Also their counter folks know their stuff and you do not have to explain to them what you need. They get it. Recently I had some brake parts I could not use because I had to get the complete brakes done at a shop being on a timeline. I asked if I could refund my new parts that I purchased and it was no problem. The receipt was several months old! The shelves are all extremely organized and the staff have some what of a family feel going on. Probably due to the mom and pop thing they push which I'm always happy to support rather than places like auto zone which are basically Walmarts and running Michigan into the ground as I type this. I'm pretty big on customer service especially when it comes to auto parts because they can end up costing a pretty penny. That being said I like to know exactly what I'm getting and wouldn't mind someone kindly dumbing it down for me, while not making me feel dumb haha. The countermen at United were MORE than helpful and ended up saving me money! All around good experience I give you four stars!

I poured around 4,000 dollars on my poniac G6 2009 to be fixed at various of places, and it was like they never fixed it, my car would shake will going over 50 miles per hour, I couldn't even go on the freeway. My tires were flying off while driving causing near death, my alignment was never done and mind you it was messed up from the drunk driver who was driving a trunk bigger than my little Pontiac and it squished it. My car has never driven better after I took it to Gratiot wheel and tire supply! Best service, understandable people and most importantly honest. My car drives like it's brand new, I couldn't be more happy I found this place. I will never trust anybody else with my car besides this place. We went to Hastings on a hunt for brass fittings for a radiator. (Why Pontiac would randomly change…read morethe size of the bungs on the coolant lines of their OEM radiators, I have no clue.) Unfortunately, they didn't carry them. Which struck me as odd. They have a sizable selection of serious car parts; you can browse aisles of transmission parts, which seems like things they would keep behind the counter, as well as many things dealing with auto repair that I would categorize above a "driveway mechanic's" ability to use - head gaskets, valve springs, rods... things like that. So I took one star off because they weren't able to supply me with a simple adapter that was easily found at Murray's Discount Auto, but they definitely get four stars for having some serious parts in stock. If you're looking to do more than a tune up, I'd suggest going to Hastings, and if they don't have it, then United Auto just a mile north on Gratiot.
