Corey is AMAZING! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. I did not have a long wait at all. The facility is clean. What more could you ask for? read more

I hate to contribute to the 1 star reviews, but I'm going to. I have ongoing cholesterol issues. I've ran out of medication. My pharmacy has sent in the request to refill 3 times - zero response from Preston Medical Associates. This has happened several times now. I called to request the refill. I have an appointment ~45 days away, but the staff is willing to provide only 30 days worth and demands I come in earlier than my appointment time. I have a newborn and a job. I can't just come in whenever I want. This has happened several times now. The lack of response, the incredibly impolite front desk, and terrible business practices can't make up for the otherwise good treatment I receive from Melynda Smith. My expectation is when the pharmacy request a refill, and they're not willing to refill it, they should have called me immediately to state why. Not leave me guessing for almost two weeks (with no medication mind you) just to ask me to come in for tests. 1 star. I need to find a new provider I believe. read more

Was 10 minutes late to an appointment because of traffic and well it's not exactly clear where the entrance was and they were unable to see me despite being told by ER that if I experienced new symptoms after hitting my head I should seek out medical care. Explained that to them and was basically told to buzz off read more

Please please do not use this practice. They NEVER return phone calls. They pad their bills. My doctor did not see patients who are sick (don't I need a doctor the most when I'm sick???) They lost my medical records and blood test results. They are totally unorganized. I am in my 70's and have never visited a worse medical practice. read more

Ms. Tisdale took the time and care with me to answer all questions. She scheduled all lab tests and will be following up next week. An excellent experience. read more

I have been a patient for 27 years. My last name is still spelled wrong! I can only afford 3 of my prescriptions at one pharmacy that fills prescriptions with Good Rx. The runaround to get my preferred pharmacy changed has been a nightmare. I finally got refills to my NEW preferred pharmacy but this particular pharmacy cannot be found in the portal so I can permanently change it. Last time I tried phoning, I left messages and even showed up in the office to straighten it out. No one would speak to me. After 2 weeks of hassling, I finally received the prescription notice from my new preferred pharmacy but received a very unkind note stating that I needed to be clear about where I wanted my prescriptions sent. All of this was discussed in a Telehealth visit but nothing was ever changed plus 2 of the prescriptions were the wrong dosage - 1 for a higher dosage and the other for a lower dosage. It's been a nightmare. it's sad that this once wonderful practice has gone downhill. Most everything has to be done on a portal and it's hard to navigate. I cannot recommend this practice. read more

Do not use! They over bill you and your insurance company. And, good luck trying to get anyone to call you back. I spoke with someone in the billing office (in the Philippines) three different times, and each time, I was told someone from Avance would call me back. No one called me. I am leaving the practice.PS I've been a patient for 12+ years. read more

Stay away. This used to be my husband's primary care facility. When he told me stories of the care he received there, I urged him to find a new doctor. Once, I brought my husband in when he was in so much pain, he could barely move. He is a tolerant man, and never complains about anything, so this was serious business. They were dismissive/disinterested in his pain. He proceeded to scream in agony for days. After calling several times, and over the course of three days, neither my husband or I could get anyone to call back. Oh, and the waiting room smells like cat pee. read more

Dr Katherine Mallory, and the nurses are very professional and give good service. Unfortunately, their Billing Department is very rude. 1. They do not have an online portal to pay the Bills 2. When you call then to pay the bills, they ask you to press 4 for Billing. When you press 4, no one ever picks up and they ask you to leave a voice mail. When u leave a voicemail they never ever call you back 3. Then they send very unpolite, threatening mail stating that they will send to collections. 4. When you finally get through to them, they tell u that i should have never pressed 4 in the first place, and just should have gone to front desk. The Front Desk was not very polite either. 5. When i asked to speak to their manager, they send you back to the same voicemail. Needless to say, I cancelled all my upcoming appointments and will be choosing some practice with better customer service. I will be sending a personal note to Dr Katherine Mallory as well and I hope she chooses a better practice so that i can continue to be her patient. read more

I do not recommend this doctors office. Its not the worst but there is definitely something wrong with how they run the filling department.

