I've been coming to this location for years and have usually gotten pretty good service. I came in yesterday to grab a belt tensioner assembly kit (with a serpentine belt). A young man was working the register while two others were handling product at the other end of the counter. Neither asked what I needed as the cashier rang up the one customer ahead of me. That took a couple of minutes so I waited. The cashier must have been new because when he asked what needed, he didn't ask the make and model of the car that it was for. When he looked over at the gentleman across the counter (Christopher) and asked him where to find the part, he seemed almost annoyed so the cashier asked the other guy. He went to the back before coming back to ask me what kind of car. We looked at the computer screen together because he wasn't really sure what the part was. Neither of the other guys came over make sure he was okay. I left, not knowing for sure that I had the correct part for my car. I also needed the serpentine belt and there wasn't one available in the store. Honda CRVs are pretty common and I believe it fits other Honda vehicles but not a single one on hand? This experience is making me rethink about where I get my auto parts in town. read more

The dreaded CHECK ENGINE light on my car lit up, so I went to AutoZone, thinking I needed to buy a device to find a more specific cause before talking to my mechanic. I saw a sign about Fix Finder (a free service) on the wall, which made me hopeful that the staff could help me with finding out the specific cause of this broad/vague alarm. The staff who helped me was very helpful and friendly, not at all bothered by providing a free service. He plugged an OBD2 reader into my car's port ... and couldn't get a reading. So he got another reader, and tried again. This one worked, and he gave me a printout and explained what the code means. I asked a lot of questions as it was a Sunday, and I needed to drive the car for short trips until I could talk to my mechanic. He and another staff, in spite of having to help other customers, patiently helped me feel comfortable about those necessary short trips. I was very grateful for their genuine care to help me, and I bought an OBD2 reader so I could do it myself if this happens again. read more

I called ahead on Friday, 10/3 at 10:40 AM to confirm they had a replacement battery for my Audi and could handle the installation. I spoke with Jim and specifically asked to make sure they offered installation since I Audis require battery registration with a specific tool. He told me it wouldn't be a problem and I could come in when I returned to town. Based on this, I planned to come in once I returned to town. When I arrived on Tuesday, 10/7 around 3:30 PM -- with a car that had no power steering due to the failing battery -- I was met with complete disregard. A man identifying himself as the store manager told me, "I don't know who you talked to, but they shouldn't have told you that", and followed up by trying to sell me a battery. No ownership, no apology, no solution. Just a shrug and an offer to sell me a battery that they wouldn't and I couldn't install. No assistance or concern that I was now stuck in their parking lot due to their lack of communication. There was no offer to install the battery, no jumpstart, no testing, no troubleshooting -- nothing. Not even a suggestion of what I could do next. Just a manager who didn't care that I had been misled by the staff he is responsible for training and supervising. To make matters worse, two other employees walked past me while I was sitting on the curb outside the store, both acknowledging that the store should be able to do the installation -- yet neither offered to help or follow up. They simply walked back inside, ignoring the situation entirely. In the end, AAA came to the rescue. They showed up in the AutoZone parking lot, sold me a battery, and installed it on the spot -- all within 15 minutes. AutoZone advertises battery installation as a service. I confirmed it over the phone before coming in. Yet when I showed up, I was left completely stranded, dismissed by a manager who took no responsibility, and treated like an inconvenience once I finish as no longer a potential sales opportunity. This wasn't just disappointing -- it was unprofessional, negligent, and reflects a complete failure in basic customer service and accountability. read more

The store manager, Jim was excellent!!!! Can't say enough good things about his customer service.  I'm as clueless as can be when it comes to car things but he did a great job at showing me all my options & made sure I didn't leave without everything I needed. He explained what I needed to do and how to troubleshoot. I was able to go home and do as he explained (spark plugs) without having to return to the store! I almost bought an extra part I thought I needed and he suggested I try fixing the cheapest part first, saved myself a couple hundred bucks & I will 10000% be back for all my car parts now knowing there is lifetime warranty to products bought at Auto Zone. read more

