I have bought carpet for 40 years from other stores. The products they sell are of the lowest quality and their prices are high. I have never had a problem with Roy Lomas and Stark Brothers. The response I received about defective carpet it is blamed on someone else. I can't use what was sold to me. I am happy to pay for products, but not defective ones. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. Delivery company they use is incompetent beyond words! Unapologetic in their multitude of cancels last minute! Wide variety of options and sales team very helpful choosing. But prices are just fairly high. Though i bought the relatively expensive product during a promotional period, the thresholds at which you must order (25, 50, 75 sq ft, etc,), required me to order 38% more non returnable special order tile than even my wastage volume estimate required. It would have been nice to know that information that these very pricey thresholds existed, or to ask the question up front to the sales associate, before all the back nd forth putting 3 different tiles, cabinetry, quartz, paint selection all together to finalize a decision only to learn this at the final ordering time 3-4 visits later. Any discounted 'deal' was more than offset by the mandatory thresholds quota requirements. I got an expensive education. Know your volume estimate you need up front. And ask the question about volume thresholds options for that particular tile initially as you consider your various tile options. Check that tile's return policy. And I would price compare. Their prices and quota requirements would give me pause to return. I would certainly price compare. read more

My wife and I worked with Alison Hammond at their Warrington location on a bathroom remodeling job. Alison was very thorough and patient with us throughout our work with us and was extremely helpful with thoughts and ideas for us to consider. I was very pleased with her attention to details. Regarding new flooring in a small bathroom and a laundry room put down by Avalon of Cherry Hill: The Final Product: excellent, beautiful floors. I am very pleased with workmanship and care taken with the installation, and the floors are beautiful. The cost: exorbitant. The cost kept escalating as the project went on. First, the price owed to Avalon nearly doubled from the original estimate at the store. Then I was told I had to hire a plumber to prep the rooms. Finally, the day the workers finished up I suddenly found out that I would still have have to hire a contractor to adjust the doors. The result was a far more expensive project than initially anticipated. The overall experience: frustrating and stressful. Communication is poor -- information is not given all at once, making for unwelcome surprises, and the workers don't speak English, or barely. This made for an overall tense and maddening experience with this store. read more

We needed new tile for our outdated shower. We met with Susan Kassab who helped us pick out tile that we love. There was trouble getting our accent tile because the manufacturer stated they had a 3 box minimum. We only needed a half of a box. Susan negotiated with the manufacturer and delivered one box for us. We were so grateful since we had our hearts set on the blue glass tile. Thank you Susan and everyone at Avalon Flooring! Pretty large selection of rugs, tile, flooring, etc. I like the fact that they break out the different offering pretty cleanly (i.e. rugs aren't mixed in with the tile section). Sales staff tries to be helpful. Prices can vary, some things we've seen cheaper at other stores, but others were competitive. Pretty big tile closeout/sale section; biggest weakness right now is the self-install/tool section at the back of the store is pretty lackluster. At one point they had some nice displays of the orange waterproof membranes in a shower, now they just have the membrane for sale, so harder to visualize all that you will need. Also nice that there is a Ferguson Bath supply store down the street, so you can hit multiple stores at once if you're doing a bath or kitchen. read more

Stay far far away from this company. The product made and sold by avalon is extremely poor and they know it, which explains why the price of the floor we purchased has actually DECREASED in just 12 months. Their flooring chips, cracks, seperates and the coating even rubs off from normal everyday floor traffic. They refuse to stand by their warranty. They will only make offers when it benefits them, NOT the customer. And to make matters worse their customer service department is rude and passive agressive. I waited awhile to make this post hoping they would do right by their customer, but they could care less about the customer!! So here we are... I just had to order some laminate flooring to match a job that Avalon flooring had installed about four years ago. I was thrilled to learn the flooring was still available, however, I was NEVER TOLD THAT THE DIMENSIONS HAD CHANGED, and theres no possible way it would line up with my existing flooring. I patiently waitEd for a few months for the special order to arrive, only to find out it wouldn't fit. I feel the sales person was negligent for not telling me that the dimensions have changed and there's no way it would match up to the existing floor. Avalon has a strict " no returns on special orders or open boxes" policy. I immediately called them when my contractor found out that it wouldn't fit. They initially refused to help. We solved our problem ourselves by taking existing flooring from a closet to match up with the living room, and cutting down the special order box pieces to fit hidden in the closet. After a few heated discussions with Avalon they agreed to refund my money. I just want people to be aware of their policy no returns on special orders or open boxes. read more

