Baby and children's items galore, from baby carriers to cloth diapers to toys to all the odds and ends kids seem to need. I went out of my way to visit because I wanted to try out a couple of different baby carriers. Unfortunately the time I visited there was no one particularly knowledgeable in babywearing, which is really too bad. I was told to come back another time when a babywearing monitor would be present, but as a busy mom finding a few moments to slip out of the house by myself isn't easy, and trying on multiple different carriers with my child is a no-go. Once he's up in a carrier, he likes to stay there, and gets rather grumpy when I have to put him down. Instead, being fairly experienced in babywearing myself I took advantage of being childfree to take my time checking them all out, trying them on and fiddling with all the adjustments. So in the end I didn't end up buying a new baby carrier here, but I did pick up a bunch of other doodads, like a new snack cup and some bath toys. It was definitely a worthwhile use of my time, and if I'm in the area again, or need a gift for expectant parents, I know where to go! And if ever I want help in choosing a baby carrier, I'll be sure to call ahead.

All questions are answered fully and the staff is very helpful...which means that sometimes it can be slow to get your question answered if they're busy with another customer. It's worth waiting as you're sure to learn something interesting. I initially found my way to the store because a friend had recommended Bravado brand nursing bras/tank tops and this store carries them. I returned a second time in search of a Snappi (gadget which replaces diaper pins for cloth diapers). Even though I had received a baby carrier as a gift (not purchased here) and was only buying a $5 item, the staff person took the time to show me how to use my carrier properly. Very impressive service. I was also impressed by the selection of handmade and locally-sourced items. I also appreciate having a good cloth-diapering resource nearby. Most of their diapers are pocket diapers and those aren't my favourites, but it's good to know where I can get specialty items like cloth-diaper-friendly ointments or eco detergents or swim diapers or cover-up bathing suits.

Whether you're looking for a beautiful woven wrap or a more structured carrier, they've got it! They also do workshops on Sundays when the store is closed, so you can learn all about baby wearing, or learn some new techniques, in a small group. Good to know info: they've got a nursing and changing room, so you don't have to feel rushed to get home to take care of baby's needs while shopping.

Breastfeeding, in case you haven't experienced this, can be surprisingly ridiculously hard and complicated and often painful and uniquely infuriating. I've taken advantage of their incredible kind service and free advice on many occasions and also attended classes in the private back room for various baby things. And bought some great bras and sustainable bamboo sweatshirts their too! The baked goods and food served here is pretty basic but tasty, and the soy latte was really great! Really though, everything they sell here is to support the free wealth of information they provide all the time, and the incredibly welcoming homebase they provide to young parents. I'm definitely a fan.

There is also maternity clothing, nursing clothing (I found a great dress on the clearance rack that I wore on the day we brought our baby home from the hospital), kangaroo clothing, baby carriers, nursing cushions, breast pump sales and rentals, ... There are workshops for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, baby massage, baby wearing, baby sign language, ... You can also make a one-on-one appointment with a certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) if you need help with breastfeeding. There is a café so you can take your baby, have a latté, and hang out while you breastfeed in a welcoming environment. I received friendly, knowledgeable service in both official languages. My only beef was that the espresso machine was out of service when I visited. No matter. I found an ice cream shop across the street.

They have a lot of nice antiques. The bad: The "take it, it's free" section is a mess. The space between the aisles is pretty tight. It is a good thing we got out of there quickly because we wanted to buy everything. If you are looking for old stuff, give this place a try. I bought my son a cute hoodie here 7 months ago for $20 and it lasted fall and winter and several washes! It's still in excellent condition which makes no sense as all his other stuff from Walmart is trashed. I was just here again for the street faire and found some designer t-shirts for my son for $24.
