Auto Technicians - Auto Technicians in Midland, MI. Bob hard at work!

    Auto Technicians

I have chosen to give the care of my vehicle to Auto Technicians after hearing a lot of word of…read moremouth positive reviews of the company. My truck, a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, has a fairly high number of miles yet it continues to run incredibly smooth thanks to the Bob and the guys at Auto Technicians. My first experience with them was a generic overhaul of my truck, providing them with a great test to verify their honesty and their integrity. I brought it in, asked them to go over everything and let me know what all I needed to do to allow me a couple more years of service out of it. I expected to hear back an impossibly high number given the age and mileage. I also knew of a couple of problems the vehicle was having, but withheld the information in the hopes they would find it. They did so, but the actual cause of the trouble was not what I thought it was so they actually saved me quite a bit of money in repairing that. They also found several items that were also in need of repair, some more important and some less. They quoted me a price that was extremely reasonable for the repair work done. A day or so into the repair, they found something wrong with the vehicle that they had missed but it was something that I brought up to them originally. They apologized for missing it and made it right for me by only charging me for the parts, not the labor on that particular repair. I didn't request it at all, as I didn't really feel like it was a failure on their part since they did find it eventually even though it wasn't part of the estimated price. They simply wanted to make it right for me. To me, that speaks volumes to their integrity and honesty. Once the repair was finished, I came in under the new estimated cost with the added repair as they were able to find a couple savings on parts. A+ as far as I am concerned. My second repair done by them was very recently my Coolant refused to stay within my vehicle and as they found out my radiator had come apart, as is apparently quite common with Mountaineers. They provided me an estimate that seemed fair, others I know that have had replacements had paid 500+ for theirs. They performed the work in a day and I had it back the morning after. It was an exceptional job as had been done previously and my car is back to running like a champ. I would recommend Auto Technicians, they are honest, quiet reasonable turnaround times for as popular as they are, and are very easy to work with.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here warrants a clear warning to others…read more I brought my vehicle in for what was supposed to be a straightforward repair and then heard almost nothing for 10 days. Communication was extremely limited--calls and messages largely went unanswered, and I was given little to no meaningful updates about the status of my car. After waiting over a week with no progress and no clear answers, I finally went to pick up my vehicle--only to find that absolutely no work had been done. Despite initial assurances, it became clear that nothing had even been started. When I tried to get an explanation, I was met with a dismissive and unprofessional attitude rather than any accountability. The lack of transparency, combined with the poor communication and apparent indifference, made the entire experience incredibly disappointing. Leaving a customer without their vehicle for 10 days with no work completed and minimal communication is simply unacceptable. I would strongly caution others before trusting this shop with their time or vehicle.

But I took it to His Hands, and they worked closely with me to get an engine that would work with my budget. Saved a ton of money! Thankful for the manager, Mike and his staff. First, I made an appointment to have my car looked at, I then called a tow truck to get it there…read more3weeks later, because that was the soonest they had. The car arrived the evening before the appointment was scheduled for with our information. My husband called the afternoon of our appointment to get a progress report, and was told they would "try" to get to it the next day. Because we didn't call them again to remind these people of the appointment they should have had in there books! Second, the total cost that was given to us for the estimate was MUCH higher than any other mechanics. I called to let them know that we would be sending a tow truck to pickup the car and was told I owed $75 for the diagnosis. This is after being spoken to very rudely by the secretary. I started to ask the man if he had informed my husband of this bill when they spoke (just so I would know if I had to tell him) and this man went crazy! He would not let me speak, he yelled "do you work for nothing?" He was incredibly disrespectful and rude to me. Even when I was finally able to make this person understand my simple question, he continued to be rude. When I told him how rude he was being, not to mention the secretary, he just announced that there were other customers that she needed to talk to. Let me assure you, Sir...no I do not work for nothing, but I do work in customer service, and if I ever had even a fraction of the attitude I've gotten from your business, I'd be terminated, and rightfully so!
