My good friend highly recommended Doug and like others have also mentioned, I am happy to report, I have found my forever mechanic. I went in to diagnose jerking, poor acceleration and noticeably poor MPG and Doug got back to me within 30 mins of dropping my car off not only making an incredibly accurate diagnosis, he was also honest enough to check the honda service bulletins to check if this was a known issue and sure enough it was! He was kind enough to print out the bulletin, put my complaint and diagnostic in writing and honest enough to send me off to the honda garage so it would be taken care of under the bulletins extended warranty. Other than a small diagnosis charge which was incredibly reasonable Honda agreed with his diagnosis and the repair cost me ZERO. If you are looking for an honest, skilled and talented mechanic, look no further. Doug was an all round joy to talk to and communicate with and everything was explained well and he answered any questions I had with kindness, patience and professionalism. Highly recommend!! read more

This is just to report that Doug has retired. I found this body shop from Yelp and realized that his clients have transitioned to another auto shop. Please confirm address of your service. The new body shop seems nice and will review later. read more

Excellent customer service and honest. You know he's not taking advantage of you like so many other places. Only one I'd trust with my car. Thank you Doug for being the best!! read more

I stopped by and Doug helped me quickly and successfully without even charging me! Will definitely be going back to him!

Doug helped fix my acura mdx 2008. He was very friendly and helpful. My battery kept draining overnight and i would have to jumpstart it each day. Doug found the problem (was a electrical issue bluetooth drainage - so he shut it off) and fixed it and then recharged my battery overnight to full capacity. Car has been starting every time since. Thank you. read more

Good service, nice people. A bit pricey perhaps, but if the job is done right then giving a bit more is not a big deal, for sure.

I highly recommend Auto Care By Doug, such a great service every time I've taken every one of my cars to Doug. This team is very efficient and professional and very honest and reasonable. Doug is always ready to help you out when you have a car need. 5 Star Rating Every Time!!!!! Doug is the best! read more

Made a morning appointment for A/C diagnosis 3 days in advance. Was told I could pick up car same day. 5:30 rolled by nothing. Called, was told would be done at 6pm. Showed up 6 waited 20 minutes. No work done due to mechanical issues with shop equipment. Left car over night. Picked car up with no improvements and $300 less in my pocket for diagnosis and refrigerant refill. I am told that's normal for the mechanics time and material. So it wasn't anything to get butt hurt over. However, when driving off I noticed 1/16th less gas in my tank AND my electronically controlled suspension was changed form Touring to Sport. It's a turbo charged sports car. I can only imagine how hard they drove my car. My fault I should have reset the peak boost level to zero to then be able to know how much fun their joy ride was. On the bright side, Doug seemed like a nice guy and I believe he gave me a competitive quote for the work I needed done. On the dark side, I won't be going back to them for said work. read more

if you need auto care for your Acura in particular or for your car of any other make you need look no further than Auto Care by Doug. He is knowledgeable and patient with those of us who do not know much about cars. He is thorough and really does care for your car. I have been to him three times now and each time he has cared for my car well. I would go to Doug first for anything regarding my Acura RL! read more

I had a great experience with Doug! I have a 20 year old Acura and the clutch finally went out.I was told he was a specialist who worked on Acuras and I couldn't have been more happy with his work! He was professional and fast and a great communicator! Feel very lucky to have been referred to him and feel great about the work he did on my car!!! I am a very happy customer! read more

Just in for my "checkup" and service. Never thought I would like going to the car repair place, but Doug is so pleasant and so knowledgeable. He sourced and fixed a rattle that I forgot to mention and repaired a sticky window...at no extra charge. This facility is clean, the work areas are clean and I have never had my car returned with hand prints or grease smudges like the dealership. Keep up the great service. I highly recommend Acura by Doug. p.s. He is also doing my business partner's car which is a Lexus and the receptionists car which is a Honda. Again 5 stars! read more

I have been taking my cars to Doug for years now. He is great about keeping me on my maintenance schedule and teaches me how to take care of simple things myself. More importantly, Doug will let you know when you are pouring good money after bad. He recommended when we should part ways with my old car and helped me find a great used replacement. It is clear to me he wants long term customers. I trust him without question. Thanks Doug! read more

