Today was really bad. They've always been very good at glitter, cat eye, etc and encouraged me to bring in my own glitter since they don't carry a lot in house. The first very nice woman clearly had zero clue how to do dip glitter (which I explained at the front exactly what I was wanting to do, which I have done here before). Cut to two hours later this woman (not her fault, she didn't have the right experience and also couldn't understand what I was saying) had taken a very, very long time to do a semi-simple job. The lovely man who took over for her and completely erased everything she did for two hours was their normal efficiency. But because they didn't have the time, the job is completely botched. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful he did it, but I also did not want to be sitting there for 3.5 hours for something that would have taken the second man 1 hour to do. It's been 3 hours and my nails are peeling. If you can't do something, then don't say you'll do it. Worse yet, if someone spends two hours literally ruining a customers nails - the next person who does it better have the time to fix it correctly, and you should be mindful to make sure it's done correctly. Or say come back some other time? I'm not sure. But what I'm sure of is today was a complete waste of my day, time, probably theirs as well, and I paid full price and got a very poor result. Been coming here for years and not sure I will come back. I adore the guy who jumped and fervently "fixed" a very poor job... but he also very clearly didn't finish it well. And I wasn't happy about sitting through watching the botched job either, so it was never a favor For reference - the mint is what I left with today after 3.5 hours, which is now peeling. And not sparkling. And not properly sealed because the second time around was insanely rushed. The pink/blue/purple was the same glitter in March. Took one of their artists 1 hour at most, stayed for weeks, and wasn't $90. Inconsistent. read more

I've been coming to Avatar Nail Spa for a while now, and I'm honestly so impressed with the recent facelift and changes they've made. The salon feels so much more modern, clean, bright, and relaxing. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR NAILS. Came in for a gel removal and regular manicure. The nail tech butchered my nails with the drill. So disappointed that I came here. The price is good but not worth it after seeing how poorly my nails were cared for. read more

I wish I had something positive to say about Avatar Nails, but frankly, it's quite the opposite. I requested a gel manicure. This service is $45. My first concern is that they do your gel manicure while you are sitting down on their chairs with a pillow on your lap as their "table" workspace. I didn't think much about it, but a few days later I noticed that they did a very poor job on my gel manicure. Why? My nails were chipping within FOUR days of my appointment! The gel even lifted at the cuticle area within three to four days and it looked so poorly done. It seriously looked as if a child had done my nails at home! Sadly I will not be returning. The $45 gel manicure is just not worth my money or time. I expect my gel manicures to last two weeks, as they have always lasted when I get my nails done at other nail salons. read more

It was an interesting setup for pedicures. They don't have the traditional massage chairs with the water tub n jets. They just have lazy boy like chairs and they bring a bucket/tub/basin with soapy water. It does have one of those plastic liners in it. The place was busy on Friday early afternoon. Good section of colors, prices were pretty clear. I did want to get my nails painted only, no manicure and they told me $12 which I felt was a lot so I went down to Sally's and bought the color myself for $12 lol. But the pedicure was nice, the staff was all very nice. So if you don't like the massage chairs I recommend this place but If you want the soaking and bubble jets tub, this isn't for you. read more

Friendly and caring workers. Price is fairly cheaper than most salons in LA. They recently remodeled their salon and it looks better than ever. The aesthetic there is very simple and clean. I would recommend checking them out if you are ever in the area. read more

If you come get your nails done here plz do not let them give you some lady named LAYLA, as soon as I walked in I was greeted nicely ofc, but I asked for a soak off for my old nails to put on new ones. Layla didn't know how to do a proper soak off she kept taking my hand out to drill the acrylic off like five times which I kept telling her that the drill was hurting my nails, and I let her know that I've had a soak off before and they let your hands soak in the acetone they use for soak offs and remove the gunk with a cuticle pusher.. To make matters worse she legit glued my fingers together and was jamming her brush in between my fingers to separate them! This service took so long and the out come wasn't what I expected, and at that point I just wanted to leave. I made sure to tell the guy in the front about my experience and he said "it'll be $90 please" I payed cash and left.. never coming back again! And I hope ppl see this review before coming here, because I'm sure they'll try to delete it! read more