I have a new Jeep Wrangler and wasn't sure how to get the hood open nor how to add windshield washer to a now empty tank of it. I drove into AutoZone, was greeted immediately by Jim, who sold me a premium brand of window washer that also helps with bug removal from the windshield, and immediately helped me open the hood, install the product, and sent me on my way. I love auto zone and I always use it over o Reily's or pep boys. This review is more specifically for Josh. He helped me out tremendously on Saturday September 13 with my wife's new car. She didn't have the vin handy and I wasn't sure what oil filter to buy. Josh insisted on helping me since he could see I was frustrated. Not only that, but he politely took SEVEN used oil gallons that I brought in. Trust me, I hate taking in my used oil because guys always hate taking it and are typically rude. This is by far the most I ever turned in and it was the nicest response I ever received. Joshua brought a wheel cart to help take it and was so nice the entire time I was truly astonished. So was my wife. I have never had a better customer service experience in any store at any time in my entire 35 years of life. Not only that, Joshua called me at the end of the shift to let me know I accidentally turned in a full, unused 5 quarts oil. Wow. Lastly, he upsold me on multiple items like an air. A in filter and chevron with Techron. So Joshua is the whole package, great personality with great customer service with great salesman skills. read more

I said hello to try to get someone's attention. After 5 minutes, I walked out without purchasing anything. I've been here a few times and the customer service is hit or miss. 10/11/2018: Busy, busy day! I had to visit Firestone in the morning first, repairing two maintenance, checklist points for the remaining 2018 year. Firestone recommended I buy my cable snow chains in Folsom because this auto store always carries a wide assortment of brands of snow cables/chains products for most vehicles. I called while I was at Firestone inquiring if, the store had in stock my truck's tire size snow cables; the store manager confirmed, "Yes!" Upon arrival, the store manager placed a "hold" on the snow cables I needed for my truck; prior months, I searched from SF Bay Area, Manteca, Tracy, Stockton, Elk Grove, Sacramento, Roseville, Auburn, and Placerville for the snow cables fitting my truck's tire size which each auto parts store only carried limited quantities of either smaller or extremely large vehicles' snow chains only, i.e., unwanted by me. The store manager opened the snow cables' bag for my inspection: I was definitely impressed by the high quality workmanship and more importantly, the side wall, cable tighteners accompanied the snow cables inside the bag; sadly and disappointingly, other snow cable brands required you must purchase the snow cable tighteners separately which I felt was unorthodox, price gouging. Overall, I am absolutely satisfied with the snow cables I purchased; plus, confidently knowing I have peace possessing the new snow cables-never ever worry about the whether or not erratic weather will dump six to eight feet of snow: The snow cables with cable tighteners will insure I arrive at my destination safely. read more

My wife informed me her car wouldn't start a few hours before I got off work. I had her try a few things including changing the battery in her key fob since the car would not engage; however, nothing worked. I showed up after work with jumper cables and tools, connected the cables and waited 5 minutes before trying to start the car...... nothing. We allowed the battery to charger longer ..... nothing. We ended up disconnecting / removing the battery and bringing it up to Autozone to be tested. It is important to note that the "dead" battery was purchased from Autozone January 2022, which means the battery was still under a 36 month warranty period. Jacob, a true professional, tested the battery for me multiple ways with all tests indicating the battery was "good". The manager, Jim, said, "let's change out the batteries just in case" to which his intuition proved to be correct - the battery needed to be replaced. Jacob even came out to my car, connected the new battery and the car started immediately. Jacob then tested the battery, started, and alternator - the tests indicated all parts were "good", which proved that the battery that was replaced was no longer able to hold a charge. Check engine light comes on!! Oh no!! '06 honda , 30 days from smog check. Did not want to go to dealer...ouch...these days. Stopped in on a Sunday morning. Greeted promptly by Kenneth. Using their fix finder, Kenneth downloaded the info from my Honda. Inside did not like the code that popped up... Catalytic converter and /or sensor. New convertor $2500 plus labor. Sensors $70 plus labor. Kenneth felt that with the so few miles on the car that it was probably not the convertor. Kenneth offered a suggestion of a bottle of catalytic convertor cleaner. $30.00. What did I have to lose? He also offered non dealer repair shops in the Folsom / El Dorado Hills area. Followed manufactures instructions. Guess what after 90 miles of driving and three days later the check engine light went off. The honda passed its smog test. Thank you Kenneth and AutoZone for saving me a lot of money. Definitely will return as the car is aging and continues to be reliable vehicle. read more

