, especially the thickening tonic that I'm hoping will help me with my baby fine hair. SOLD! I should have bought some of the lavender, sage & clary sage oil that he put on my wrists but I'm sure I'll walk away with some on my next trip. It smells divine, like a spa embedded into my wrists. Since I was there, I thought I would help the last hour of Matthew's shift go by faster and help myself to a free mini-facial. YUM! I was so relaxed that I was afraid I'd fall asleep in the car in the parking lot. Seriously, give Matthew a promotion, a raise, a new car..something! While I was browsing, I overheard him talking to another customer and he knows his stuff! He not only has great product knowledge but he's one of those people who has an aura that automatically calms you. After talking about a mask I've been using from The Body Shop, we figured out that I know him from when he worked there! Small world! Thank you Aveda for stealing him, I rarely go into TBS anymore. Mom and I stopped in to buy Dad's shampoo while we were running errands. The clerk that waited on us was polite and very welcoming. She directed us to the area where we'd find Dad's shampoo and then asked if we had time to sit down for a free hand massage. Mom received a stress relief hand massage with scented oils and lotions and I received an energy boost one. I like that the clerk didn't try to push us to purchase anything from the massage session, instead she made small talk with us while she did each massage. I liked the oil that was used for my massage, as it was light and pleasant, yet I did feel more perky from the time I walked out the door to a few hours later at home. I'm hooked on the Aveda facial care products. Why would anyone go into a salon, when you can go to an Aveda store and get a complimentary facial? I feel like I have to limit my free facials to 2 per year because I don't want to take advantage of the amazing offer. I recently went in to re-up on my face wash and moisturizer, and figured nights as well see if they could squeeze me in for a facial. This was my 3rd Aveda facial, and wow, Hans was quite wonderful. I felt like he was happy to be doing it. He was thoughtful, and had a great touch. The 1st 2 I got were at least six months ago from a woman whose name I can't remember; but she waS also really good. I just felt like the talented people working there who give the amazing facials deserved some extra points for being so amazing! read more

I'm a big fan of Aveda products ever since I had turn down service at a hotel where they drew a bath for me and scented it with Aveda oils...ever since then I've been buying shampoos, makeup, and oils from Aveda. I really love the postcards they send for samples and every year for my birthday they send me a postcard for a free personal blends gift (a full size perfume or bath salt product)... And I'm a big fan of Aveda's founder; Horst Rechelbacher. They had the book that he authored, Aveda Rituals here and I flipped through it last time I visited. The book had aruyvedic and massage techniques and is beautifully photographed. I started doing scalp, neck, and shoulder rosemarylavender massages after reading about it in this book. Horst Rechelbacher is an organic farmer (I'm a big organic gardening fan) and he is launching a new line called Intelligent Nutrients; skin care, hair care, personal lubricants, baby care, and functional foods and nutraceuticals....plant based products are much less toxic for you than petroleum based cosmetics because our skin absorbs 70% of what we put on it! Now that it's holiday season, I've been using the hair powder which is really great for adding volume and making my hair less slick so that it'll stay up in an up-do for holiday parties (especially useful for 80's parties). I like that it melts in my hair because when I first considered getting it I was a little frightened that it would look like white powder in my hair but it doesn't...YAY! read more

I love the way Aveda's products make my hair feel, unfortunately I'm not too fond of the way they smell. Don't get me wrong or anything, but I'm not a fan of sandalwood, musk, or generally plant/herb scents. I love fruity scents. I highly recommend the hair gloss they have. read more

I love Aveda, and this particular store is pretty amazing. The ladies here are very knowledgable about all of the products and can almost always figure out if a product will work for me or not. If it doesn't, they are right on top of the problem trying to fix it for me! What can I say... Aveda products are awesome. Just bring your fully loaded bank account because they are uber expensive!!! I love that they offer a sample of hot tea while you shop and are friendly to offer advise. I was in Dallas for a Texas Rangers game and stayed at the Baylor Indigo Hotel. They had some Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo. This stuff was AMAZING! I dropped by this Aveda store and picked up the biggest containers of the Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. I've been here twice and both times they served some kind of free tea. I have been a fan of Aveda products for YEARS. I shop at the Fashion Valley store often but rarely take advantage of the complimentary perks of massages or facials. Yesterday I had some extra time so decided I would have the massage. Corinna was lovely! She talk me about different products and provided a very relaxing massage. I enjoyed it so much I returned today and had her give me a mini-facial (amazing) and a bit of make-up chat. I left with more products but not because of hard sell but because Corinna was so good! They are well educated and informed on their products and will provide samples of other ones that you may be interested in. I just stopped by here today to stock up on some of my favorites. As always, the staff is informative but not at all pressure sales. I was immensely impressed by the young lady that assisted me. I needed to get out of the store quickly, but also needed some recommendations. She was helpful and quick and I walked out of the store with three things I had planned to buy but also some tea that I had not planned on buying. When I entered the store they offered me some tea - it was delicious and I had to know what it was. It is a tea that is naturally sweet. I give five stars for product and customer service throughout the entire 10 years I have consistently used Aveda products. I thought their rewards program was good until I had all of the points taken away for supposed none use for two years and when I attempted to have them restored I was told to send in an itemized sales receipt to show use. Who keeps their sales receipts for purchases of moisturizers? I was told maybe the store in Fashion Valley did and when I asked them I was directed back to headquarters. Ping pong!!! read more
