For those of you who are not acquainted with Lao cuisine check out Star Lao as a first experience, you know what they say about first impressions! My staples... Lao 'Som Tum' Paw Paw Salad - Traditional salad dish of shredded paw paw, carrots, cherry tomatoes, dried shrimp in a salty, spicy, sour crab paste sauce. Must get it spicy otherwise it can be a little pungent Lao Sausage - Seasoned with Lao flavourings & sticky rice, again salty, sour & spicy with sour/spicy fish sauce dip Grilled Ox Tongue - Perfectly tender and succulent grilled Ox tongue with sour/spicy fish sauce dip Chicken Feet Salad - crunchy clean chicken feet (don't let the toes gross u out haha) mixed with Asian herbs, carrots, red onion in a spicy sour fish sauce Green Chicken Curry - they sure do keep it literal as this place rocks the greenest green curry I've ever seen! I've been told they use spinach to give it the bright green colour but when it's this good is even gobble it down if it were purple! Grilled Pork Belly - A little indulgent with all the fat but oh so worth it. Lightly battered and grilled leaving a thin crispy covering before it melts away into your mouth. Dishes average $8-10, an absolute steal!

Soon I will have eaten at more than ten Vietnamese places in Cabramatta. I dont think I've even scratched the surface. This place is food heaven and the Rice Paper Rolls I had today are the best I've ever had. I saw this place on some foodies "Ten top food experiences in Sydney". He was right, the do it yourself vietnamese rolls are fantastic, I even watched a table of kids making them. The food and service here is pure Gold Logie stuff, but the entertainment is atrocious !

After we ordered, it only took them less than 10 minutes to serve our order. I was impressed since they have lots of customers to be serve. I thought it was only us, but when I was watching them serves other customers they were really quick. The food that we ordered tasted really good. The beef noodle soup that I ordered really taste good, it's not that oily like some other noodle soup that I had tasted. And I really like the make your own spring roll thing, I guess that dish is famous in that place since most tables I saw has it. And the grilled shrimp/fish cake on it was really awesome. You must really try it. That's the only unusual dish I saw on a Pho restaurant. The crispy chicken was also good, but I guess it's too common. The prices are reasonable, it's not to high it's not too low, it's just alright. This place is at Cabramatta market, so expect that it's a busy place. There's no parking on the street so you gotta park on the nearest parking lot.

Loved loved loved this place!…read more Canley Vale is such a great place to enjoy fantastic food in funky restaurants out in the burbs. Sitney is one of the newest and I think one of its best. Food, service and ambience were all excellent! My top picks were the soft shell crab papaya salad, roasted duck curry and the chicken skewers. I know chicken skewers are nothing to normally rave about but these were the best I have ever had. Come and try this place I promise you won't regret it! Did I mention...... The service is friendly and mostly efficient, which is always pleasing! Now onto the food. Oh yes oh yes oh yes. Silence was all you heard because everyone was busy eating. The occasional moan and "this is good" is how I'd describe the atmosphere. They could do no wrong. Deep fried papaya salad - I've had a lot of thai food before (in Thailand too) and I have never come across such dish. It was a true stroke of genius because this was just unbelievable. So incredible how the flavours worked and how crispy the papaya was. 10 stars out of 5!! The ox tongue was so tender and perfectly cooked - this is an absolute must. The crispy barramundi with mango salad was excellent too - fish was perfectly cooked, presentation was on par and the salad was well dressed. Let me hear you say pad thai! Cause this place serves some of the best you'll eat. The noodles were extremely well fried and the taste was of course amazing. The duck curry!!! There was pineapple and lychees in it with a strong coconut flavour. A perfect thai curry and the duck was well cooked too. There's a perfect balance of spices in the lao sausages as well! Only dishes that was not of the high standard as the others was the pineapple fried rice - it was a tiny bit soggy and not as good as some I've had. The fried ice cream also wasn't good - it did not have that crispy outside and was way too oily. Either way, I'm definitely coming back again! Love, love and love!

