    I needed to get away from Old Town Altstadt. It is totally over run with tourists (like me). After…read morethe third night, it's time to bust out. Beethoven is about a mile east of altstadt and was worth the extra euro or two to go outside the tourist zone. The servers were super sweet to us. You can tell they don't get a lot of tourists here but they did their best to help translate the menu. The bread and French wine were wonderful and not too expensive. The shrimp with chile sauce was just fantastic. We also tried the chicken with the same sauce but it also came with a peanut dipping sauce. Perfect. The Italian fare was delicious. Pasta dishes were a nice change from the salty sausages we have eaten all week. Everyone had a great time at this charming little spot.

The patrons are a bit random.. We saw a young hipster couple in the corner, an old lady dressed elegantly, old man reading the newspaper, and a few groups. Complimentary bread was average, however the dip was surprisingly good. The color was off putting because it was an obnoxious kind of yellow but we actually liked it so much, we asked for more! Some of the breakfast portions were big, others weren't enough. The English Breakfast was great but the beans could've been warmer. The orange juice is freshly made so that's awesome! There are adorable looking cafés nearby as well. I want to check those out when I come back to Düsseldorf.
