My garage door stopped working last week and I wasn't sure who to call. I called this company and they were able to come the first free day I was available and at the time I was free. He explained everything to me in a way I could understand and replaced everything in an hour and my garage door is now fully functional, the price came to $284 to replace the components of the system (cable, wheels etc) not the electronic part or the door. I was pleased with the service. They also replaced the stripping on the bottom of my door. OMG... I called a bunch of different companies and one came, the guy could barely speak English and he told me he couldn't "fix" my door he could only install a new one for $2,000.00. I then called Automatic Door Company and got a call back pretty quickly. Scheduled the appointment and Matt Schreyer came out. He took one look at my door and within 10 seconds fixed it!! I know nothing about garage doors and it was just a pull down lever that had to be pushed back up in place. They gave me an approximate cost for the job and an appointment was made for the following day, Tuesday. The technician, who's name I forgot, called and confirmed the time. They answered the phone promptly when I called, were relatively flexible in working with my schedule, and showed up at the scheduled time to do the work. The two fellas who came to fix the door were professional and got the worked done quickly, cleanly and effectively. Rewinding back one year to 2014, Kevin from Automatic Door Company came by to assess and fix the spring on both arms with independent pullies for $180. Fast forward to present day, April 2015, our string broke in less than a year...strange. In this essence, we come to find out that only one string was replaced while the other remained original to the door. The two gentlemen that showed up, Mark and Jim were pleasant and were messengers to Kevin whom now indicated to charge me an additional $135 dollars for labor and parts which I declined. I further indicated that I did not expect to see this company so soon as it has been less than a year and new parts were installed, however, why would the owner in his expertise only replace one string and allow the other to deteriorate that caused additional damage to the spring. I did not fathom that less than a year I am now subjected to pay $315 for poor workmanship and ill-decisions by the company, let alone the owner. I manage 65 people and take full responsibility for all decisions I make and defend my team to the utmost extreme with respect to patient care. Business ethics is vital to our core as well as customer service to the clients that we provide results and guarantee them. Automatic Door Company does not honor best practice and their gamut for Business Ethics run on a completely dynamic driven by the owner who relays this message to his team. Met Kevin in the morning before work. The guy knows his doors and it helped that they installed the original doors back in 1994 based on the sticker on the motor. Kevin even was able to match the previous owner with the house. Frankly, I'm pretty picky when it comes to someone coming to my house to do work(who isn't?). I'll typically shop around and price match. In this case I didn't because I felt so comfortable with Kevin's knowledge/experience. He installed the doors that same day and I came home to new doors. Based on the little research I did on buying/installing on my own, I'd say we got a good deal. Also, it appeared Kevin through in some extras based on the price and the end result. As for the work, I was more than happy with the choices he gave me and the quality job they did. We replaced the doors, sensors and some of the old springs. He also helped me re-code some of the old remotes hanging around. This company has been in business for 20+ years for a reason and I'm sure I'll be recommending him to anyone who needs garage doors. read more

Wow. These guys are great. I got two doors installed in a spot that was just framework on an 80 yr old garage being fixed up. I shopped around first. I talking to a few companies with guys doing the "hey little lady, that's gonna cost ya" bit. Worse than that, they were slow to return calls, and more expensive. It was very refreshing to talk to Kevin, the owner - he's polite, and completely understood that I was trying to be cost conscious given the old structure's limitations. No trying to oversell me, no trying to 'little lady' me. He took the time to answer all my questions, super prompt replies. He sent estimates via email, which I prefer, came to the house when I wasn't here the first time actually, checked out the situation, which was so helpful while I was at work. Then, just when I was going to set the install date, I lost my job. I pulled the plug. I told Kevin (owner) I'd have to wait, not sure how long. He was totally cool about it. There were no hassling me calls. (try that with Castle windows, geez those folks won't leave ya alone). When I was ready a few month's later, Kevin's crew was here installing just a few days after I said 'go'. Two guys, Mark and Chris I think, just the nicest guys. I've had my house by myself for 18 years, and through all of my fixer upper moments, and there have been a lot, I rarely encounter this kind of great customer service. Strange thing about garage doors- I am a guy who is pretty darn handy around the house and fit or make most things work. However when it comes to automatic doors etc - I am in now way inclined to even think about them. So when one of our garage doors broke last night, I was very happy to call someone in to fix it. My experience in 5 years of living in Connecticut has taught me to set my expectations low when calling in contractors. But these guys are the surprise. Initial call was answered well, good polite manner, with a promise to call me back with a time and a schedule. How many times have you heard that and ended up calling again?. Well not these guys, true to their word a quick call back to tell me they can be at my house in around 45 minutes. Guess what? they were there right on time, quickly looked the job over and repaired my broken door, with all the parts on board their van - no coming back with parts in a few days etc. Just great workmanship. with a couple of extra modifications to both doors to prevent damage to the vehicles. Full service of the equipment and job complete. Reasonable charges along with a very customer focused team. We had just had had a company we had used before, out earlier to help with what we assumed was a small problem, a remote that wasn't functioning. They tried to convince us to replace the entire system on both our doors, which would have cost over $1,000. Instead, Matt fixed the door in a second (simply unplugging and replugging it). Kevin and his team could not be any better, easier and better priced. I came home on a Saturday night and as I was closing my garage, the chain snapped. What made it even more "enjoyable" is I was flying out on Sunday night and my wife isn't the most technical for me to ask her to handle it.