I have been a customer for many years. I regularly get dip manicures and regular pedicures. They are consistently good in taking care of me. Most of the time Maya does my nails. She puts a lot of time and effort into her work. It has been my experience. When I walk in, I feel special and that they are glad to see me. Avatar has a steady, consistent clientele who are regulars for good reasons. I highly recommend this nail salon. read more

Kim is hands down the best nail tech I've ever been to! She's so detailed and precise, and my nails always come out perfect--whether it's a classic set or something more creative. I constantly get compliments after every appointment. On top of her amazing work, the salon itself is spotless, modern, and super comfortable. Everything is kept so clean and organized, which makes the whole experience even better. You can really tell they care about hygiene and making clients feel at ease. Avatar nails is clean and the nail techs are all pretty good! I've gotten my nails and pedicure by several of the techs and they all do a good job but my favorite nail tech is my man Harris! He slayed my wedding nails so I always trust him to do a good job. The manager is also super cute and friendly. Highly recommend! read more

Avatar nails is my absolute favorite salon! I won't go anywhere else. They are always accommodating when you call to make an appt, and they even fit you in as a walk in if you don't have one. All the staff are hard working and do a great job, especially with pedicures. Ever since I discovered Harris, I fell in love with his talent and artistry. No matter what inspiration pic I show him, he is not only able to execute any complicated design, but he actually makes it look even better than I pictured. I have complete trust in him and his incredible talent. My nails last over a month each time and never chip or break. He is a beautiful artist! Helen is wonderful too -- both are so talented and really take their time. I can almost always get an appointment quickly when I call, which is such a plus. The service was super disappointing. My partner and I both requested "organic" mani/pedis and received different services! The products used were definitely NOT organic... they were cheap, synthetic products that caused a rash on my skin. My partner left in pain because the technician wasn't paying attention. They overcharged and under delivered. My guy acted as though I was an inconvenience. The vibe was horrible. read more

I usually go during the week when it's less busy, weekends are busier so I recommend making an appointment, if possible. read more

Sad to have to write this review after many years of coming to this nail salon due to the convenience of it being near my home. I had a terrible situation happen last night. I went in for a regular mani/ pedi and for some reason they used an electric file on my nails. This not only hurt and made me flinch several times but left my nails looking horrendous. It scraped and left divots on my natural nails. I have never had anyone use an electric file on my natural nails and I'm not sure why they did this time, especially since I was not doing acrylics or anything of the sort. My nail technician was the sweetest lady so I really didn't want to make an issue so paid and left. I was unhappy with how they looked but I didn't realize until the next day in the daylight the damage that was done to my nails. When I called and asked to be reimbursed they asked for pictures which I provided. After seeing the results of my service they refused to refund me. Instead they offered to give me a gift card with the amount I spent to compensate for the damage. My toenails also got botched, but are covered with polish so it doesn't show as bad as my hands. After having your nails destroyed, the offer of a gift card to go back was unacceptable. Why would I ever want to go back to a place that does something like this?! I am writing this review to warn others of the poor customer service I received and the damage that can be done to your nails. Beware... read more

I like this place a lot. Mainly I go because the prices are actually reasonable--the most reasonable in the area that I've found. The only annoyance is this is a CASH ONLY place. They do not accept Venmo Zelle anything else but they do have an ATM inside. Still, even w/that annoyance, it is my go-to place. They don't always give you a good massage unless you pay extra for it, like sometimes they barely touch your arms and legs for mani/pedi massage but, eh. read more

I was able to call and make an appointment for 2 pedicures. The receptionists (I interacted with 2) both had great, easy to understand English. The person who did my pedicure was great. My friend and I were also left alone at the end so our polish could fully dry. We never were pressured to upgrade our services, add anything on, or leave when done. Such a peaceful experience! Super affordable. Easy parking lot or some street parking available. Just keep in mind this place is cash only, though there is an ATM on site. read more

