I hesitated to give my first ever 1-star review but I have to be honest, dear Yelpers. I've used a lot of post offices in my time but this is some of the worst customer service I've ever had.
Until recently this was my local post office, so I had no other option most of the time. For your general services (picking up packages, buying supplies) they were ok, though they did misplace my packages once or twice. However for anything beyond that, I wouldn't recommend them. A few examples:
I went in here to have a new passport photo taken, time was of the essence as I needed to travel in the next 6 weeks. I got the photo done by the staff member, who said it would meet all guidelines. Cool. So had it signed by my guarantor and took it back to be (rush) processed.
Same post office, different staff member. Who informed me the photo didn't match the correct measurements. "But you took it here and told me it was ok". Well, it wasn't. Ok, hassle, but let's just take a new one.
So ensued the next HOUR AND A HALF of my life being taken up by an inept staff member taking my photo - then rejecting it as incorrect - EIGHT separate times. By the end of the process I did not look very happy to be having my picture taken, and was even charged for it again. Eventually 1 passed the grade and I took it back to my guarantor (again) to re-sign, which delayed the process by at least 4 days.
Another example: went in to have a financial form signed in order to get a large and very important payment through. The man behind the Post Office counter - an older man with glasses - refused to sign/ accept the form, even though I had already spoken to the financial institution regarding what ID I needed to provide, he said I didn't have the correct ID and he didn't want to "perjure himself". He was quite rude about it. I explained the conversation I'd had and how important it was, but no dice. Which meant my money was stuck :(
So, I walked down to Fitzroy South Post Office instead - they signed and accepted the form within two minutes. read more
