After the service person was here for 15 minutes max he left and said that a charge would come via email. He never mentioned additional charges. we got the email invoice and was charged more than $200 for his untangling a chain. we called to dispute this charge and were told too bad. They agreed that they never mentioned additional charges beyond the quoted $350 when we spoke. They started yelling about how long it took to get here fighting traffic even though they arrived within a half hour of our original call. Very disappointing that we were charged $555 for 15 minutes work. I do not recommend this company. Was paying invoice and was told the cc service charge was 4% even though service person said it was 3%. Scam.

Since…read morethey're less than 3 years old, I just wanted a cursory check & filter cleaning for the a/c in the spring & the furnace in the fall. I decided to go with TLC, a small, local company rather than a large business. I spoke to Patty at TLC last April and was quoted a price for what I thought (since I asked for annual contract pricing) was for 2 visits and a lower price should I need any additional service. The a/c check went fine and I paid $325 thinking it was for an annual contract. Yesterday was my furnace check. I called at 10am and was told a service person would be here by 12:30-1:00. Well...it was after 2:00. No big deal. Sean cleaned the filter & checked my gas fireplace (2 years old). It took about 1/2 hour. He then asked me for $325. I couldn't speak. From my spring phone call with TLC, I thought I had an "annual" contract that included the spring & fall visits for a total of $325 - not $650!!! Totally outrageous. $325 for 1/2 hour?!? I could have done this work myself. Live & learn. Oh - when I looked at the contract emailed to me in the spring, it had expired, so I couldn't even review the original paperwork. Make sure you get the contract mailed to you. Don't let TLC rip you off. And Sean (service guy) even solicited side jobs for himself, saying he moves outdoor furniture for TLC customers and helps with small jobs. No thanks! I work hard and am so upset with having to pay so much for such a small job. It's crazy.

Quite disappointed with customer service. Used Budd's for a major job. Their auto generated emails…read moreand requests for payment make it nearly impossible to figure out what you are paying for. Following the job, we received the invoice and were hoping to get to the house and check out the work before submitting final payment. We were surprised to see that Budd's charged the card on file ... because in the fine print it says they have the right to do that. Decided to take a chance and called for a smaller job. Paid the $10 deposit and then read the fine print that the $150 charge was just a diagnostic (come out to the house) charge. Decided to cancel. After cancelling, a few days later came to realize they charged the $10 and then charged for the full $150 even though they never came to the house.

Felt scammed, ripped off, & completely disappointed. We used Budd's Pluming in 2023 for a bathroom…read moreremodel. We thought they were great. Whenever we were asked we highly recommended them for other people's plumbing needs. In May of 2025 we had a first floor shower that seemed to be having sewage come up through the drain. When I called Budd's for service the person who took the call said we needed drain cleaning and that the cost was $350.00 and had me sign an agreement having me acknowledge this was the cost to clean the drain and anything extra would be addition charge. When the plumbers arrived they were stumped. He ran a sink, flushed a toilet, loosened main drain outside and saw no blockage. Came back in and ran the sink again and everything drained from the shower. So it turned out we DID NOT need a drain cleaning at all. But, we were still charged the $350.00 fee. I called multiple times to get someone to review this with me. I was not trying to get out of paying- but why would I be charged for something they did not do? I would've been comfortable paying 1/2 that for their time but Budd's would not budge. Lesson learned - never sign anything before they send someone out to assess the problem first.

The auger job basically took 2 minutes, $400 for that, this was several years ago, hate to see what they would rip somebody off today. Go to Home Depot or Harbor Freight, buy an auger or snake, save hundreds and do it yourself. I panicked with young kids and stores went not around back then. This was in north wildwood. I get that you kind of have to expect to be overcharged a little when you're in a tight spot and can't really say no to going ahead with the work. But it now looks pretty clear to me that Mr Rooter plumbers are trained to take maximum advantage of customers financially, even when they are not in a moment of crisis. The last straw for my wife and me came a few days ago. We had a relatively minor problem that we were willing to pay a little more for to have fixed quickly. But even then, we were presented with a crazy expensive and completely unnecessary fix. Specifically, we had a problem with the hot water feed on our bathroom sink that required the replacement of a part that would cost $20 tops at Home Depot. (I know as much because I checked online.) But the Mr Rooter plumber quoted us $700 to do the job, explaining how the entire faucet and all of the connecting apparatus below it needed to be completely replaced. Honestly, I'm embarrassed at how long it took me to get wise to the skeezy way this company does business. Don't be fooled. If Mr Rooter were a doctor's office instead of a plumbing company, and you went to them to have a wart removed from the back of your hand, you'd be told straight-facedly why you needed your entire arm replaced with the latest and greatest artificial limb, and that it'd "only" cost you a couple of million dollars in parts and labor to attach. It's really messed up. But this is how Mr. Rooter rolls. Consider yourself warned.
