I thought this was the worst train experience I have ever had. And when I asked the woman on the train how do we wash our hands she said you can't. If you need to poop you better hold it or not take the train. I will never take public transportation in Spain. It is also very difficult to understand and I speak Spanish.

The small station is located northeast of the major attractions e.g. the New Bridge and the Bull Ring. We went straight out of the station and walked along the Nida Martinez Astein perpendicular to station on Av Andalusia; turned right on Avenida de Malaga; all the way to the end to reach our two primary attractions we came to see. There is a tourist info center right there. Touring done by 1300. With plenty of time to spare we stopped at a nice, casual restaurant called Las Maravillas for coffee beer and salad. Thinking there's an earlier train to Malaga (nada!) we returned to the station by 1420 and ended up drinking more beer and coffee to while away time before we could board the train. We noted the bus station and a supermarket (bottled water) are a short walk to the right when you exit the train station. Perhaps buses may have great scheduling flexibility. Or wander around to visit more sights.

This service started a few years ago and has been a popular hit since. In summer the catamaran is…read moreusually packed and they only sell so many tickets. During special events in Cadiz they may extend the later number of ferries to a later hour, such as Carnaval in Cadiz, so watch out for that and be sure to always buy a r/t ticket in Rota. While there is no discount for buying r/t should you return after a huge event, you may find yourself not buying a return Cadiz to Rota ticket simply because it's sold out! As of October 2011 the attached illustrations of schedule and cost is effective. My most recent ride on the catamaran was during very high winds and though there was some rocking due to the winds and swells, it still was quite nice. Bathrooms are available onboard the catamaran and in both terminals in Rota and Cadiz. Once in Cadiz, just follow the others out of the maze of the terminal, across the harbor street, turn right, cross the first vehicle entrance at the harbor guard shack, then turn immediately left and out the gate. on the street turn right and along the sidewalk to the first traffic light and crosswalk and you're just minutes from City Hall and about ten mins from the Cathedral. At both terminals little english is spoken and if you call the number you'll probably be speaking spanish also. If you bicycle, bikers are loaded onto the ferry last and through a separate entrance, so don't wait in line with the foot traffic. Keep your ticket at all times while on the ferry as it's your sole proof of purchase. Do not mix up your tickets as each is marked as to the direction of travel, plus the time. NOTE: If you buy a r/t ticket you'll need to tell them the exact time you'll be return. You cannot just say round trip and swap it later for a later ticket. In the case of high seas they will cancel the catamaran service. When that happens buses will be provided for those who have purchased tickets. The ferry is about 40 mins in duration and gives a refreshing change to the scenery. No parking or traffic worries, and once in Cadiz you are in the ancient old downtown that makes Cadiz so unique, and just close enough for a great foto trip. Information contact: 902 450 550 (a fee-charged number) PHOTOGRAPHICALLY SPEAKING: Cadiz is great for capturing the Cuban architectural influence, plus the centuries-old streets and buildings. Highly recommended if possibly that you catch the Cathedral, playa de la Caleta, plaza Mina, and the short walk to the island fort! The food is great too! Along the way to/from Cadiz you can snap birds, boats and clouds - Enjoy the time on the ferry and don't just sit inside!

direct ferries is a rip off. their website sells you tickets you can't useread more