Awesome and fast great service! Doug's shop was suggested to me by a friend. It's hard to find a mechanic that you can trust in the bay area that won't rip you off. I had my Honda civic in because my lights were flickering funny so he determined it was an alternator issue. He gave me the option to get a high powered alternator or a regular one but suggested that I'd get the high powered one. I opted for the high powered one due to the sound system setup I have in the car. I had my car back by the next day and he even helped me tune my clutch at no extra charge! I've had my car here twice for some repairs and he's always taken care of me and given me fair advice on what to do with my car. If I have any more car issues, Doug will be seeing my car again. read more

Thanks to Yelp for helping me find yet another super star business. Now that my TSX is out of warranty, I wanted to switch to an independent mechanic and stop going to the dealer (disclaimer: Doug MAY do Acura warranty service too, I just made an assumption he didn't but it's worth checking). I found Doug and he's well worth the drive from SF. I had a broken HID light that he resolved for potentially hundreds less than the dealer, and was also very quick and gave me an accurate completion time estimate. He's honest, knows his stuff, and is very courteous and professional. The shop is super clean and easy to get to - right off 101. read more

I was super happy with my 45k mile service for a Lexus GX470. I found Doug on Yelp. Called him about 9am. Dropped my car off a little after 10am. I got a call around noon saying my front brakes needed replacement. I agreed. At 6:30 that day I picked my car up. On top of this, he helped me program my car for needed services, replaced a battery in my key and offered a 15% discount to first time customers. He is a one man company doing the work himself. I felt like I got great service at a fair price. I'll definitely go back for future services. read more

So if you have read my other reviews on Yelp, then you already know how meticulous I am. I first called Doug up on a seat that would not recline on my CL Type S. I was pretty upset about this, and the job was rather expensive, but Doug took care of it asap and much cheaper than the dealer. The second time I had an issue with my car was recently when it stalled out as I was driving! Sux! I immediately called Doug since he gained my trust on the 1st job, and boy was it an even better experience this time around. See the thing with Doug is he won't actually do work on your car UNLESS he feels like it needs it. For example, prior to this little issue that I had with my car stalling ,and being that my car was already over 90k (the recommended interval to change the timing belt) I called Doug and asked him if he could do it for me. After I told him I keep the car garaged, and that my Acura is mainly a night/weekend car, he honestly told me that I was o.k and my car did not need it yet. Who does that!!?!?!? What mechanic wouldn't jump at the opportunity to do a job that is easily close to $1000.00 bucks. Well, it sure as heck is not Doug Fabris. Ok well this review is getting kind of lengthy, so I brought my car in for Doug to look at it one evening. Being that I wasn't off until 6 p.m, he hung around til about 8 p.m to look at my car. After he got done diagnosing my car, he suggested I change the spark plugs and some other part of which I cannot recall at the moment. Anyhow, point being is that, again, what mechanic suggests you do your own work?!!? He didn't jump at the opportunity to do it for me. At that point and being that I am afraid to touch my own car, I asked Doug how much he would charge me to do that job and then I left my car there with him. When I picked my car up two days later, he gave me a discount, less than what he originally quoted me! That's all I have to say about Doug, if you want to take your car to the dealer and get raped go ahead, otherwise go to Acura by Doug, you will not be disappointed. Thanks for reading. P.S This is not a paid rant or rave. Ricky M. read more

How lucky did I get to call these guys instead of the Acura dealership!! My radio requires a secret code that I do not have.. Had to change my battery so everything was reset. Called up doug, swung by and he made my radio work again. He also told me what the funny sound my car was making. All at no cost. read more

What can I say. Doug is as honest as they come. He's affordable to. Just had a 90,000 mile service done and paid less than I thought I would. I will return for my next minor or major service here. read more

Doug's the best... Talk about a guy who really knows his stuff and is passionate about what he does. I've been taking our Honda Odyssey and Civic there for over 8 years now, and he's never let me down. When you think of a positive, knowledgeable, fun loving mechanic.... You think of Doug. Thanks for your honesty, integrity, and friendship over the years Doug. read more

Doug is awesome. I went to Doug to have a regular service on my car, he was affordable and quick. I went to Doug when a random dude on a bike decided to ride into my car, and he helped me find a good autobody. Anytime something weird happens with my car, Doug is the first guy I call. A ton of my friends are mechanics, and though it would be easy and cheap to use them, I trust Doug has my best interest, and my cars best interest at heart, that's why I keep coming back. read more

