The beef patties are made fresh to order AND so flavorful and the chutney served alongside was amazing. For entrees we ordered jerk chicken, Chicken tikka masala and goat curry. Each was exceptional - great portion sizes- truly a meal! For sides - we had the exceptional mac and cheese, cabbage, collar greens and bourbon yams. I can't say enough about how good the food is. We love it here! And the owner is there - checking on us and making sure everything was to our liking! Excellent food, excellent service - we will definitely be back again!

You can tell they actually care about the food they're putting out. It's a little small inside and parking is in the back if I remember correctly. It's low-key genius that they have Caribbean and Indian food together. I got the jerk chicken bowl. My daughter tried the the veggie biryani with garlic naan. We also grabbed a side of yams, I would actually die for them. Also, the plantains were perfectly sweet and caramelized. It's giving authentic, it's giving flavor, it's giving "I'm coming back next week." (I wish), we need this in California. If you're on Bardstown Rd and haven't been yet, you're actually missing out. 100% recommend grabbing a plate. NO pictures of the food but my tummy will always remember.

I've only been once, but we'll be back. We ordered and enjoyed the jerk chicken and curry goat. The chicken's jerk seasoning was very nicely balanced, served on a bed of rice and beans. The goat was excellent, though the bits of bone pose a bit of a challenge. We couldn't leave without trying a patty, and I might just fill up on those next time. If you get a side or two, be sure to try the cabbage. For the less adventurous, they serve burgers and fries too. Order and pay at the counter. No, there is no rooftop view. The name comes from the owner doing the grilling up there. If you're within half a block, your nose will tell you.

They need to get help so they can keep up with demand. I went around 1:45 and was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour depending on what I wanted. Next thing that was disappointing was the portions. I got the tiniest helping of cabbage and plantains. It was sad for a dinner portion. Cabbage doesn't cost much so they could've given more then they do. With that this place isn't an absolute must to try. If I'm in area and got time on my hands I might go back for curry chicken but otherwise I won't be back.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
