This location is also a Budget location, so sometimes you are renting through Avis and sometimes through Budget, although they always answer the phone as Avis (which can throw you a bit if you are Budget and are not aware).

I went to return the vehicle today 4/8 in Hopkins and told the manager (Mike Farrell) my experience on 3/25 and suggested they call customers to give them notice that the Hopkins location closes early. The Mike was defensive and claimed I wasn't there at 12pm, he was there until 12:08, he could prove he was there by some printout he made, claimed he called me at 10am on 3/25 but the number was not in service, and pretty much I was wrong. I asked what number her called and he couldn't provide any information stating it was 2 weeks ago. It was so ridiculous that I started laughing. I wasn't looking for any discounts or refunds. I just wanted to share my experience for better customer service in the future. The rental itself was fine and I had a really good experience at the Blooming location.

The horrible service came from a rental agent named MARISSA, who could not have been less helpful. I had pre-ordered a car with Sirius XM radio and navigation. When I arrived to pick up the car, I reminded Marissa that I had to have navigation as I was unfamiliar with the area and had quite a bit of driving to do. She assured me all cars had navigation. I told her I'm 72 years old and not very tech savvy, and sometimes need help figuring different navigation systems. She told me to google instructions. When I got to the car I discovered the Sirius radio and Navigation had not been activated. When I went back inside I informed Marissa of the problem. She could not be bothered and told me to call Customer Service. I asked for the Customer Service number and she told me it was on the paper work she gave me (which I had left in the car). She slammed the paper with customer service number on the counter. clearly irritated. Thinking I might be able to find my way to my first destination I asked for directios to Hwy 169, which I knew was near. She said she wasn't from the area and didn't know where anything was. I said, given her job, she might want to familiarize herself with the area. She snapped back, "I don't have to know that!" She then said she wasn't going to deal with me anymore and went into the back room. I was on the phone for an hour with a very pleasant woman who ultimately could not get the navigation actived, hard as she tried. I then decided I needed to try to find a car elsewhere, and needed to cancel the Budget reservation. I was assured I would not be charged a cancellation fee. After returning the key to Marissa she immediately billed me $120. Fortunately there was an ENTERPRISE branch 5 blocks away. The agent there, DAN, could not have been more helpful and I was able to rent a car which met my needs. To be fair, when I got home I called Budget Customer Service and spoke to a very helpful guy named NELSON who promptly arranged for a refund.

Buying a car can be a stressful thing even under the best of circumstances, but buying one sight unseen from an out of state dealer can be a potentially perilous proposition if things don't go well. However, overall Auto Source made the experience almost pain-free from start to finish. My salesman was Brandon M. and he exhibited a high degree of professionalism and courtesy throughout the process. The car arrived exactly as it was described and with no surprises, which is exactly what you want in this type of transaction. We did a quick and relatively painless deal without any unnecessary negotiation and gamesmanship. The price was agreed fairly quickly and the deal was done. I would have liked to have made this a 5-star rating, but one small issue prevented me from doing that. I had agreed to pay a $300 "split the difference" shipping premium to get the car here as quickly as possible, but they were not able to deliver on their original commitment of "2-3 days". (The car arrived roughly 7 days after I had made payment to them.) Not a huge thing, but I had agreed to that extra amount to get the car earlier and then it didn't happen. Their solution? They offered to refund the $300 immediately when I called them expressing my disappointment. The check arrived with title and a nice handwritten thank you note a few days later. I don't understand why more dealers don't get that a little professionalism, courtesy, and honesty is all it takes to be successful in this business? It seems the folks at Auto Source, however, do. The checkin process was super easy, and it was easy to return with a full tank of gas since there is a gas station right across the street.
