I bought a used Honda accord for my son from Mr Raja. Everything went well till I picked up the DMV registration after 5 days of the car sale and he misspelt my son's last name, I felt so devastated. It was an emotional moment for the parents to give the title to the kids, but with mispelt wrong name, I had tears and felt helpless. This is the first car in my son's name and we wanted to give him a gift, IN the sale deed, which we signed the name was correct, indeed, Mr Raja has the copy of my son's driver's license. I picked up the DMV registration after 5 days and when I checked it the last name was misspelt, I called him instantly and requested for a change, instead of an apology to the customer, he blamed me for not checking it when I picked up. I wouldnot recommend anyone to this dealership. He said he would see what he would do and never returned my request. I waited for 4 weeks, the title camein wrong and even the renewal registration came in with misspelt name. Guys pl dont go to this place. Great experience, high trust and value factor, super friendly. My daughter found a 2012 VW Beetle for sale online from this small Mom and Pop dealer. The price had just been dropped and was lower than expected (more than $3k below blue book), so we thought it might be too good to be true. We decided to find a comparable vehicle nearby and take test drives to compare the two. As luck would have it, there was a nearly identical 2012 Beetle at a local VW dealer. Their sales rep came with us on the test drive (as expected), and we liked the car. When he quoted their price we showed him the comp from Auto Land, and he couldn't come near matching their price, which was about $3400 lower. Arrived at funky-friendly Auto Land and met Raja the owner. He asked who would be test driving, copied my daughter's driver license, and just handed her the keys. He WANTED us to drive it ourselves (without him) so we could talk freely and decide how we really felt about it. We loved the car. It was clean and felt more solid and better cared for than the other dealer car we'd driven. I called Raja during the test drive to tell him we wanted to have a mechanic inspect it. "Of course," he says..."take it wherever you want." Conveniently, there is a fine mechanic about 1/4 mile from Auto Land, and when he inspected everything, he said the car had been babied, almost like new. When it came to financing, Raja recommended a local credit union called Patelco. (Another great discovery -- their interest rates are about half of the commercial banks.) The whole experience was wonderful way for my daughter to purchase her first auto bargain. And 3 months later, she simply LOVES the car and we all fondly remember working with Raja and Auto Land. read more

I found a car I was interested in...posted online. I phoned the number and spoke to RAJA. Raja was VERY polite, and professional and told me the car I was interested in was still available. My husband and I drove up from SJ to check it out after having lunch and I gave Raja the approximate time we'd be there. We found the dealership in a small area next to two other auto service areas. The car had been freshly washed and was waiting for me! Raj asked for a copy of my CADL and I asked Raj for a car mat..as the ground was all wet from the washing, and I didn't want to track in dirty water on the CLEAN beige carpets. I wanted to be respectful of his merchandise if he was trusting me to drive it without him present. Raj started the car and told my husband and I to 'take our time' with the test drive. He didn't insist to drive with us and TRUSTED US with the car! We took out a nice Toyota Avalon that had about 1/4 tank of gas, and FRESHLY washed! I took the car around the immediate area for 10/15 minutes as 880 full of commute traffic and I didn't want to take the car out and 'test' it in bumper-to-bumper traffic. When I brought the car back, Raj was laid back, NO PRESSURE and super polite. WOW! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this small dealer who is professional, mature and NOT into slimy 'high pressure' sales or tactics! What a delight in this day and age! Some of the cars are older and high mileage, but gems and very clean. The car we were in was in very good condition for its age (over 11 years old), inside and out. And you could have eaten a meal on the carpet; with the SUPER CLEAN detailing done inside this Avalon. You can tell Raja takes pride in what inventory he has available and his staff mind their own business and get on with their work. While I didn't purchase the car I test drove, I wanted to acknowledge this small dealer as one you should visit---and hopefully buy from. Got a commuter car. Spoke to Rajja he is very nice kind man. However the process was painful with paperwork, dmv and all that involves with it. The car did not come with a spare key or manual books. Raja lost paperwork it was a bit of a mess and hassle when you have a full time and is unavailable to get the day off plus the money for gas and to commute between. This place needed an update. No offense to Cheryl, I'm glad she had an amazing experience, but mine wasn't quite as stellar. Looking for a cheap commuter car is a nerve wracking experience. There is no lie in the motto "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". So, seeing numerous lowly priced vehicles on Raja's lot made me wonder many questions. But, the need was still present and the research I had performed lead me to believe it was worth an inquiry. