Outstanding care: Seen as a person first, not a diagnosis. I am the care manager for a 92-year-old woman with advanced Alzheimer's and dementia, and today we had an appointment with Dr. Christine at Avalon Primary Caree that went far beyond anything we expected. Healthcare settings can be overwhelming for patients in her condition, but this visit felt calm, respectful, and truly productive. In just one appointment, we achieved more than we have in multiple visits over the last four years with previous primary care, cardiology, and neurology providers. Dr. Shina addressed every concern, including things we did not even know to ask about, and introduced us to services and resources that will immediately improve her quality of life. I arrived with a long list of questions, and every single one was answered thoughtfully. Many doctors become dismissive if you do not use the right medical terms, but that never happened here. Dr. Shina encouraged questions and made sure nothing was left unclear. We left feeling fully informed and supported. What stood out most was her bedside manner. She spoke directly to the patient, looked her in the eyes, asked how she was feeling, and treated her with dignity and compassion. That combination of knowledge, patience, empathy, and genuine concern is rare and it made all the difference. The office was easy to find, clean and spacious. The staff was helpful and efficient. Lyndsey, the MA deserves special recognition for making the entire experience even better. We left with referrals, a care plan and real hope. I'll start by saying that I have been dealing with many different doctor's offices, receptionists, nurses, etc for about 11 years now - and I just have to say, Avalon is at the top of my list for some of the best medical care I've received. I see NP Bre'Ana Strong, and she has been nothing but caring, kind, understanding, and patient with me (qualities that I think can be incredibly rare/uncommon in the medical field, especially when it comes to primary care.) She went above and beyond at my last visit to make sure both a physical and mental health care need were taken care of - and she didn't rush me or make me feel like a burden. I couldn't believe this office only had a one star rating on yelp, I had to come here to fix it. The nurses here are also super friendly and welcoming (very important when you're dealing with health stuff, IMO!) and the receptionists were kind and welcoming too. Highly unorganized and unprofessional. I drove over 60 miles to get the COVID vaccine to wait more than 2 hours because they couldn't find my appointment. . Only to be upsold other medical services/test by Dr. Sarafa and his team. I expressed concerns via facebook and the owners wife, Deliah Kassab Sarafa told me off for no reason! Now I get an email from them every other day and at least a dozen calls robo calls in 1 week after I clearly stated that I wanted to be removed from their list. They never return calls and only seem to care to find another way to bill you or your insurance. Seems to be just a money grab. Plenty of other places to get tested or get the vaccine. The "drive-thru" AKA "Blighted Building" looks and feels questionable. read more
