That ain't country. These guys sound more like pop music or contemporary. It's all about love and stuff, where country music is generally sorta the opposite- their songs don't have any mention of prison, mamma, trucks, or gettin' drunk. So many commercials! It all sounds so formulaic. There's no personality to this corporate radio station. I don't ever hear any local musicians on here. Messing up country music in the Live Music Capital of the World is like messing with Texas. Keep turning that dial...

You see, this was my favorite station when I lived in Texas, and after having visited Austin for the weekend, I decided to Yelp about it. It's not a "pure" local country station. It's corporate - part of Clear Channel. But I don't care... so long as it has good country music. (Corporations aren't bad just because they're successful at what they do.)I've been starved of my Country music since our bay area country station went off the air, so this was a breath of fresh air. To be honest, I prefer Tennessee Country to Texas Country (I know, shame on me,) and for those who don't know, most every one of the nationally known Country artists are Tennessee Country. You know, the ones that head to Memphis in search of stardom. Anyway I do miss the city. So I'll admit part of this review is nostalgia. But I had my radio tuned to KASE for my entire weekend... except for a short stint on some other country station that billed itself as Austin's own radio station, except after accidentally setting KASE to the preset that the other station was on, I couldn't find it again. Five stars for "will always listen to this when I'm in town. And will listen to it online whenever I need my country fix."

The Austin American Statesman is the local newspaper for the Austin area. They've also got a…read morewebsite that does a pretty good job. The reporting tends to be a bit on the conservative side. They do some investigative journalism and get into the issues. Being that they're in the center of Texas politics, it's their responsibility to find out what's going on in the branches of Texas government. I feel that they do a fair job at this. They seem to be a lot more conservative than the populace of Austin is, advocating for a conservative approach to government. There's a lot of ads in here, and it seems to be overtaking the news. I wish they'd expand the cartoon section. I've never subscribed to this paper, but I always read it when I'm in town.

RSVP process was a gigantic waste of time, no one was directing parking, cops were completely useless, no communication to the waiting crowd to get on shuttles, shuttles came in a group of 2 or 3 every half hour to hour.... rare? you really bit off more than you could chew. sorry but you just fell your way back to 1 star. i'm on a boycott now of rare magazine AND dos equis. you both just wasted a lot of people's time.

It's harder to find than the Observer, but is also available online. You can even get a weekly subscription mailed to you. I always like to quote Onion articles and statistics. They're the most reliable.