I've been coming regularly to get acrylic fills and pedicures. For several months I would see Mary for my fills. She always took great care of me and my nails lasted for a solid 3 weeks. So far I've had two techs since Mary left. My last tech was Tina and WOW!!! I am in love with her work! I was well overdue for a fill and she made my nails look GORGEOUS! Really want to like this place because everyone is so kind and nice. Not going to name the nail tech who did this but I kinda knew this was going to happen when I saw the finish job. (I've been doing gel nail over decades at this point) Supposed to last "2weeks" and when I usually get my gel done, it lasts 3+weeks. I scheduled a gel manicure and regular pedicure to try this place for the first time last Monday. When I arrived I sat there for a while unattended, so eventually asked if I should go pick out polishes, but I was told to stay seated. They were out of not one, but two polishes I wanted! There was a big language barrier with both guys doing my manicure and pedicure so they eventually called someone else over to communicate with me. The guy doing my pedicure did a great job, no pain and minimal discomfort - nice painting too! However, he charged me extra for callus removal and I thought that was part of the service - I think any additional costs should be clarified BEFORE treatment. The guy doing my manicure hurt my fingers a couple times with rough filing, but overall did a great job with the shaping and painting. The website stated the manicure came with a "free soak off" of gel, but my nails were definitely not fully soaked - I felt they were damaged more with the removal of old gel than I expected. I tried to communicate that, but again - language barrier. Overall, I was satisfied with the appearance of my nails even if the atmosphere and experience fell short, but not even a whole week has passed, and these strange lines/cracks (?) have formed on several nails, which has never happened to me before. This business is super closeby with ample parking and I wanted to love it, so I'm bummed that I probably won't return here any time soon. Maybe I'll check reviews and request someone next time if I decide to give the place a second chance! read more

I've been there once prior and they were great! Went a couple days ago and got a complete opposite experience. I was disappointed because when I got the wrong acrylic set I asked for (length, shape, and mostly the design was all off), they didn't do much about it. It seemed like this was a usual issue they encounter so they just said sorry and sent me on my way. Interesting approach, being that nails are very expensive these days.. but maybe I'm being dramatic. read more

Always does a great job - no matter who does my nails or pedicure. The establishment is clean and offers big comfortable chairs. They're pretty busy on weekends, but I always get in even if I walk in. The only thing I would critique is the prices. Pretty expensive for nails. read more

Dirty and bad manicure. The two "technicians" doing my nails were not rude or nice. I'd describe them as apathetic. All of the surfaces were dirty. I don't know why I didn't just leave. Very professional response. Isn't that part of your jobs? Also, how does that change the fact that your facility is disgustingly dirty. At least now everyone on Yelp reading this review can see how unprofessional you are. Please... respond again! You're reinforcing my review. PS... I paid $95 for an "upgraded" Avatar Mani/Pedi w/paraffin for both. 100% not worth it. I'm sure there are other places in LA that care about the service they provide. read more

I have been a repeat costumer but there a few things. First , you might book an appointment with a specific nail tech and might still have to wait over half an hour. I also noticed when I was getting French tips not everybody knows how to do it so you have to ask over and over and describe what you want. One time I came in and my nails were chipped days after the appointment and communication lapsed so I had to pay for a mani instead of just get the broke ones fixed. My least favorite thing about this studio is that they don't have a proper chair so you have to lift your feet up and it's not relaxing. You might or might not get a little hand or foot massage with your service but I would prefer consistency. Last, the nail artists file down your nail beds so far down with gel removal even if you ask them to go gentle leaving me with sensitive nails. Which is the reason I left my other nail studio. It's a nice environment sure but you could likely find a more consistent and relaxing place. If you want healthy nails or relaxing experience you find somewhere better. They also kept trying to upsell me things that I didn't want read more

Parking is super easy in the lot in her building, or at one of the meters out front. It is really easy to schedule with Sandy & has she really gone out of her way to be available for me to come in.