My husband and I have been patients here for 14+ years. We have only seen the nurse practitioners over the years, and that is by our choice-- Ms Hessian (who moved years ago) and now Ms Peacock. I have a chronic issue that I've been working with Ms Peacock to control and she has proven to be extremely knowledgeable and compassionate throughout the years. The medical assistants and Lpn's are professional and personable. They make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The front desk and checkout staff are equally as helpful. Yes, there have been times that I had to wait longer for an appointment than I wanted to, but good offices are busy and juggling many patients. Whenever I have had an urgent matter, they always work me in to get the care I need. I highly recommend Ms Peacock! read more

DO NOT EVER GO HERE! I left my house knowing there was construction on chapel hill road .. with the lights I was still 10 mins late, when you're over 10 mins late they reschedule you .. And I have a call and told them I was a few mins late.this place is only about money and how they can take your money.. they charge on different billing codes to your bill also.. I told the lady at the front desk I'm just switching doctors when she was trying to schedule me in months later just for a medication check up follow up appointment .. and she was totally fine with losing a patient.. this place does not care about the patients at all it's just about the money :( read more

Is it too much to ask of your primary care physician to give you your test results in a timely manner... 7 weeks, 3 phone calls and now I am pissed. Still no results. Office says the doctor has NOT reviewed them yet. UNACCEPTABLE. I sit here in the doctor office and have demanded that another doctor review the results and release them to me today. Not leaving this office until I get it. Then I am looking for another practice. For all my local friends. . PRESTON MEDICAL is the facility. Time to move on!!!! read more

The worst! I wait two months for a physical, travel from almost an hour away, hit some traffic so I call ahead to let them know I might be ten minutes late and, according to the receptionist, Dr. Almaz Smith says not to come in, I need to reschedule for another two months down the road! Excuse me? For ten minutes?!? When I'm almost there? Can I speak to Dr Smith? No, unavailable (even though it is MY appointment time). There is almost no appointment that I haven't had to wait at least ten minutes! Totally inflexible and not understanding of patients. Hypocritical. My husband, his mom, and I all went here... No longer! How arrogant of Dr. Smith. I suspect that she just wanted to charge for a missed appointment. For 10 minutes!?! Unbelievable. read more

Great care here but I am hounded to return every three months to check my cholesterol and when I refuse, it has turned into a fight. (No diabetes or heart disease, just elevated lipids.) Since I have a high deductible plan, that's about $150, or more, for visit and lab. I have complained about this for about two years. I asked to have my last visit billed as preventative care which is 100% covered (no dice). I'm not made out of money, so I've found another practitioner who understands that not everyone lives in Preston and can afford to leave work and fork over their weekly food bill every three months. read more

After being a patient for more than 9 years I was treated like garbage after being 15 minutes late for a routine appointment. The witch at the front desk told me I'd have to reschedule. This was for a simple prescription update appointment. An appointment I was forced to make in order to get refills for diabetes medicine I've taken for a decade. I then switched to a new physician at another practice and Preston medical refused to send my records until they were requested at least 3 times. Stay away. read more

This clinic might be soon going out of business. Dr Almas Smith is the rudest i've encountered in my life. We had been going here since 1999 and finally made the switch to another clinic in Apex as we couldn't tolerate her or the staff anymore. The most irritating thing is they will not return any calls even in the situation is urgent. They just don't care even if you are dying or in distress. Avoid under all circumstances. read more

I've been going to Preston Medical as my primary for over 10 years now. I had Dr. Reynolds before he moved away, and now doctor Smith for at least the last 6 or 7 years. She is the best primary I have ever been to. She is has been great at figuring out my issues and recommending really good specialist when my issues go beyond her scope. She's very kind and caring. Yes, appts often run late, but it's because she is trying to give each patient the care they need. read more

I am beyond angry at this point. They truly have gone downhill in the last few years. I hate to say that because I absolutely love the providers in the office. I was feeling awful a few weeks ago, went to the doctor, got a prescription for it, and went on my way. Later on my way to the pharmacy, it wasn't there. Come to find out it was sent to a pharmacy that I've NEVER used before. I called to get it fixed and they said it would be fixed within the hour. Perfect, I thought! But nope! It wasn't there and by that point it was after hours so I couldn't call. I called the next morning and still hadn't been done and and still took HOURS to get my prescription taken care of (still with many hoops to jump through). I work at a doctors office also and I know every office has some different policies, but the way this was taken care of was ridiculous. I called to speak with the office manager and I was told I would get a call back to discuss this terrible experience. As expected, I never got a call back from anyone. That's not all either... this one is a double whammy. I have filled out a change of address form at least twice. They keep sending bills to my parents house for visits that ARE covered by my own insurance. I'm no longer under them and they are violating my privacy rights by doing so. 1) my last visit which they sent me a bill for at least $300, there were no extra tests done to accumulate a cost like that. And I can explain exactly why that happened because it's not the first time... 2) they are billing my old insurance!!!!! I have updated the insurance several times as well! Reasons like all of these, I am never coming back again and transferring out, not that you guys care at all since all that matters to y'all is $$$$$$$$$. read more