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly greeted and then handed the keys to the vehicle I was interested in buying in exchange for my drivers license. Okay, cool- a no pressure style of selling and Raja was the only person on staff. Fine, I went out to check all the basics I could. Fired it up, no gas in the tank. Being alone, I did not feel comfortable driving a car with no gas. But the rest seemed OK so I went back in and asked the usual questions. "We only sell Clean Title vehicles" "I'll give you a 2 week warranty, don't worry about it" "Here is the CarFax" Cool, but still- why is it $4,000 below KBB? So I walked away and debated it over night. Here was newer sedan with lower miles and a brand new engine in it and straight body. What could possibly be wrong? Is it worth buying and fixing with the money I saved? It did seem like it may have been in a flood, *but* it has a clean title. The answer was yes, it's worth picking up. I drove it when I had a co-pilot and thus determined all was truly in working order. There were a few noises that seemed odd and a couple of electrical mishaps, so I mentioned it to Raja and he promised to fix them. I confirmed I would like to buy the car, he wrote down all the promises and there was very little in the way of negotiation process. His math was off on the credit card business charge, but it was by $10 and I figured that would go towards some gas. I placed my deposit and left, happy with my decision and excited to pick it up the next day. Saturday afternoon, I got my car. Finished the paperwork, gave the rest of the amount, and was given the key and green light to go. It was all in all a very fast, very painless process. Sure, he could have been a bit more open with information, he never did get my the inspection report on the vehicle, but he did fix a few of my concerns no problem. I went to drive off, and saw no gas had been put in the car. Such a disappointment. To spend that much and then have to go right to the gas station to get it home. The noise was still there and he said a part was coming in to fix it. Okay, fine. I took the car to AAA Inspection to get a 'just in case' inspection anyway. They found the same thing that he had said, plus a few little things, so I felt pretty confident in my purchase. After the repair was performed to fix the noise the day before Thanksgiving, I was still pleased with Auto Land. Not quite so much with his cohorts at the shop next door (they took twice as long as they said they would and balked doing safety repairs suggested by AAA). After that I drove to my father's for holiday vacation. The car has a noise coming from the same area they said they would fix. I believe they did install the part as requested, but they didn't fix the problem. I had already driven 150 miles to figure this out. And it was getting worse and worse driving down the bumpy country roads. I called as soon as the holiday was over and told Raja that the noise was still there and it needed to be fixed. I drove straight to the dealer when I returned to town and Raja went on a drive with me. The noise duplicated and Raja said he'd put in on the rack, but the shop was very busy. So, he asked me to come back and set an appointment. I might as well just invest in a shop and get it fix instead of driving to Fremont (gas isn't cheap, as they certainly know!). So that's my story, and overall, it wasn't a bad ordeal, Raja is pleasant and helpful but do remember when coming here you are getting exactly what you are paying for. read more

I bought a used 2005 Honda CR-V with 140k miles on the odometer from Auto Land a few weeks ago. I mostly dealt with Sam but Raja (the smiley guy behind the desk when you walk into their office) is the owner I believe. Sam was friendly & patient with us as my fiancee & I test drove 2 of the 5 CR-V's they had on their lot. We came into the test drive already knowing what the market for CR-Vs was & having test drove ~8 CR-Vs in the prior week we knew what a fair deal would be if we ended up buying from Sam/ Auto Land. After the test drives Sam nicely left us alone & let us park the 2 CR-Vs we were considering next to each other so that we could compare them. Once we made up our mind that we liked the 2005 CR-V over a 2007 CR-V they had in stock we then went into the office to talk price. Sam made it easy on us in negotiations. He showed us the CarFax & the proof that it passed smog inspection. He then asked us what price would convince us to buy the car from him & I gave him a fair out-the-door (I.e. after taxes & fees) price and told him I would buy the car if he could match