this was the fourth city that we'd visited in spain, and since we'd had a pretty good experience with the "city sightseeing" company, we decided to purchase day passes for sevilla as well. since sevilla's public transit isn't as efficient as say, barcelona or madrid, we felt that the city tour bus would be the best way for us to see everything we could during our stay. since we'd purchased city sightseeing tour tickets in another city and kept our receipts, we were given a 15% discount off the regular tour bus price. for €15/per person, we were entitled to:
+a bus that made a large loop around the city, making 12 stops which included major landmarks such as the plaza de espana, the triana neighborhood (old town sevilla), and the alameda de hercules.
+hop on and hop off access for 24 consecutive hours
+complimentary ear buds with commentary in english (and 15 other languages)
+free wifi while on the bus
unfortunately, this tour bus did not stop by the catedral de sevilla or reales alcazares, two of the most popular tourist attractions in sevilla...perhaps due to the narrow roads that lead to each of these landmarks?
initially, we hopped on and off the bus a couple of times, so that we could see each destination in more detail, but then the clouds moved in and started dumpling rain on us, so we ended up staying on the bus for almost a full loop since there was a tarp that covered the top level of the bus. it was harder to sightsee with the tarp on, but at least we stayed dry and got to rest our feet for a while. since it was raining, we decided not to take advantage of any of the walking tours.
this was a good way to see the entire city without having to figure out public transit or use a map and go by foot. and we definitely appreciated the shelter from the rain for a couple of hours while mother nature took its course. read more