I need window treatments. I like to walk around the house with nothing on and nobody needs to see this from outside. We weren't greeted at all when we first started browsing. I kind of felt like the folks looked at my shabby weekend attire of old shorts, tennis shoes and a hat and figured I wasn't serious about purchasing top quality window treatments. Nothing could have been further from the truth. When we were finally greeted, we got paired up with Eric who seemed less than thrilled to be at work, let alone help me out. This place is awful! Be warned that they don't back their products. I recently purchased tile and within 2 years the tile started cracking. When I went over to discuss the situation they blamed it on the installer. The company that then took it out said it was installed properly and that during the demo the tile fell apart and basically crumbled. Clearly it was an inferior product. I had pictures of the demo, the wood studding of the walls and some of the crumbled product. Avalon's still refused to make good on their product. Save yourself a lot extra work and aggravation and find yourself another tile supplier. read more

Michael is an absolute pleasure with whom to work. If it was possible to give them a 0 stars I would. My boyfriend and I went to Avalon and worked with John, who was initially a great rep. He helped us two separate times on picking out tile for our entry way. The second time we came in we decided to buy the tile. The tile we wanted was special order, so we were told we had to pay up front in full which we did not mind. We were told 10-15 days for delivery to the store, they would call us when it came in. 3 weeks later we had heard nothing from them, so we decided to call... At that point we were told the one type of tile we ordered was discontinued and we would need to pick another tile. We were confused that we WERE NOT CALLED to be notified of this AND we had to call them. At that point we told them we would call them back. We called back the next day and the person we spoke to didn't even have record of our order and told us to call back another day. When we call back the next day we spoke to John again and was given some ridiculous reason that he was on vacation, no disrespect but he wasn't on vacation for 3 weeks. At that point I told them we wanted a 100% refund for our order. He told us he was with a customer and he would call us back. I respected that, so I said okay. He NEVER CALLED BACK. The next day we had to call back and he said he would refund us with his boss that night. That he could not do it without their help. Days go by, no refund. We call again and were told he'd do it right now, which is another lie because a few days before he said he could not do that. The entire process with this store was lie after lie. I understand that things get discontinued and happen, but to not even have the customer service to call us back when they realized it was OR call us back when they said they would is 100% UNACCEPTABLE. I have used Avalon on three decent size projects over the last 2 years. Avalon has a huge selection of tile and wood flooring with also a pretty good in stock selection. Amy Breneman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with our selections and orders. She even helped us choose paint colors. The prices are very competitive and they run sales from time to time also. There is also as good selection of close out products. The warehouse is right behind the showroom and the people there are also pleasant and helpful. I did the install on the products and Avalon made sure I had everything I needed, There are so many more choices at Avalon then at HD or Lowes and at a step up in quality from the builders grade that HD and Lowes stock. read more

Worst customer service- DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- We recently used Avalon flooring for all of our tile and wood floors when building a new home. Our builder asked us to reach out to the rep because the floors were scratching too much prior to us even moving in, and we needed to figure out a solution to repair and prevent. Our rep, Amy Oeste simply replied "hardwood scratches" and said to call customer service. She then accidentally included me on an email where she proceeded to badmouth me to customer service. This was our first and last time ever using them. This is apparently how they back their service. read more

I cannot say enough about the positive experience we had, particularly when compared to other stores we went to where the customer service was basically non-existent. We were served by Michael Gregorovic who was outstanding! He was personable, friendly, calm in a non-pressure kind of way (not fond of overbearing salespeople) knowledgable/had ideas when we were indecisive, was honest when we were making questionable choices. Looks like Avalon has the clout to remove less than positive reviews. So, I'll just continue to make my point. I'll first admit that my initial review caused the folks at Avalon to contact me to see what they could do. I lost the contact info, regretfully, but give them credit for that. Pulling off my review only ticks me off much more so I suggest that Avalon not do that again. I'm simply posting my version of the story. Believe me, I have the time to repost more times than you have to pull it down. Our first bad experience was with the Ocean City store where they promised tile delivery for our new kitchen and wound up putting us four weeks behind schedule. We also couldn't tile under the appliances so we wound up with six boxes of leftover tumbled Carrera marble left gathering dust in the garage. Against my better judgement, we went to the CH store for our primary residence rehab and bought tile, grout, and carpet. As it turns out, we had more grout leftover than we actually used. It's my fault that I didn't return it in the 30 day window but I just shouldn't have trusted Avalon. Even worse, we bought more tile but couldn't pick it up that day. When we called to arrange the pickup, they couldn't find the tile and finally said they must have sold it. They had absolutely no clue. Again, my fault because I now know that the tile has to be picked up within 24/48 hours, whatever. But what really upset us was the ATTITUDE of the CH staff over the phone. They REALLY don't care about you. Absolutely arrogant. Must be nice to have the kind of business where you just don't matter. So, we went to Lowes and got some decent tile at a very good price. Plus, the guy at the Maple Shade Lowes was really nice to us. Unfortunately, if you want high-end tile, Avalon is one of the few places to go. Funny how they were nice about taking our money but not so nice about dealing with problems. Oh, and by the way Avalon, please do not pull this review down. It's my best recollection of what happened and my personal opinion, nothing more. If you persist in censoring me, there are lots of other opportunities to tell my story on the web. Please do not contact me again. The grout has solidified. read more