that price. Sam was able to do it and we were able to wrap up negotiations in approximately 15 minutes. The actual exchange of money & paperwork took about 30 minutes the following day & I had my new (to me) used CR-V. As a testament to his honesty, I failed to notice that a piece of the rear interior trim was missing from the car during my inspection of it. Sam pointed out the missing piece & promised to order it from the dealer & to install it for us. He even wrote a commitment into the contract that he would fix this part so that we would have it in writing. That was a small but very thoughtful gesture on his behalf that went a long way in showing me what kind of person Sam is. For their no pressure salesmanship, easy negotiations, honesty in describing the car, & follow-up in fixing the interior trim piece I give Auto Land 5 stars. This was one of my easiest & most relaxed used car buying experiences. Thanks Sam! A tip to other potential used car buyers: know the market for the type of car you are interested in & offer a fair price to the dealer. Also, don't be afraid to ask for repairs, an oil change, a full tank of gas, or stuff like that in the negotiation. The worst that will happen is that the dealer says no. read more

Just purchased a 1998 Toyota Avalon XLS with around 166,000 miles on it from Raja a few days ago. It's a nice small dealership and Raja takes a unique but refreshing laid back approach to selling his cars by giving you some brief information about the car before handing you the keys and letting the car sell itself. He was also generous and kind enough to work with my young self's lack of any credit and come up with a reasonable financing plan that allowed me to FINALLY cut my commute time in half!! I was a little worried when I wasn't offered a warranty plan similar to the one a previous reviewer said that they were given, but he informed me that they get parts for wholesale prices and that if I have any problems with the car, just let him know and they'll try to utilize their resources that will help me take care of it at a reasonable cost. As for the car itself, it's been great to me so far, but it's too soon to say if it's a lemon or not although based on previous reviews the odds are stacked in my favor in that aspect. read more

A little over two years ago I purchased a 1999 Subaru Forester L from here. I was going into my sophomore year in college at the time so money was short, but I must say I found the perfect car for me and for a perfect price. He even threw in a ski rack as well! I was in the market for a used car with reliable credentials (Honda Accord, Toyota Camry), after my car got stolen. I visited several dealerships and never felt comfortable dealing with those pushy and obnoxious sales people. With a young child, I absolutely needed to get a car and my trip to Auto Land was not without hesitation. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at the dealership. Ray and Raja were very helpful and allowed me to test drive the car with no pressure at all. I checked the KBB value of the car and the pricing was very competitive. I was somewhat anxious about the spongy brakes and timing belt/water pump changes (not done) and the old tires. Raja and Ray helped me out by offering to buy and fix the parts at wholesale prices ~ $500. They accepted payment by check and also held off processing it while my bank approved the loan and gave it to them couple of days later. I don't know where to begin with Raja. His approach to selling isn't like most car dealerships at all. Just by hearing his voice on the phone when I called to verify the availability of a car, I could tell hes really genuine type. When I went there to check out the car, he gave me the keys and told me to take my time. I didn't even have to look over the car much because it was such in good shape. Except from regular wear and tear of 9 year old vehicle, it was pretty much pristine. Looking at the carfax and I also verified with him, he took the car (that I purchase) and had it inspected at a real BMW dealership before putting it on the lot. Most small dealerships wouldn't bother with spending that amount of money nor time. They usually have their own little shops the go to that would pretty much find the cheapest way to get things done. probably even just temporary to be able to sell the car. He needs name/business needs to be spread around the area! I have told a few of my friends and family about him and they all said they'll go be going there next time they need a car! read more

