The QiGong portion of class is very calming and grounding. If you aren't able to stand for the entire session there is an option to sit in a chair and achieve the same energetic benefits. The Tai Chi section of class is split into beginner and advanced levels. Sensei Nishida is great to make sure you understand the concepts and forms in order to attain the maximum benefits from this healing martial art form. The dojo is always clean and lots of windows and beautiful trees. My favorite part of this community is the diversity of ages, races and backgrounds who all come together to focus on making the world a better place-starting with ourselves. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to bring more peace and calm Into your life, physical strength and balance and focus to the mind. Since Covid they now offer live zoom sessions and in person dojo classes require mask, temperature check and social distancing to keep everyone safe.

Best gym experience…read more I'm so glad a friend introduced me to MindSet Fitness and Yoga. I started doing circuit training, which I had never done before. I walk and bike ride and garden, but really needed to build up strength and flexibility. Some gyms I had tried before were not informed about what types of exercise someone in their 60's is capable of and they were not great with adapting things to what I could do. Travis and the other trainers are so different. They encourage you to do your best, but are ready to adapt different exercises to your level. We go 2 to 3x a week and I can't believe the difference. You are never left on your own, someone is always there helping you and making sure you are not doing an exercise safely. Luis and Becky are so helpful. Here is another thing I really like. The circuit class is almost all day. You go when you can, you are never late to class, and you come when you can and warm up, then do the circuit for that day. It is different and challenging. Travis has adapted exercises for my husband too. His work with MS helps him with understanding any conditions or injuries. Yolanda's yoga class is also really great. She helps us stay strong and flexible. The friendly encouragement and fun from all the folks at the gym helps the workout go fast. The Ryan Family YMCA is smaller by comparison, but with a few extra amenities, such as an outdoor pool. The weight equipment also seems a lot newer than what I was accustomed to. Overall, I thought this particular YMCA was a good fit for the neighborhood it's located in; however, I may try to give the downtown location another chance. Who knows?!

They are putting cheap soap in the EcoLab soap dispensers... Just a lot of corners being cut here and the owners aren't reinvesting into the quality and maintenance of their facility