They keep it simple and traditional here with the usual Laotian fare and they do it pretty tantalisingly well! My mouth waters just thinking of of the spicy pungent flavours... It's an acquired taste but I can say that if I were on death row my last meal request would be a spicy Som Tum and Lao sausage. If you love your chilli and an amalgamation of sour, salty, spicy and sweet U will love Laotian cuisine. My recommendations: Som Tum: shredded ow paw salad with smashed cherry tomatoes and fermented crab. The textures, freshness and combination of all base flavours make this a definite staple and perfect accompany to all the grilled meats on offer Lao Sausage: wonderfully soft and slightly chewy bit crisp on the outside. Hints of lemon grass and Asian herbs Ox Tongue: grilled to perfection, thinly crisp with a succulent centre ready to soak up the salty spicy dipping sauce Chicken Feet Salad: sounds a little horrid but once you get past the whole chicken feet thing you'll find a refreshing, flavoursome and textural salad that will leave you with a new view of chicken feet. To accompany all this get a mini bucket of sticky rice to go with your meal, that's how the Lao do it! Ambience here is a little kitsch which denotes why it's 4 and not 5 stars but we're here for the food not the ambience.

We went there for dinner and to do some work on a website, no Wi-Fi so I asked to borrow a charming cable, girl said no so as we walked out she amazingly found a phone charger to lend me so I could connect to my phone Wi-Fi. After a meal consisting of a very bland and almost 100% poured from a tin 'Laksa' where the chicken was as soft as fish ( like tinned laksa) the very dry and oily sate sticks arrived as tough as beef but I found out was supposed to be tender chicken (no way). The soft shell crab dish was $9 for six small oily pieces and an extra $10 for the few bits of bagged salad. No one asked us for drinks for the 45minutes we waited for food After we ate and left most on the plates staff took away the plates but did not attempt to wipe the food off the table. ( no table cloth) When we went to pay my friend asked why they didn't wipe food off the table where she was told 'you never asked '. She was then insulted about her lack of knowledge of food etc and told the food was perfect. She told the owner standing with his arms folded to apologise to her for being so rude and he yelled he was sorry in a very Insincere manner. Even saying 'do you want me to get on my knees and beg forgiveness? " She said, and the entire restaurant of three full tables herd him verbally abuse my friends who by now was about to explode where she told the owner he should treat his customers who pay him with respect and treat everyone as a king or queen. The reply shocked me when he said " you are not a king and doubt you will ever be a queen now pay and leave as I don't want customers like you who complain." Not cool dude! Absolute narssacism at its worst. To pick on a customer like that wow. One star because you don't have zero. No spice (but the owner) no aroma but the smell of cigarettes from staff .

Located in the most unlikely of locations this stand alone restaurant does pretty well even with Holy Basil being a mere 3 min drive away. Lines a plenty during peak food times so make sure to book. FOOD I've been meaning to check out this place for awhile and see how it stacks up against Holy Basil. The similarities are endless from the modern wooden decor to their filo pastry deep fried ice-cream which I unfortunately was too tired to stick around to try. I know me? what? too tired for food? noway!! Trying to stay clear of the normal Thai dishes I order, dinner consisted of - Crying Tiger/Grilled Beef ($9.90 -NAY (definitely left me crying as it didn't taste like beef!) - Chicken Choo-Chee Curry ($11.90) - YAY - Pork Satay Noodle ($11.90) - HMMMM... - Sticky Rice ($3) - YAY - Green Milk Tea ($4) - YAY OVERALL The atmosphere is just like any other modern Thai restaurant (think Home, Chat Thai, Red Spoon) so my rating is very heavily weighted towards food. Unfortunately with a lot of these Thai restaurants it comes down to food selection. Select the right meals and you could have a 4/5 star experience. Select the wrong ones and your back to a 3 or worse case 2. Trying to be different and adventurous in this instance has caused a lower rating. I would recommend this as a place to try though. I will however be back. Pandan Fried Ice-cream wait for me!