It's hard to find great small businesses these days and even harder to find a great mechanic. My husband and I both bought Acuras within the past year and were looking for someone that would be cost effective outside of the rip-off of the car dealership. Doug has become a personal friend to our family. We are always able to work out good times to get our car in based on our schedules and there is always great service. Finding Doug was a God send for our family and we wouldn't consider having anyone else to take care of our cars. Keep up the great work guys! read more

Wow this guy stuck by my side against these evil insurance companies that didn't want to honor my HID lighting damage that I deserve. His prices are much cheaper then Acura dealership and he is 10X more trustworthy then any other mechanics I have dealt with. With Doug's help I was able to locate the exact problem with the lighting damage and finally get the money from Geico to fix my 2003 Acura TL's front end damage. So if you ever have any problems with your Acura or Honda don't waste your money trying to take it to the rip off dealerships take it to Doug first. read more

Been taking my Acura RSX and my wife's Accord here for a few years now. Been nothing short of perfect each and every time. I'm lucky to work just down the street on Rollins Road, and Doug has driven me to my place of work, more than once when the weather has not been nice. The other business owner that shares the building is Mike. He is just as nice and professional. read more

Being retired from the car business, I know how important it is to use a factory trained mechanic. So I did my "insider" research. As it turns out, Doug is a factory trained Master Tech that specialized in return cases. Those are vehicles that have come back a couple of times, often from other dealerships on a factory referral. They are the tough cases that other mechanics could not diagnose, repair or complete. Well, THAT'S the guy I want working on my car!! Turns out, he now has his own shop, so off I went. Doug does not disappoint. He is courteous and knowledgeable with a very clean facility. Last time I came in for a scheduled service, he was on-time, handled my extra problem and even called in a guy to remove a door ding while my car was at his shop. I was thrilled that he considered my time and handled it all in one visit. Every time Doug has worked on my cars, he goes that extra mile. Because of that type of service and his extensive experience/training, I have no problem driving across the bay from Pleasanton. If you are reading these reviews, you're probably looking for a new or dependable shop. Being from that business I am pickier than most, so take it from me, you will not be disappointed. You will be able to drop off your car with no worries. This shop will remember your car, you get the same mechanic and service writer, the lot is secured, plus you are not working with a commissioned dealership so the prices are very fair. Oh and double plus, your car will never come back with grease smudges on the interior or dirty shoe smudges on the mats (my hot button). Give this place a try. Drop off your car with confidence, they'll never give you anything to worry about ....... until Doug decides to retire :( read more

After calling three separate times to Acura of Serramonte without any call back to have my fog light assembly replaced. I searcbed on yelp and found Acura by Doug. He was willing to do the job and set up next day appointment. He did an excellent job. Whenever I'm in the area, will definitely get my car serviced by Doug. read more

Doug was very helpful, honest, and fair. We talked with him about doing a pre-purchase inspection on an Acura we were very serious about. He made time in his schedule to see us the same day we called, which we appreciated because you kind of have to do that when you're making a purchase. He also described what he would do in the inspection and it was thorough enough that my husband became a fan as well. In the end we saw the car and decided it wasn't right for us so we didn't end up taking it in for the inspection. Still, Doug's phone consultation was a great support. read more

My husband and I have been going to Acura by Doug for a couple years. Doug was introduced to us as a referral. We love our Honda's and trusted our friend's opinions as well. Since they also had been going to this location and have been consistently happy we decided to give "Acura by Doug" a try. Yes, he also works on Honda's! Doug is and always has been extremely professional and courteous. The cars in our family have continued to run beautifully and we have never had a single problem. We appreciate Doug's up front and honest approach and his ability to complete the maintenance in a timely manner. We also appreciate that his pricing is alot more reasonable compared to the dealership, where we were taking our cars previously, especially in this economy!! We will continue to refer his business and we will continue coming back!! read more

My husband and I had a feeling Acura by Doug would be a good choice to make some major repairs on our 2005 Acura TL - AND IT SURE WAS!!! Not only was Doug fast, courteous and thorough, his personality was such that I knew immediately I could trust him. We had only owned the vehicle for 3 years and hadn't really had any repairs or major service performed and unfortunately it was that time. I located Acura by Doug via the internet and not only had Doug diagnosed our repairs correctly, he also went the extra distance to inform us about a critical recall by Acura regarding the power steering and because of that, saved us some major dollars. Doug's prices were wonderful and way below dealer costs and the outstanding customer service we received was superb. Our car now runs perfectly and if and when we have issues again, I will not hesitate to contact Acura by Doug. read more

