I've had my Arabian gelding for over a decade plus, and when his former boarding facility closed I was so stressed to find that magical place that lets "horses be horses". Sky Ranch is the bees knees, it understands horses true nature. My boy is out on a large pasture with a herd of friends 24/7 turn out in the Spring /Summer and evening turn in the Winter to well cleaned and drained stalls. He's allowed to free graze, gets the highest quality hay and alfalfa daily, plus owner provided grain/supplements and meds fed by Jon (huge solid rock of support) and Franny (who is the kindest human you will ever know); both live on site. Big hearts. Serious animal lovers. The real deal. Community is important and the trails are off the hook amazing (vistas, meadows , creek crossings, old growth forest, alders, resident owls and all the flora and fauna of the PNW) looking for community for your horse and yourself, Sky Ranch is the real deal, truly a unicorn in the equestrian world, and so close to Portland. Jon cares deeply for the herd, and has a personal connection to your horse and their quirks and personality; it's truly peace of mind because if anything feels off, he's huge on communication. I love this, and I'm so grateful.

Being a city girl all my life, I never had the chance to ride horses and honestly if you've never done it before YOU just got to! Come to Sky Ranch and you won't be disappointed! As a horse boarding stable, there are many different kinds here and all of them are absolute sweethearts! Jon, our guide, is extremely knowledgable about the horses and gave us a tour of his land. He lives on a lot of acres allowing the horses to run free, graze, and just be horses. The whole place is extremely soothing, it was a nice change from a busy city life. I loved how quiet and beautiful the scenery was. Just imagine, the smell of fresh air with horses grazing left and right. After the tour, we were taught how to saddle, and clean a horse's hoof. Then we finally got to learn how to ride a horse. Jon was patient and kind while teaching us "newbies" on how to ride properly and not to hurt the horse. He allowed us to lead the horse from the pasture and into the stables, and my favorite horse has to be Arthur (the one we rode). Arthur is the cutest horse ever, we first saw him rolling around in the grass then instantly falling asleep. He's also super gentle and I thank him for putting up with me and my shaky steering. I'll definitely come back here again to hike his trails or ride horses! So, if you're looking for something to do or need a break from your busy life and you're in oregon, you have to swing by here!!

Writing this review hasn't been easy for me, and it saddens me to have had such a negative experience. I'm sharing it in the hopes that it will encourage others to prioritize their animals' care and safety. As a former boarder, I'm sharing my experience to help others. The management and staff's behavior made my time here difficult. Horse care and safety were constant concerns - my horse nearly died from a 106° fever due to neglect on the staff's part. He was sick with obvious signs of distress and wasn't checked on; I wasn't notified until I found him in his stall at 3 pm with dirty water. This cost me just shy of over a thousand dollars in vet bills and 3 weeks off work to save his life, not to mention the emotional distress it caused both me and my equine friend. I've also experienced harassment, false accusations, and verbal abuse/blackmail from the barn owner, including a recent incident with a staffer who was under the influence, yelling and throwing things, and picking random yelling fights with boarders, although no physical harm was done. Given these issues, I'd strongly recommend exploring other boarding options. As another reviewer mentioned, the place has potential, but it's not with the current management. The only positive thing to note is the new person doing feedings, which has improved the horses' condition. I also want to share that the stable owner's behavior was not only neglectful but also discriminatory and invasive. As a trans person, I was subjected to transphobic comments and actions, including the use of my dead name. She would also share false and intimate information about me with other boarders, creating a hostile environment. Her behavior made me feel uncomfortable, disrespected, and unsafe. I deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and I will not tolerate this kind of behavior. I'm sharing this to warn others and to promote a safer and more respectful environment for all. understanding and respect. I want to emphasize that I'm not looking for special treatment, just basic respect and kindness. I want to reiterate that I'm sharing this review with a heavy heart, and only because I hope it can help others avoid similar heartache. I'm not looking to be vindictive, but rather to promote safer environments.

I paid full care and still had to provide my own hay so my horses would be fed. I'd set out supplements and feed for my horses the night before, and Skylar, a boarder, and the MAIN worker at the facility, couldn't do the bare minimum of opening a stall door and pushing in some hay and grain. Skylar also, stole 8 bales of alfalfa from me. But the cameras are "broken". Toni, the barn owner, threatens and gaslights you.. The Morgan owners steal hay, beat and whip their animals AND others. This facility is NOT safe.

Both Kathleen and Emma (the two instructors I have worked with the most) have been very helpful, knowledgeable, and considerate as I've been retraining and reconnecting with horses. I've wanted to work with horses for years, and eventually start a ranch myself, and they have answered more than just question about riding. They have been open, encouraging, and great to talk to as I've come back to equine activities. The horses are all friendly, alert, and rarely skittish. Kathleen and Emma are both kind and compassionate with their horses, and firm when needed. It's been great to get their diverse perspectives on horse care and riding. I look forward to seeing how the stable will grow with Patti and Dave, and am excited for many more years of riding with the horses and people I'm getting to know.

Most positive reviews are from before current owners took over. VERY poor communication. There is a pricey NON REFUNDABLE "on boarding fee" for boarders. Over priced, frequently increasing rates Poor quality hay (My horse wouldn't eat it, so I, other boarders and even the barn manager/trainer) ended up buying our own hay) My own horse was left unfed 5 times during my 3 month stay! I have proof of this. She also lost weight while boarding there. When I brought up my concerns, I was treated as if it was "no big deal," Was told "My bad" from flakey manager each time....yet it continued to happen. Even on the last day. Every concern was met with defensiveness and no real solution. I have full documentation/texts and photos of these events, and am happy to share. The "Manager/trainer" is overworked, unprofessional and forgetful. There are Rats in the feed room, Loose horses roaming around, and rotten wood fencing. There IS a decent sized but crowded arena, NO round pen, the indoor arena is dark and dusty. Boarder's needs take a back seat to lessons, leasers, and horse camps, as they generate the most $$. The lease and lesson horses are over used, and several of them quite old. Up side: Nice boarders (most of which I am still friends with) and kind, tolerant (often overused) horses. Board at your own risk. Everything I describe here is 100% true, and I am more than happy to provide texts, photos and emails to anyone interested to back up my claims.
