The new manager took a look at the car and called me.. basically said he was having a better day than I was, and said that the flat tire was not pluggable, and I had to buy four tires since the car was all-wheel-drive. I explained to him that I already purchased tires and I only needed one. He proceeded to tell me that they checked all my tires and they all need to be replaced and there was a piece of metal in one which nobody ever showed me.. so after arguing back-and-forth with this manager, who's telling me I have to purchase four tires or else I cannot get tires at Mavis. We settled on purchasing two tires. I explained to the gentleman that it just wasn't the time for me to be able to purchase four tires at once and he proceeded to try to sell me a warranty on the two tires I was purchasing. He was rude. He had no compassion and if I could've had my car towed somewhere else to buy the tires I would've but at that point I had already paid have a tow truck driver dropped the car off there. This manager also kind of laughed at me and told me that my brakes were 90% worn down. I immediately took my car somewhere else and my brakes were not 90% worn down so on top of everything they lied to me to get more business. I have used Mavis for so many years and I will never bring my car back there due to that manager

Gil farmed my work out to a specialist which I was ok with. I was promised to be charged his shop price- cool. What happened next was completely out of Gil's control. The other shop kept my truck for 2 weeks due to some snafu regarding parts for the repair. It was frustrating for me because it was my work truck. During one of our discussions, I told Gil I may have to rent a car for the weekend. He offered to help with that as he felt bad that the other shop was taking so long. ( Gil was frustrated too with dealing with the other shop) At one point Gil told me to deal with the other shop by myself. When my truck was finally finished I paid a higher price than what was quoted because I was no longer getting Gil's shop price. Gil offered to make up the difference but then reneged on that offer saying he couldn't do it. As I had to have a fluid change at 500 miles I asked if he would do it and he agreed to for only the price of the materials. Well, today my truck was ready for pick up and he quoted me a price that clearly included labor charges. When I reminded him that he agreed to do the job for the price of materials he kept reciting excuses why he couldn't. He finally relented and I got the price HE originally agreed to. I never held Gil and Jayne accountable for the misgivings of the other shop, and I told them that. A to Z has done some good work on my truck at a reasonable price and in a timely manner. This is why I went back to them. I certainly trust the quality of their work, but this? Three broken promises is a bit too much for me to accept. I finally found a decent mechanic and now, unfortunately, I have to find another.

I believe we can all collectively agree that pumping gas is not a difficult job. However in our…read morefine state, NJ deems it must be done by an Attendant rather than by yourself. So when you pull up to the pump and say "fill it with supreme" you trust you will get what you asked for. I did not. My car has after market parts and a tune that requires 93 octane fuel or it will not not run properly and I could even damage the engine. So imagine my reaction when I learned the Attendant had put regular fuel in my car even after confirming that I said "premium" . I was upset to say the least and when I confronted him about this he said "you should be fine, what can you do?". Even after I informed him of my need for 93 he maintained his nonchalant reaction and didn't offer to help in any way. There is an Exxon a couple blocks down the road that is actaully cheaper than this one but I always went to this one to support the family run station. No longer. You have permanently lost a customer.

The technician here was quick and got me, and my jeep in and out of the service bay quick. The gas prices were a little high but what can you expect in a tourist area by the beach. All in all I vote an A for service. It seemed to be a family run business where the owners are local residents and the gas attendants were local high school kids.. I was worried it might be something serious, so I brought it in to have it checked out. They took the time to inspect everything and initially ordered a part they thought was needed. When that part turned out to be incorrect, instead of pushing for extra work or costs, they found another way to fix the issue and completely resolved the problem. What really stood out to me was their honesty and integrity: they didn't charge me anything. Not for the repair, not for labor, nothing. I even offered to pay or at least bring lunch as a thank you, and they just were happy they could help me. It's rare to find people who are this genuine and customer-focused. If you're looking for a trustworthy, skilled, and kind mechanic, I highly recommend them. They've definitely earned my business going forward!