Worst clinic we experienced ever. If you are late a few minutes for an appointment they will cancel it and not talk to you again until you reschedule. And they will charge you a copay anyways ! My insurance requires referrals from them for us to see a specialist. It is a struggle to get a referral from them. The only nurse Amanda does not come on phone with the excuse she is busy. Whenever I go there, the clinic is mainly empty not sure when and how she could be so busy. It almost looks like they do not want any business perhaps getting ready to file bankruptcy. read more

Just terrible. Avoid at every cost. You have been warned. They do not have any Dr's left . All they have is FNP's who are not very knowlegeable and don't know much. Many times they just ask you what you have been taking and to continue taking it as they don't know anything else. The waiting room is now empty as most people have transfered to other locations. read more

This practice has been my primary healthcare for more than 10 years and as a reviewer mentioned before has had a decline in quality of care over the past few several years. Prescriptions are not called in (resulting in multiple appts....therefore multiple copays!), test results are not relayed and at times not even recorded! I would go to this practice for well care visits, but would not trust them with my life if I had a medical issue. Time for a new practice! read more

Dr. Vandergriff is a nice doctor and person to talk to but this practice is more concerned with making money rather than helping its patients. I am unemployed and struggling to pay for my health insurance. I needed my prescription allergy medicine refilled and Dr. Vandergriff would not re-fill it even though I had been in her office 2 months prior. This practice is more concerned with how it looks rather than serving it's paying patients. read more

Simply terrible. Erroneous billing, medication mistake are the norm, staff is the rudest I've met in my life. Me and my husband switched to Apex Care after 7 years of going there. Ms Peacock is ok but not the best in terms of medical knowledge, Almaz Smith is the worst physician I've had the misfortune of encountering. Not only rude but extremely dismissive of you. She acts like she knows everything but has misdiagnosed me twice resulting in a lot of lost time and medical bills.Would never go there again, read more

The doctors are great, although it is difficult to get in for annual exams. I had to make appointments 4 months ahead of my next yearly appointment, they wouldn't set them up any earlier and if I waited any later I was forced to wait on my appointments. If I needed prescriptions refilled it took multiple phone calls to get the refills. I transferred doctors, and had my new doctor request my charts. I received a letter in the mail telling me that I owed Preston Medical $50 for my chart to be sent over!!!!! I have a medical need for the records at my new doctor's office and they won't budge on the price stating it was "office policy". What a joke!!! read more

Where to even start?....I have never written a review before, but I feel like I have to let people know about how your service will be if you decide to go here. Save yourself some time and aggravation by choosing another office for your medical care. Things started out just fine when I started going here about 3 years ago due an insurance change, and my previous doctor was not on my new insurance. Preston Medical Associates was not new to me, as I have a medical background and had been working in a specialist's office that dealt with this office on a regular basis. At that time, I knew nothing but good things. I started out seeing Dr. Smith, but she left the practice probably a little over a year into me being there. Since she left, getting call backs has been impossible. It takes a full 48 hours, at least, to get a call back from the nurse just to talk about why you called (if she calls you back).....then it may be another 48 hours before you get an answer from the doctor. At that point, it's taken four days to get an answer about something. Medication refills never get refilled, and you have to call the office multiple times and leave messages after your pharmacy has sent in a refill request...sometimes multiple refill requests. One thing that baffles me, still, is how you can be at your appointment and your provider tells you that they are sending in all of your refills right then as you are leaving, but when you go to pick it up several hours later, it has never been sent. Forget getting someone to call it in after hours EVEN THOUGH IT'S THEIR ERROR that it wasn't sent in! I've gone without my medication during a snow and ice storm and over a weekend on another instance after having been trying to get the refill for several days. Forget getting refills for more than a month at a time, even on a non controlled substance. Lab results ALWAYS require an office visit, and you will not be given them over the telephone. Another visit = Another copay. The current battle is trying to get them to send my new doctor my medical records. Apparently, it's their policy to charge you for your records even if another doctor's office is the one requesting them, and the request is on the official release form from the new doctor. It will also take a full month for them to even get to your medical record request. I've never encountered other physician's offices that practice by the methods that this one does, about just about everything....not as a patient or as an employee in other physician's offices. I'm not sure what has happened to this office, but it's definitely gone consistently gone down hill. It's almost like they don't care about the patients unless they are standing in front of them, and even then I'm not so sure. I almost forgot to mention that if you complain, it's you with the problem. I've recently seen other reviews with the very same complaints that I have, so I know I'm not alone with my opinion. Save yourself some headaches, and go someplace else. read more

Over the past 13 years we have watched more than 6 outstanding Drs leave and now only Dr Almaz smith is left along with 2 NP's. The wait time is atrocious, The waiting room is always empty when you go so not sure what the wait is about, Dr Smith is extremely rude and arrogant . Referrals are a nightmare . This clinic seems to be closing soon according to an insider so looks like most people would be on a hunt for a new PCP soon.. read more