Today I went to have my oil changed at the dealership, once they were done of course they try to add more things that need to be done. They told me my cabin filter and air filter needed to be changed. I informed them that I would do it myself. So on my way home I stopped at auto zone , when I open the door I was surprised at how many women were there even though I too am a women. I guess other women are doing maintenance on their vehicles too that's great. The young man who assisted me was Tommy Gerke.. How do you not stock drain plug gaskets, I went in and purchased oil and filters for 3 cars and they didn't have gaskets for any of them. The 2019 gmc with a 5.3 liter uses the same gasket as about 50 percent of all gm trucks and SUVs , the Cameron Park location had all 3 in stock , this store is a joke! read more

In these trying times, there are a few things that just don't add up. I have had good experiences with this Auto Zone in the past but today, they really ticked me off. My son (39) I went there for to purchase car wash solution and unfortunately, he forgot his mask. I asked if they provided a mask for customers and was given a mask for my son. Now granted, we failed to bring the mask and we wear one religiously and it's our fault for not being prepared. However, upon checkout, we were charged $ 1.00 for the cheap disposable mask. In other locations, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, and most major retailers, the masks are free for those dumb enough to forget theres. However, look a the times we are in. You can buy a box of masks, hundreds of them for pennies. Is the profit margin so low at Auto Zone that they can can't afford to welcome their customers in their store with a free cheap disposable mask? Everything we purchased could be at my door by Amazon within a day or two. Perhaps Auto Zone management doesn't see the light that their very existence is dependent on customers like us. And no it's not the dollar, it's the attitude that stems from it. No wonder businesses like Auto Zone days are numbered. This is one time they put a nail in their own coffin over a stupid mask. I went to the AutoZone in Folsom looking for a distributor gasket for a Chevy 350. Usually, the people working there are great, but I ran across a real jerk. I told him I needed a gasket for my distributor and instead of asking me what kind of car, he just stared at me like I was an idiot. I thought he would ask me what he needed as he put it in the computer. I finally said, it's for a 1967 camaro 350. He said OK, I will put in a 1978 C10 and see what comes up. I looked at the screen and he abruptly turned it towards me and said, "here, you wanna see? We don't have it!" I said okay, then let's try a 1967 350. He plugged it in again and again turned the screen towards me and said, "nope, don't have it". The screen actually said to call the main number, but he didn't bother to offer so I left. There are many vehicles that use the same gasket, but he just felt compelled to try and make me feel stupid. I left before I got into it with him. I figured leaving was better than making a scene. However, I've had strong feelings thinking I should go back and tell him what I think of him! read more

My battery on my vehicle died at work I was able to have it jumped and went straight to Autozone to get the battery tested then my battery died again while I was at Autozone. Dan was very informative. He showed me that my battery was behind my passenger seat under the floorboard. I have never known a battery to be in that place. AutoZone in Folsom is great. Over the years they have helped me out so much. In the olden days I'd buy a wiper blade or a light to replace a burnt out bulb in the car and they would install it/them for me. I guess they got in trouble for doing that by the big dealerships and can no longer offer that additional help but please know it's not because they don't want to.
