This huge restaurant seems to be an institution in Halle. Decorated with all sorts of memorabilia…read moreof past days, it is a real treat for the eye. Take some time wandering around and exploring pictures and objects of the old Halle dating back to horse and carriage times.
The menu is traditional German cuisine, with a special seasonal menu for the likes of Christmas, 'Spargelzeit' etc. Most dishes can be had either as a regular or a small portion, with the small portion being big enough to feed the average adult. I had the horse goulash with red cabbage and potato dumplings, amazing! They do brew their own beer on the premises and have a good selection of German and other European wines. All this counts up to 4 stars, the fifth star is for service and price. The staff was lovely, welcoming and straight away offered an English menu. My main meal cost 9.90Euro which I still can't believe as it was amazing and so much food, I couldn't fit a desert in. And that was the small portion! If you ever find yourself in G.F.Handel's home town, try this place for a proper German dining experience with a bit of history on the side.
