Poor old Australia Post. They're really getting caned by modern times hey? Rather than being a letter delivery service, they're now in the "things you bought on the internet" delivery business and sadly their methods of dealing with this seem to have come a little too late because people have become fed up with archaic ways of doing business. To be honest for the last couple of years dealing with Australia Post has been like pulling teeth, and this particular branch has caused my blood pressure to rise on more than a few occasions. Ie. a parcel delivered to "Tresna L" was held captive because it didn't have my last name on it that matched my ID. I'm not sure how many Tresna's you know, but this is a demonstration of some of the difficult customer service I experienced. Trying to get a parcel for my 4 year old step daughter (who obviously doesn't have ID and couldn't "Sign" the parcel over to us to collect) was even more trying. Getting a parcel delivery card in my mail box seriously sends dread in to me every time because I know I'll have to venture here. But, it's not all doom and gloom. The reason I'm giving Australia Post 3 stars today is because lately they have noticeably lifted their game in the proactive customer service department. On picking up a parcel yesterday I was given a form that I could use to get myself a Australia Post ID card that would keep track of my parcels and also act as my proof of ID for future parcels. Last week I was asked if wanted my receipt emailed to me. What! Email? I was so impressed but then got home to find out I had to register for an account to be able to get my receipt. It's a step in the right direction and at least it shows that as an organisation they're trying to get with the times, but there's still some small flaws. Why make it hard for me to get my receipt? Just email me! The customer service at this particular branch is hit and miss. You either get efficient, friendly and proactive service or slightly surly and "gate keeper" like service. I hesitated to give my first ever 1-star review but I have to be honest, dear Yelpers. I've used a lot of post offices in my time but this is some of the worst customer service I've ever had. Until recently this was my local post office, so I had no other option most of the time. For your general services (picking up packages, buying supplies) they were ok, though they did misplace my packages once or twice. However for anything beyond that, I wouldn't recommend them. A few examples: I went in here to have a new passport photo taken, time was of the essence as I needed to travel in the next 6 weeks. I got the photo done by the staff member, who said it would meet all guidelines. Cool. So had it signed by my guarantor and took it back to be (rush) processed. Same post office, different staff member. Who informed me the photo didn't match the correct measurements. "But you took it here and told me it was ok". Well, it wasn't. Ok, hassle, but let's just take a new one. So ensued the next HOUR AND A HALF of my life being taken up by an inept staff member taking my photo - then rejecting it as incorrect - EIGHT separate times. By the end of the process I did not look very happy to be having my picture taken, and was even charged for it again. Eventually 1 passed the grade and I took it back to my guarantor (again) to re-sign, which delayed the process by at least 4 days. Another example: went in to have a financial form signed in order to get a large and very important payment through. The man behind the Post Office counter - an older man with glasses - refused to sign/ accept the form, even though I had already spoken to the financial institution regarding what ID I needed to provide, he said I didn't have the correct ID and he didn't want to "perjure himself". He was quite rude about it. I explained the conversation I'd had and how important it was, but no dice. Which meant my money was stuck :( So, I walked down to Fitzroy South Post Office instead - they signed and accepted the form within two minutes. read more

No star visit. What a dump of a place, everytime you go there you dont know what kind of experience you are in for. today.. all i wanted to do was post christmas presents interstate. Just holding a basket full of stuff in line, the man behind the desk can see they are heavy and invites me to put them on the bench while i wait.. i thought it was going to be ok....... NO then i get to the front, got served by someone identical to roz from monsters inc and she tells me I need to pick a box first. COULD YOU NOT SEE I WAS HOLDING A BUNCH OF STUFF AND YOU COULDNT SAY HEY YOU NEED TO FIND A BOX BEFORE YOU GET TO THE FRONT???? clearly i dont frequent the post office all that often to know. you guys lack customer service and normal people skills. This post office is the stuff Kafka-esque nightmares are made of. Recently, I needed to get a money order for a rental deposit and decided to get it done at this post office, a decision I still regret to this day. Here's how that encounter went down: I walk up to the counter. "Hi, I'd like to get a money order please." Post Office Guy: "Sure. For how much?" Me: "X dollars, please." POG: "Ok, just a moment." POG walks away and heads to the back ostensibly to get the money order. He comes back after a few moments. POG: "How much was that for again?" Me: "X dollars." POG: "Ok." He starts rustling around behind the counter, I guess to find a money order? Who knows. After some rustling, he finally finds what he needs. "Can you fill this out please? How much was this for?" Me: "Yes. X dollars." Sigh. I start filling it out then I give it back. POG starts typing away at the computer. He gets a bit flustered because the computer is running really slowly (for some reason their computers are prone to freezing). Finally everything seems ready to go. POG: "Ok, so it's X dollars plus the fee. That comes out to Y dollars. How are you paying?" Me: "Do you take American Express?" POG: "Yes." Me: "Ok." So I put the card into the reader and the machine gives me an error. "It doesn't seem to be working." POG: "Hmm." POG fiddles with the computer and then asks me to try it again. No dice. POG: "What kind of card is this?" Me: "American Express." POG: "We don't take American Express." Me: "But you just said... Ok fine. Can I pay using a Visa?" POG: "Yes." Me: "Ok." I pull that card out and put it into the reader. Same error message. POG fiddles with the computer again and asks me to try it again. Rinse, wash, repeat, still no dice. POG: "Is this a credit card?" Me: "Um, yes, it's a Visa." POG: "You can't pay for a money order using a credit card." Me: "Wait... what? But I told you I was paying on a credit card and you said it was ok!" POG: "No. You need to use cash or a debit card." Me: "But you never said that..." &#*$@&$^! I start grinding my teeth. At this point this money order debacle has been going on for about 30 minutes already when this whole thing should not have taken more than 5 minutes tops. I angrily swipe my debit card, grab the money order and storm out, vowing never to return to this god forsaken place (a promise I haven't been able to keep since this post office is just too close and convenient). If you need stamps or prepaid envelopes or something simple, you can probably get in and out without too much difficulty. But if it's something more complicated then I highly recommend you visit another post office - unless you don't value your time and/or sanity. read more

My god this is the worst post office. They lose my item every time and I'm stuck there having to wait for 20mins while 3 staff member jabber on about where it might be. Then today I'm told it's at a totally different post office but they used their address card. "Whoops sorry" NO! read more

Worst post office ever. They are cold. not flexible. pick on the smallest things to reject your application. Not able to use COMMON SENSE about simple matters. I was asked to get my guarantor to fill in "0" years (he left it blank) and put in 2 months. My son is ONLY 2 months old! how can you know him for longer!!!! IDIOTS! And then i got rejected again for a minor mark which had to be initialed. You'd think they check the document ONCE and let you know all that is wrong rather than go back and forth. read more
