I have taken two cars to A & A Automotive for pre-purchase inspections (PPI, aka buyer's checks)…read more Both inspections were thorough and honest. We were treated with respect, and our questions were answered in detail. This is a multi-generational family-owned business, and I have had positive interactions with each generation and multiple levels of staff, from the owners, managers, and mechanics. Note, because this matters to some: I'm a woman and have not experienced any patronizing treatment. I've only had positive interactions with their team. The first car I brought in for inspection had very high miles but they learned that it was in fantastic mechanical condition--and since that was unlikely, the rest of their team joined in on the inspection to keep searching for some flaw that had been missed. They found nothing significant and gave us a list of the maintenance and repairs we should expect over the next few years, how much they would typically cost, and when we should expect them. That gave us the confidence needed to purchase the car and drive it across the country the next day. The second car I brought in had low miles, was in great exterior condition, and drove wonderfully. I only had it inspected for peace of mind. The A & A team found a host of problems under the surface. They learned that the car had internal parts held together by zip-ties, multiple leaks, and was almost certainly an unreported flood car. Disaster on wheels, no matter how well it drove in the short-term. I asked quite a few questions in both cases, and everything was answered in detail.

HONEST, INTEGRITY, QUALITY all of the the above from this shop!!! If I could give this shop 10…read morestars I would, we came from a horrible experience at Lambs Automotive in Buda to this shop. They are reliable and saved me from a 12,000.00 unnecessary repair the other shop had quoted me. Ask for Lucas Collier, he's your man if you are looking for a truly genuine repair man. We can't THANKYOU enough and will be sending all our business your way and sharing your shop with everyone. Please read below (if you have time but I highly recommend you take the time to read) what I had to post as a review on the other shop because this is why we love Champion. The whole staff there is wonderful. Thankyou Lucas, Blue and team again!! Below is the review I had to post on Lambs Automotive in Buda and you can read for yourself why we love Champion Auto in San Marcos ... Lambs Auto Repair Review *WARNING* First time bringing my car in here since it changed from McSpaddens to Lambs in Buda and wow I am SUPER disappointed. I brought my car in due to a gas smell it was giving- and for them to do a diagnostic test to see what may be the issue. Mind you my car has never over heated or my check engine light was never on. They called me after running a couple tests saying I had two options because they believed I had a broken head gasket. They said I needed a brand new motor For 12,000.00 or they were going to need to replace head gasket and surrounding parts for around 6,5000.00. I know nothing about cars so I call my husband in a panic. Thank God for my husband knowing things about cars. It just didn't seem possible my car needed all that work. So we took it from Lambs and found another shop recommended by some friends. Champion Auto Repair in San Marcos. HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking your car there instead. They are honest, experienced and do quality work. Ask for Lucas Collier, was so impressed with him. They ran all the tests and found NO broken head gasket! Turns out my jeep just needed a little tune up ( new spark plus etc) and more importantly IF my head gaskets needed replacing ,as Lambs had said, this new shop quoted us 2800.00 for the EXACT same repair. Doing research we found Lambs was BEYONd over charging us and charging us for repairs that weren't even needed!! feel pretty taken advantage of, and would still be trying to figure out a way to take a loan out to be able to pay for a repair at Lambs that was never even needed. Definitely won't be trusting this shop. Lesson learned 1. Always do research on cost of parts and 2. Always get a second opinion. *Also noticed that all the five star reviews are actually from the previous ownership which was McSpaddens. So do your research!! (512) 938-1122

This past time I went because there was a discount for ac diagnostic, but after giving us an outrageous quote for the work, we decided to take the car elsewhere. They then changed their minds on giving us the discount first because we didn't "get any repairs" and then the excuse changed to we "didn't click the link in the text". Dont go to this shop they'll just rip you off and try to steal your money. Edit: We just got a second opinion and it was less than half the price that Franks quoted us.

I can't comment on the quality of their work as I never got that far with them. I carefully…read moreexplained the issue with my car...both an ODBC scan and the information on the car's screen indicated a faulty Oil Temperature Sensor. The gentleman at the desk said they would need to check the thermostat as that sometimes caused the problem and quoted a price for the diagnostics. I let him know that the water temp was not reading high and reiterated that the problem was the oil temp sensor. He quoted me a price to replace it and I gave them my information and set up an appointment for the next morning. Later that day I got 2 additional phone calls that were so confused on their part that it gave me pause. I took the car in anyway the next morning and on the way home I received a call telling me that they were seeing an a code for the faulty oil temp sensor and did I want to fix that too. Completely exasperated by their lack of understanding of the situation I asked them to give me an updated quote and was told they would get right back to me. Two hours later I received a call with what seemed to me a ridiculously high price based on the information I had available (and much higher than the original quote). When I picked up the car without them doing any work they seemed totally unconcerned about the loss of business. Caveat Emptor
