My husband was following me in my graduation from undergrad gift to myself in 2004 (Then Brand New 2004 Honda Accord) to go to one of the three auto places to get a battery as the last item to compete in the car before giving it to our middle girl who is a sophomore in college. I turned left and ended up in Auto Zone asking about a battery and looking out that door for my hubby who was no where in site and I know he was behind me. My phone rang and he said BankAmeriCash deals give us 15% cash back at Advance Auto so come across the street. I immediately came across the street and as I entered I was greeted by the staff. My husband was with Russell and already had the battery pulled up and preparing to pay. I ask Russell if they installed and he politely replied Yes I can do it and give you $20 back if you recycle the old battery with me. Of course I replied as I looked to my husband and said "See I just saved you labor" LoL. We stood outside while he changed the battery and learned that the battery was placed December of 2010 so it was good and ready to be changed. Russell was professional, fast and posses great customer service. If in need I'll come back here for any of my Auto needs for or teenagers cars since they are older cars.

I did not have an appointment and that was not a problem on this particular morning. They were able to get my car started and the service manager said that he'd give me a call when it was ready. I headed over for breakfast. An hour later, my car was nearly ready. Inspection done, oil change done, but they wanted to know if it was okay to charge an additional $30 to repair a nail in one of my tires. Yes, please. A half hour later, I was ready to roll. Car inspected, oil changed, tires all with air. Easy, pleasy. Thank you, AAA!

He then showed it to me, it was wrong. Canada has its passport information posted on their site and clearly shows the size/dimension and what needs to be in and on the back of the picture. I told the guy and he adamantly disagreed. He said our machine is set to Can. PP standards. With that I sent in my renewal fee with that picture. A few weeks later I got a call saying the picture is wrong. I must send another with the required information on the back. I went back to the Ballantyne location and thankfully a gal was there. She took it and it came out perfect, it was the size it should be. No adjustments. She stamped the back with the location info, her name, etc. My advice... go elsewhere if you see that small fellow in front of the computer at the PP desk. Membership renewal: Another day I went in to renew my AAA membership. I've been a member for 48 yrs. I had to change my address due to a move. Received my new card in the mail with the correct acct number. A few weeks later I received mail with another card to my current address. It had my previous married last name with a different acct number? I've been divorced for 17 yrs. I took the card into the Ballantyne office and asked... why this? The fellow looked around on the computer and couldn't figure it out. I asked him to cancel that membership, said he did. Someone had to go back in the AAA history to find that info., then take the time to create a new card and have it sent out.

The problem was not fixed, as the shuddering continued in the days and weeks after our visit. We then brought it to two other repair shops, a statewide chain and the dealership, and after inspecting it, they both indicated there was a major transmission issue and it would likely need to be replaced. These other shops didn't try to sell us work, and didn't charge us anything, but simply used their expertise to give us an honest assessment. How refreshing. We concluded that we should just get rid of the vehicle, as a new transmission would be about $10k (based on two estimates). Therefore, the $600 we spent with AAA on the transmission a few weeks prior really was throwing good money at bad. I came back to the AAA shop for some form of consideration for this wasted money, and all the manager kept telling me is that they fixed "a" problem that existed on the vehicle, so I got something for my money, and they were off the hook. I was given a free oil change card, which seemed more like a directive to go away. I also contacted AAA corporate office about the issue, and they told me to pound sand with some templated email about the decision being "final" (despite there never being any back-and-forth on it between us). Sounds like they are proud of their sales-oriented culture. I expected more from this company, both at the shop and from their corporate response. The bottom line: AAA is a good place for an oil change at a good price (and I may return for that service), but I wouldn't trust them with anything complex. There are many better options out there.
