Some pieces were completely broken and there were tremendous gouges and more. Members of the Furniture Clinic arrived and inspected the damage. They took some pieces with them to the shop to repair... they were very friendly and assured us that the furniture would be restored. A week or so later, they came back and spent a good part of the day restoring the pieces. The broken pieces that were fixed in the shop were phenomenally restored! I was amazed. I strongly recommend this family-run business.

So, I said OK. I bought more fabric at another place to ensure the next purchase of fabric wouldn't be lost. When I took that in, they told me they had no record of my buying fabric or having a credit. Then, I showed them their paperwork and the receipt from American Express which I had taken a photo of on my phone. They told me that they did not believe it because it was not the yellow piece of paper they had given me originally but just a picture of it. I was OK with their losing my fabric. I am not OK with them not honoring the financial agreement. I asked to be reimbursed. They refused to do even this. So, I'm taking this up with American Express. One other thing is I asked them about their recordkeeping. I was told they didn't really keep records. I explained they needed to in order to file taxes and then to keep the records in case of an audit. I was told they didn't bother with any of that. It all seemed very unorganized and suspicious to me as well as my adult son who was with me.

Contemplating the $3000 it costs to replace the top and about to weep, I found these guys. I spoke with Jeff on the phone and he said come on in. I got there and Ray came out and commiserated with me then pulled out a needle and industrial thread and started to repair it. He regaled me with stories about how this used to happen a lot in the 80's as he worked. After the stitch job, he put on a patch and charged me a little bit of money (infinitely less than $3000). It is a patch, but I'm pretty confident that it isn't going to leak and as soon as I have the money to replace the top, I'll be back. Their main business is redoing seats, car interiors, etc, but these guys are just really, really nice and honost. Anytime I deal with car repair people, I get a shiver up my spine, but I think these guys are good people. If you go by there, say hey from me!
