Living Well at Willow Grove Apartments As I sit in my home…read morewatching work crews clear snow from the driveway, front paths, and walkways, I'm reminded--yet again--of just how great apartment home living can be at Willow Grove in Danbury, Connecticut. After owning four homes, I made a conscious decision to simplify my life and actually enjoy where I live--without the constant responsibility of exterior upkeep. At Willow Grove, that decision has paid off in every way imaginable. And yes, while not worrying about snow removal is a gift, they also take exceptional care of the inside of the homes as well. Located right on the Danbury-Ridgefield line, Willow Grove is, quite simply, a wonderful place to live. While the community has been around for a while, the homes are genuinely unparalleled in both layout and livability. The Homes: Each unit has its own private entrance. I live in one of the larger units, where guests enter and head upstairs into a space that feels like a true residence--not an apartment. Most residences are single-level; mine spans three floors: A main living floor with two en-suite bedrooms (one serves as my studio/office) each with full baths. A cathedral-style living room with a 14+ foot ceiling and gas fireplace. A third-level space serves as an exercise area, reading room, and hangout for my kids when they're in town. Off the main living room is a lovely outdoor porch--perfect for morning coffee or a quiet evening. The galley kitchen is smartly designed with all the modern bells and whistles, and the laundry room has been fully upgraded by management (and yes, it was time--and very well done). Grounds & Maintenance: The grounds at Willow Grove are meticulously maintained, with crews tending to them almost daily. And the maintenance team--especially Nick and Juan--are, as the song goes, simply the best. They're caring, hardworking, and always ready to step in when you need them most. Last year I caused a flood (entirely my fault), and Nick drove out in the middle of the night on a Saturday to save the day. If you've ever owned a home or townhouse, you know that kind of responsiveness is almost unheard of. Management: I cannot say enough good things about the management team here. Melissa, the General Manager, is caring, present, and genuinely special in the way she holds space for the entire community. One of her finest decisions was bringing back Carlyne, the Assistant GM. I originally rented my home from Carlyne in July of 2019, and she is quite simply one of the best people I've ever met--warm, dedicated, and deeply committed to every resident she works with. She left for a few years to pursue other opportunities, but she's back now... and frankly, we're never letting her go. The Bottom Line: For anyone considering a rental in the Danbury/Ridgefield area, I can say without hesitation: you will not find a better place to hang your hats and boots than Willow Grove. The team here genuinely cares. The homes are immaculate. And when issues arise, they are handled with a level of dedication that truly matters. I felt compelled to write this review because too often we only hear about what's wrong. These days, there's plenty of funk going around. Willow Grove is the opposite of that. It's a safe haven--a place you can return to, or stay in, that adds peace, love, tranquility, and joy to your life. I've signed eight leases here, so I feel confident saying I know what I'm talking about. After living in four homes of my own and numerous rentals before that, choosing Willow Grove has been the best living decision I've ever made. If you're anything like me, it just might be the best decision you make too.

When I moved…read moreout, I was shocked to be charged $718 for full carpet replacement due to what they called "staining throughout." These were small, normal marks from daily family life -- nothing excessive or destructive. Despite this, no attempt was made to professionally clean the carpet first and they insisted on replacing all the carpet (which was already 4 years old), then billed me for the 3 "remaining" years of carpet life. I was told if I didn't pay, I'd be sent to collections -- an incredibly stressful threat while moving out of state. I understand landlords have policies, but this felt extremely rigid and unfair. If you're a family or have young children, I urge you to think carefully before renting here. A small amount of normal wear could cost you hundreds of dollars -- even when you leave your apartment clean and lived-in with care.

