My colt was located next to one of the owner, Christy's stud. My mare was located a couple of stalls down from him. The stalls are kept clean by a beautiful young lady named Marissa. There is a beautiful covered arena and a nice size outdoor round pen. My first month being there was uneventful. I went out to the barn every day and worked with my horses for hours. In September 2018, I was voicing a concern about the drain pipe in my mares pen to Christy. This was not the first time I had discussed the fact that the outdoor run was flooded due to the pipe missing. On this occasion, Christy informed me that it was on the list of things to do. As I walked away, she said to me, "Can I get paid?" I was taken aback by her tone. I walked back over to her and showed her where the bank had debited my account and sent her a check on the first of September. I informed her that in fact, she had been paid. Her response was that she did not get the check from the bank. I suspect that she did receive the check but thought that since it was from the bank, it had been mistaken for junk mail. I immediately called the bank and stopped payment on the bank check. I informed Christy that it would take the bank 3 to 4 business days for the stop payment to take place and the money to be put back into my account. I wrote her a personal check and asked that she wait to deposit it until the other money was put back into my account. That did not happen! It was deposited within an hour of me handing her the check. The next thing that happened at her facility was regarding wasps. I had asked several times for them to deal with the wasp hives. One day, I pointed them out to a young man as well as to Christy's partner/husband Don. I again explained to them that my daughter and I were allergic to them and that while we both carry an EPIPIN it would be helpful if they could deal with the wasps. Later that day, I returned to the barn to put my colt back in his stall. The young man said to me that the elderly lady that lived in the house by where I was told to park did not want chemicals sprayed to kill the wasps. He said that she wanted to deal with them naturally. I said, "Well she has had ample time (6 weeks) to deal with them naturally and that I have no desire to stop breathing and would appreciate it if they were sprayed and killed. I went on into the barn to put my colt up and was verbally attacked by Don. I looked at him shocked by his inability to control his rage. I said, "Do not speak to me in that manner. I did not force anyone to do anything". I was extremely upset and immediately left the property. Fast forward to October 8 2018. I arrived at the barn with two friends from my church. I got my mare and was loading her in the trailer to take her to a trainer that I had previously paid for their service. While we were loading MY HORSE, Don came over to the truck and began yelling at us. Now mind you we were all at the back of a three horse trailer when he verbally assaulted us. He demanded to know where we were taking that horse. Again keep in mind that this is my horse not theirs. I own her, I do not lease her. He continued to yell at us saying that we could not take the horse etc. Ultimately he went in to the house and locked the gate so that we could not physically leave the property. I spoke to Christy and the only way that Don would open the gate was if I paid them. Now mind you the payment was not even due at this point. I did however, write a check for the full amount of the boarding fee for the next 30 days for both horses. I then came home and wrote a letter to Christy explaining to her that while I understand that others have taken their horse and left without paying I had not done that to her or anyone else. I expressed my concern about how Don was out of control. I told her that I had no intentions of leaving the facility anytime in the near future. I also expressed my concern that Don would take his rage for me on the colt that was still at their facility. The response I received from Christy was a thirty day notice to remove my horses from her facility. I would not recommend to anyone who wants to trail ride, use a trainer other than Christy, OR anyone who does not want to be verbally assaulted to enter into a contract with this facility. I wish the best to all who are looking for a place for their beloved horse to be boarded in a safe, healthy atmosphere. This is not what you will find at this facility.
