I have changed my rating from 1 star to 4. Original review: I am so disappointed with our experience at this Golden Rule Brake. I made an appointment for my minivan and brought my toddler and newborn in to have it looked at right after the first snow. I was informed that I needed new pads, rotors and calipers on all 4 wheels, totaling just over $1200. Right before Christmas. Ugh. I had it looked at by two other local mechanics that week, both of which agreed that A) Calipers almost NEVER need to be replaced and B) The front pads and rotors were all that needed to be replaced. So we saved around $1,000 this holiday season. Having dealt with them before (we had brought our other vehicle into the Monroe store in 2011 and they were honest about us not needing to replace our pads yet) we didnt anticipate this outcome. I've been turned down by two other auto shops for a cabin air filter change because my car was "too complicated" to have it changed. Excuse for "We don't want to". Patriot Auto didn't even question it and now I don't have to have my fan on full blast to get a half decent AC airflow in my car. I learned, through that series of phone calls, that a lot of mechanics won't even work on hybrids. But Junior answered our call and made arrangements to look at our vehicle that day, with every intention of getting us on the road as soon as possible. Only, our vehicle ended up needing not one, but two major repairs. The engine had blown a head gasket, and the hybrid battery had failed. Before bringing us the news about these expensive repairs, Junior consulted with other professionals in the field to confirm what he was finding. It was clear he had built good relationships within the automotive community and wasn't afraid to seek a second opinion. Junior found us a brand-new Toyota hybrid battery and a replacement engine with significantly fewer miles than our original. He also took the opportunity to address smaller repairs that made sense while the engine was out, potentially saving us considerable labor costs down the road. He was mindful of our budget and made sure we'd have a say before anything pushed the cost higher. From the beginning, it felt like we had someone on our side. Junior was transparent, welcomed our questions, and was even willing to speak with trusted friends who knew more about cars than we did and wanted to help us understand our options. He kept us informed throughout the process, sent pictures as repairs were completed, and even sent me a video of my husband driving away in our Highlander. Our vehicle runs beautifully now. It's not often that you feel that kind of investment from someone. He told me his goal was to make our vehicle something his grandma would be safe driving. Juan and Greg are the most accommodating and informative mechanics I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with about car troubles. I came in for a simple oil change and was informed that my turbo was leaking ( I was aware of this and already had an appointment set up at another shop ) and with that Clark's quoted me 800 + dollars less than the other spot that I was originally looking at! Fixed it in a few hours and even showed me bits and pieces of the process along the way. On top of all that they showed me pictures of trouble areas and spots that needed attention. Answered literally every question I had about the pictures and let me know the level of importance for each thing that was brought up!