I don't know where to even start with my experience at Ashwood valley apartments in Danbury,…read moreCT...... For starters, the ONE GOOD thing we experienced in our time was the response of the Maintenance team. They were undeniably the MOST helpful and were there when we needed them. They are the only glue (literally and figuratively) holding this place together. Now, onto the MULTIPLE NEGATIVE experiences we have dealt with thru the past year. Once we moved in, there was an ample amount of black MOLD in the kitchen. It was on the whole wall, behind dish washer, under the sink and cabinet. It took them 2 months to contact maintenance and "fix" it. There's only so much maintenance can do with the materials given and orders  they receive. A lot of fixes are temporary though. 2 months into our lease, the guy in the unit above had two dogs. Now I live and appreciate dogs, I'm a dog lover BUT these dogs were not well trained and he didn't pay any attention to them it seemed. His dogs barked for 8 hours a day (we waited two month to say anything, trying to be considerate unlike him). He had just moved in, so we figured the dogs were overwhelmed and it would calm down, but that turned out to not occur. We had talked to him and Jordyn, but nothing was ever done about the situation. We came to understand that we talked to the office about the problems occurring AND we find out later one they never put it in their system. We have personally never caused mayhem. We do not blast music and we have personally never had a complaint. We talked to people that have lived there in the past, and they said management doesn't care they will side with the man above (primarily because he was older which to them equals "more maturity") even if he's in the wrong and we dealt with that first hand. We dealt with the guy upstairs running around at all hours of the night keeping us up when we had to be up early the next morning tried reaching out to him ourselves he was very rude and inconsiderate of all the neighbors around him. Talked to the property management about him they said it's not our problem basically even though it says clear in the their contract " being a nuisance is not tolerated" THEIR CONTRACT MEANS NOTHING!!!! This place isn't "luxury living" the only thing luxury about it is the price. Their pool is falling apart people have piles of trash and junk on their patios, people steal mail (which management already knows about and guess what.....THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT), cars are broken into (which management knows about). You can pay all this money and they can't even get cameras in high crime areas on the property. They sent an email saying they asked the town cops to stop by......I've only seen the cops one time within the entire year I work from home. In the first 4-5 months of living in our unit, there were constant bangs and booms coming from the construction taking place in the unit below us. Garbage laid out everywhere. Things with black mold, rusty nails and other dangerous bits were scattered around below. No one could walk near in fear of getting hurt, and the kids park is located near.....how disrespectful and UNSAFE! I emailed Jordyn Galeana to fix the problem and she replied with.... "I walked out there and it's on the porch so they shouldn't be by it" .......I didn't know our porches went 3 feet past the cement. Another EARLY morning we had siding people come at 7am!!!! (Ashwood quiet hours at 10pm to 8am) I emailed management and I received a reply back from Jordyn Galeana saying "actually they were there at 8:30am" .......she didn't believe me until I stated that I had video proof and replied with "Apologies!" ...... She was and still continued to be VERY UNHELPFUL and UNCARING/INSINCERE. Finally, let's talk about their management....Jordyn will get you into the apartments and then will say basically anything to get you to stay. She is unresponsive to engage in problems and actually help put....as it is her job to do so. She claims it's not, but she will never guide you to whose job it is or who to talk to. She doesn't have any type of positive attitudes towards anyone and lacks true customer service. She is rude and "the customers always right", she doesn't believe that. You need to have video and picture proof for her to MAYBE believe you. All in all, save yourself a headache and some money this place doesn't deserve your business.

For nearly $4,000 a month in rent, I expected basic functionality and responsive property management. Instead, the experience has been extremely disappointing from the moment I moved in. Within the first few months: I moved in without a working refrigerator for 3 days The dishwasher broke and was unusable for 2 weeks The oven stopped working the week before Christmas and took 5 days to repair. The shelving in the master closet ripped out of the wall with clothing on it. There was mold in both the washing machine and shower. Management's response has consistently been dismissive, acting as though tenants should not expect working appliances or properly maintained units. The condition of the apartment itself is unacceptable for a luxury property: The front door does not seal properly and you can literally see daylight through it Instead of replacing or properly repairing the door/frame, maintenance keeps cutting additional holes into the frame to move the latch. I personally had to add weather stripping just to keep freezing air from coming into the first floor. The windows are so difficult to close that I have to physically stand on them to get them shut enough to lock. Had I known about these issues beforehand, I never would have signed a lease here. The biggest disappointment is not even the maintenance problems it is the complete lack of concern from management. Tenants deserve safe, functional homes, especially at these rental prices. Prospective renters should think very carefully before signing a lease here.

The main office will do nothing with complaints even over peoples safety. the parking lot has cars of people that hang out all night and use drugs and drink and throw there garbage all over. tons of apartments have way more people who aren't on the lease and they enforce nothing. There's NO security and the only cameras that exist are by the garbage facility. Multiple people have had there cars damaged by the late night hangouts. At 1 am you can walk to your car and see 5 or 6 random cars full of people completely intoxicated doing burnouts and whipping around the lot. The worst place I've ever rented in this way and the rent is very high so unless you wanna worry about you and your property all the time I would look somewhere else despite how nice and polite the person giving you a walk around is.
