Our experience with Avalon Flooring⁠ was a nightmare. There were repeated mistakes, poor workmanship, and major delays. They installed vinyl in the wrong bathroom and even inside a shower, removed brand-new subflooring during corrections, installed the wrong threshold, and completed tile showers so poorly they had to be torn out and redone multiple times. We found uneven tile, improper installation methods, and even torn cardboard used as spacers. A third-party shower glass installer also questioned the quality of the work and was unable to install the Glass Shower Doors. The worst part was that Avalon never caught these issues--we had to identify and push for every correction ourselves. Their $1,300 compensation offer didn't come close to covering our losses in time, labor, and business. We documented everything with photos and texts. Based on our experience, we strongly caution anyone considering Avalon Flooring. Read the Consumer Report reviews and the others on Yelp. Today I met by a sales associate that was called to assist me for new stairwell runners. There was no introduction, hello or how can I help you. She just stood in front of me clearly annoyed. When I tried to engage her in conversation, she repeatedly kept saying, "I don't know what you mean". She was almost combative. So I told her we were done and left. If these are the people Avalon employs then good luck. There are other places to shop in Cape May County. read more

Unfortunately my experience with a particular woman sales person in Avalon Carpet was extremely bad. I returned a sample and wanted to look for other carpets. She was so rude and unprofessional that I left after several mean and cranky projections were aimed at me. I am a designer and have given them a lot of business in the past. I will take my business elsewhere. The sales person made me feel horrible and I was wasn't her valuable time. Meanwhile there was no other customers. Just had a 9000 dollar Laminate floor installed from Rio Grande store. The guys showed up as planned were very thorough with there work. When they finished i gave them the final payment. I looked the job over could not find anything wrong. Couple days later i went to turn on my outside light nothing. So i figure its a light bulb. Make a long story short i by a new outside light. Install it and still does not work. Hymm I chase the wire to where they installed the floor Ohh They cut the wire so they could slide the Floor under. O well Honest mistake. I call the Avalon , the subcontractor shows up. Then Tells me his guys did not do that. Basically treating me like i did it. I said you really think i sabotaged my own house? He was treating me so rude. I called back to talk to there complaint department every time i spoke the guy from Avalon spoke 5 octaves louder than me. And said he has something to say and if i don't listen he is going to hang up. Finally The sub contractor shows up with and electrician. I am trying to get a fresh start and took my time out to remove the skirt from under the porch so he can see the other end of the wire that his men cut. He grabs the skirt throws it in the mud and lays on top of it . I was like Hey you are going to damage that, I don't want you to lay on that i have a blanket for you to lay on. He yells back I don't care what you want. Then lets the electrician look at it with my blanket he crawls down there and says Yes this was clearly cut by your men. Meanwhile the smart ass Subcontractor is standing inside my house with his muddy feet on my area rug that i purchased at Avalon flooring. So when Avalon says they guarantee there work. Beware They will talk and treat you like you are a criminal in your own home. The electrician was a complete Gentleman and repaired this botched job. and i spent another 2 hours reinstalling the skirt. Makes you wander if I did not have the skill set to remove and replace this skirt. Who would have done it? The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is that the people who work at the Wildwood store are very nice. Communication and follow-up are next to nonexistent. Trying to buy window coverings, especially during a sale, is a monumental challenge. Starting with placing the order, I needed to follow up multiple times to get a detailed copy of what I ordered (all I was sent was a Docusign with a final total and no underlying details). The initial documents I received did not include the sale prices, so I had to pursue and pursue. After that, I had to follow up to pay. Once I paid, I had to follow up because I was still being asked for payment. I guess the copies of my order and my payment receipt, put in the "box" for processing, also got overlooked. They were unable to provide me with a rough estimate when the product would be delivered and complained it was "crazy" there with "hundreds" of emails to sort through. Again, customer service inside the store is friendly and accommodating, once you can get someone to help you. After that, customer service goes out the window. read more

We are very pleased with the professional, attentive service and high quality products at Avalon Carpet Tile & Flooring in Rio Grande. When we were looking to build a new home in North Wildwood, the good folks at Avalon walked us through an array of flooring options and worked patiently with us as we narrowed down our choices. We started out looking for hardwood floors and tiled bathroom floors, but what we ended up with was much better for us. Our bathroom floors look like 3D tile, but in fact are a single sheet of smooth, premium vinyl. For the hallways and living areas we chose premium vinyl strips that look like wood but are durable and, if damaged, are easy to replace. And the Karastan carpets with thick padding in the bedrooms are a delight to walk on and don't leave footprint impressions. Avalon had a great selection of tile to choose from for our master bathroom shower and our kitchen back splash, and everyone really likes the Hunter Douglas window shades, especially the automatic ones. Everyone we worked with was knowledgeable and patient. With great customer service, a huge selection of quality products, and reasonable prices, Avalon Carpet Tile & Flooring was an excellent choice for us, and we highly recommend the store. read more

Sloppy work!! Had installers back three times to correct their less than perfect work and they still didn't complete the job. They had two different colors of vinyl for the toe plate! One side was white and the other side was grey... didn't they notice the two different colors when they glued them together?? They never installed the threshold strip though the piece was sitting on the floor and, again, they were called back three times to complete the job. Just awful! We will NEVER use Avalon Flooring again.,. EVER! read more

I am so happy with the carpet and hardwood flooring that I recently had installed. My sales rep, John L., and the scheduling department made the task a very positive one! The key factor was the excellent communication throughout the process. The installation was for my father's house, so I had a bunch of concerns and Johns ability to really listen to me was so important. I walked out of the showroom feeling that the purchase was well thought out, a good investment in the home, and most importantly met the needs of my dad. The scheduling department worked well with timing and I received several "just checking in" phone calls from John during the install. My dad is now enjoying his new flooring and I am looking forward to having other rooms in his house updated in the near future. I have utilized Avalon for several items , including rugs, blinds and hard wood florring. Watch for the bait and switch on hard wood flooring. I recently orders 4 blinds for my sliding glass door and window. 3 of the blinds were installed with no problems. The one sliding glass door blind has been nothing but a nightmare. They needed to remeasure the door after the original order, and the blind still was not right. Very expensive for zero customer service and poor quality. Try a big box store instead. read more

A great experience getting carpet for our family room. Our sales agent, Mary, was pleasant to work with. Avalon Flooring has multiple locations and we chose the carpet while we were down the shore and had it installed at home in Philly. The measurer came to the house and was able to figure out installation a little cheaper. That was much appreciated since room was about 15' wide. Dedicated installation duo completed the job in about 3 1/2 hours just in time for Thanksgiving. They were running a no interest deal at the time. While renovation our first floor at the shore, we returned to Avalon Flooring time and again for help in selecting our flooring, master bathroom tiles & vanity, stair carpeting and window treatments. Michelle Olson assisted us as we visited frequently to decide on each choice as my husband & I took time to find something we both liked and Michelle continue to be patient and informative about our choices. She pulled out and compared what we had selected to date as we moved on to the next item to make sure that all our various selections were compatible. Michelle also researched options that were not readily available for us.