Doug has been my mechanic for the past two years. I am very pleased with the service that he has provided for my car repairs and maintenance. So pleased that I trust him with all my cars - Acura, BMW, and Corvette (collector classic). He is a skilled technician who has been able to resolve all of my car repairs and maintenance in a timely, professional, and quality manner. I am especially pleased with the work that he performed for addressing a rough idle and gas smell - it is great to know that not only is my car safe and reliable to drive, but is now more responsive. If I knew that this independent repair facility had all the tools and scanner devices that the dealerships have, I would have taken my cars to Acura By Doug years ago. read more

I brought my '03 TLS for 105,000 mile service. He is very professional and has a spotless shop. I will definitely use him again for service on all my cars. read more

After my dealership closed down a while back, I decided it was time to find a mechanic I could trust for my ongoing maintenance needs. I met Doug through friends and decided to give him a shot after hearing good things about his work. It turns out I made a very good decision. Doug has all the right connections to get the parts I need and the work has been excellent. He always takes the time afterward to explain what he has done in plain english. One more thing . . the cost has been consistantly lower than the dealers were. Doug wants my business and that makes a big difference for me. read more

I was looking for a mechanic for my wife's MDX i came across Acura by Doug on Yelp i read the reviews an was concerned about a review from Andrew G. So I looked at Andrews other reviews. Seems he is negative 50% of the time. Then I read the rest oh Acura by Doug's reviews which were all 5 star ratings. I took the time to visit the shop after work one day and checked it out. At first I liked the gated secure parking. I then walked into the shop and it is very clean and looked organized. I met Doug and after speaking for a few minutes I was pretty comfortable with his honesty and professionalism. I asked him about the review from Andrew G. And as we all know, there are always two sides of a story. Doug was happy to give me his side of the story. Long story short, as of today Doug has worked on my wifes car 4 times and every time she are satisfied. I've also had him work on my Camaro and Toyota truck with great results. Thanks Acura by Doug. read more

Doug solved my computer controlled power steering problem in one quick visit after the dealer had claimed it was a tire problem. Dealer didn't even bother to connect the car to the scanner. Doug quickly determined that by putting the car on the scanner he could reset the steering and fix the pull, which is what he did. Thank goodness for Doug, otherwise I would have been stuck with the dealer's inaction and lack of interest in solving my problem. read more

I never thought to post anything on here about the shop, but after seeing these 2 reviews saying how awesome Doug's shop was... I had to put in my two cents. I got screwed for about $6-7000. I went in there because I thought I bent my valves... I did a diagnostic at autozone, and based on the codes and what others told me... I made the conclusion that my valves were bent. I took the car to Acura by Doug assuming it would cost around $2000. He calls me back basically saying, great news it isn't your valves! Here I am thinking Doug just saved me all this money... puts the engine back together, then calls me later on in the day saying to me that it was indeed my valves and he would need to keep the car longer, as well as charge me even more for his mistake. FINALLY, the car is done... I go to pick up the car and Doug isn't there to give me a quick test drive. Instead, his partner releases the car to me. I drive the car off the lot into the street and it dies... I coast to the side of the road. I call Doug, and he has no idea why it would do that. Had to have my car towed back to the shop. Finally Doug checks out the car, and gets back to me. He tells me that it's going to cost an additional $3000 to fix something that wasn't even my fault. The only thing wrong was that I had bent valves. I could have replaced the entire engine for half the cost of what Doug charged me. I ended up getting my car back, and losing almost $7000. It doesn't end here... a week later I drove my car up El Camino... I rarely drive the car because I take public transportation during the week. As I'm driving, I start hearing a loud knocking sound... sounds pretty bad, like my engine is banging around. I refused to take the car back to Doug in fear of what he would f*ck up next. I find out that he didn't put all the screws back to mount the engine properly!!!!! I don't know if he did this on purpose to f*ck with me because I got so angry on the phone with him, but he did it. As much as I wanted to take Acura by Doug to small claims court, it would be another headache that I just didn't want. Hope that this message helps anyone who is looking for a shop to go to. Don't go to Acura by Doug. Maybe for little things like an oil change, it aint a big deal, but for anything serious, i wouldn't trust him. Not that Doug is a bad guy, I got the sense that he is a good guy... and I hope that he truly is a good guy. I just don't think he really knows what he's doing. read more