I bought a 2010 ford Escape in August of 2013. Sam was the one that I worked with. He was great. He really bent over backwards to accommodate my needs. I was looking at a 2008, same car and it got sold just as I thought I would be able to buy it. He felt bad and offered me the same exact vehicle, 2 years newer, for the same price. I am so happy with it. I dont live near the dealership, so it wasn't easy to get there. Sam made every effort he could to meet me and try to make a really challenging situation as easy as possible. I have to say that in the end, I am so happy I found this place and the car. A few months later my boyfriend called him with a specific car in mind that he wanted and Sam went to auctions just to look for the car he wanted. No luck, but he was certainly trying. We just bought a '96 Mustang GT with ~120k on it and it is -beautiful-. More importantly, RAJA is beautiful...! Raja is great. He's honest, isn't full of bullshit, and makes sure to go out of his way helping you out with buying a used car. He let my fiancé and I check the car out inside and out, leaving us to our inspection in the car, out the car, under the hood; you name it, he just let us be while we gave it our full lookover. The oil light happened to come on when we started it up; we told him, he had genuine concern and rushed right away to grab some oil to fill it up and see if it would fix the problem. It did, and we continued our inspection. Once we were pleased with what we saw along with the CarFax (which he also got to us straight-away), he took a copy of one of our licenses and off we went on a test drive. He didn't even accompany us; he just let us take it out as we saw fit to test it out, really get a feel for it, listen to any potentially bad knocks or squeals (which there weren't!)...the works, again. Once it came down to purchasing it, the bank had an issue with getting us our money, but Raja has a good sense of self when it comes to determining out legitimate a buyer is or not. He knew we were very serious about the Mustang, even pointed it out to us, and let us figure out the timing with paying for it. In under a week, we got our car! We knew we wanted it, we pushed to make sure the bank didn't have any more issues with us, and we were able to put a down payment on the vehicle the first day which included registration and a title exchange and everything that comes with a vehicle purchase. We immediately brought the remainder the next day as our minds were thoroughly BLOWN by how gracious he was! (speaking of which, since our previous car's transmission had finally kicked the bucket, we were only able to take public transportation to and from Hayward - Newark. Raja actually picked us up from the BART station and took us to the dealership, then back to the station so we could go home. He even did it -again- when we came in to purchase the car. SO MUCH APPRECIATION FOR THIS!!! Again, however, I am certain he did this as he knew how serious we were. Please don't take what I'm saying as a chance to take advantage of his kindness.) Here I am, writing this up Saturday night as we've had the car for a few days. We're in love. He really does let the cars sell themselves. He doesn't even push anything extra or tries to make deals during the purchase finalization; if anything, he would kindly point out different parts of the forms that we were signing just for the sake of friendly clarification, and that's it. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. I also have a close friend and neighbour who is a mechanic and has reported to me that any of the owners of those vehicles are pleased as -hell- about their car purchase. While one may take that to meaning that the cars are faulty, absolutely DO not misconstrue what I'm saying, if you can help yourself. What I mean to say is that as a mechanic they're going to see a lot of cars, period, and if they notice Auto Land Newark customers praising their cars, it's likely they're just in for regular servicing and what have you of their own accord. TL;DR - the cars this place sells have great reputation, which speaks a lot for Raja and the decisions he makes with whichever vehicles that he's bringing to his lot to sell. I cannot praise him enough. I cannot praise how he runs his business enough. In fact, someone near and dear to me will be moving to California from Europe in due time, and he's so impressed by what I've told him, that he explicitly said to me, "Don't ever forget who this guy was, and what the place is. I am definitely going to buy my car from him!". This place is great. Raja is great. Am I annoying anyone enough yet with how much I'm saying it? GOOD. I should be. I cannot stress my feelings enough. I seldom write reviews on Yelp, but need to share my excellent buying experience received from Mr. Danaf this time. I picked a car at Auto Land, but was not really sure if it's a good choice. So, took the car to my mechanic. He checked it and everything seems fine. However, the monitor wasn't activated yet, so some stuffs can't be checked. So, I went back to Mr. Danaf and asked him for a test drive. He gave me a whole day for the test drive. As a result, the monitor was active, and everything was fine. So, at the end, I said, "it's very nice of you to let me have the test drive." He replied, "I want you to feel joyful about the car because you work hard for your money." Also, at the end, he gave me a discount on something needed to be replaced right away. What an experience! I felt zero pressure during my time at auto land. Auto Land, you got my recommendation.
