Upon arriving at the store, I asked the guy at the first register if they had trim clips. He said, politely, "I don't know. He'll help you when he's free," nodding at the middle guy. So I asked about the trim clips. They don't carry them. He said, "There's too many different kinds." I said, "Well, what kind of parts do you have?" He said, "Hard parts. Brakes, rotors, things like that." I asked him the price for brakes for my car, and....less than $70 each!!! He said, "They cost more because it's a fancy car." The price for "regular" brakes? Less than $40!!! I was outraged. Told him that I don't need brakes just yet, but will come back when I do. He said, "I got a guy who can do them for you." Awesome. I found a good guy near me, but will absolutely do a price comparison. I suspect the markup on brakes is very, very high, although labor costs make up the bulk of the charges for new brakes. While I didn't get the trim clips, and also didn't drive long enough to get the inspection done, I am very happy to have found this parts store! Most of the inventory is behind the counter, but fluids etc are on accessible shelves.

Both happened several miles apart in opposite directions in town so we know it wasn't our street or driveway that needs another sweeping. Joe and his team took care of everything courteously and quickly, in both instances the tires were able to be plug-patched and were back in our care in record time. We've had Stacks do work before at the North Babylon location for years and they've always treated us fairly and cost is always reasonable. Not long after we moved to East Northport, they opened their second location a mile from our new home, so we can continue to use a shop we trust. Time passed and I made an appointment to bring the car in today for an inspection, AND I was able to book for an alignment. I brought the car in and said I scheduled an alignment and inspection. I was asked "what are you feeling" in regards to needing the alignment, I repeated I know the car needs an alignment, but did not answer his question about how the car "felt" I'm assuming to gauge if he thought the car needed said alignment. No mention of the alignment software being down, or any potential issues with the machine were mentioned. I then received a call that my car was ready, that they drove it and it drove well, but that their alignment machine was down so they couldn't do the alignment as I had scheduled. I was told that the customer service is over seas and they can't get anyone to help them fix it because of the time difference. Im confused as to why they said my car drove well, when it had needed an alignment for months, and why they think it's appropriate to jerk customers around in regards to the services they provide. To me that means, either you aren't skilled enough to realize that when you drove the car it needed an alignment, you didn't actually drive the car like you said you did and assumed I didn't know what I was talking about, or you're incapable or providing the services you advertise. The entire interaction felt belittling and condescending.

I googled auto parts stores in the area and called the 1st one, they told me they were closing due to the weather and wouldn't wait a few minutes for me to get there. called the next one and I couldn't understand the fellow who answered the phone (he couldn't understand me either) and when I asked if I could speak with someone else I was put and left on hold... Then I called Tinker Auto Parts, they were great!! he looked to make sure he had the right part so I didn't waste my time, and then he promptly told me they had what I needed and told me how to get there from where I was. I wish I remembered the gentleman's name that helped me because he was so nice and deserves a high five! The store was busy, clearly it is a favorite auto parts store in the community. Although it was late and cold and snowy, they offered to help get the broken cap off for me. I actually had already gotten it out and had it in my pocket but I appreciated the offer! Long story, but I wanted this review to show how pleased I was with this business, and I highly recommend Tinker Auto Parts!! Thanks fellas!
