This company sounds like a great option, and it is if you do not expect to use your vehicle for…read moreanything but a paperweight. My 19 year old daughter bought a 2001 Dodge Dakota truck in August of 2014 and threw a rod in the engine in October. With the age of the truck, I never questioned replacing the engine, the maintenance shop we took it to suggested that we get a used engine from LKQ, Inc. We did and it worked fine until May 2015 when this engine also began to knock and we were once again told that she was throwing a rod. We asked about a warranty and were told that the engine came with a 6-month warranty, but we were in month 8. We again purchased a used engine from LKQ and began a trip from Georgia to California. We made it all of 250 miles before this engine overheated due to a blown heater hose. We got that fixed and tried to continue on our trip, however she could not go faster than 45 without going downhill with a tailwind. We decided to stay the night in Birmingham, AL and have it looked at the next day. This was Wednesday, 10 June 2015, we had it towed to a AAA authorized maintenance shop who told us that the engine failed a block test so it would need to have the heads resurfaced, which we told them to proceed with. Once they got the heads off, they found that the engine had not had an oil change in something like 10,000 to 15,000 miles based on the oil build-up in the engine. I contacted LKQ's warranty department and after 4 days of back and forth, of course there was a weekend in the middle and they are not in the office on the weekends, I was informed that because the engine overheated and melted the heat tabs, they would not honor the warranty. Let me restate that we drove this vehicle 250 miles before we began having problems. They sold me a junk engine and wont even offer to cover the cost of my 5 days in hotel, while they decided that they were going to make me buy another engine. I was told by more that one person that this company had a great reputation for taking care of their buyers. Not this buyer, all they are interested in is how many engines can we get them to buy.

From the owner: LKQ offers an extensive nationwide inventory of recycled OE, reconditioned, remanufactured,…read morerefurbished, new aftermarket and OE replacement parts, through its Keystone Automotive locations, for your automotive and truck repair needs. Whether youre looking for Door Assemblies, Mirrors, Head and Tail Lamps, Bumper Assemblies, Fenders, Hoods, Wheels and more, LKQ has the parts, paint and supplies you need to get the job done.
