A whole publication about music in the Lone Star State!
This publication seems to be done by a big fan of country and western, as that's what a lot of the music in here is. They're also focusing heavily on the Austin area with their acts. There's not a lot of mention of acts coming through the rest of the Lone Star State. I wouldn't rely upon this newspaper if you lived in, say El Paso.
The articles are a lot of interviews with up and coming musicians, asking them what their influences are, how long they've been playing, etc. It can be a bit difficult to get the gist of a music act through written word, but they do a good job of explaining the music.
It's a good place to see who's touring around Texas, and to find out about new album releases. Since they're mainly representing the Live Music Capitol of the World, they do a fantastic job of covering the live entertainment schedule, on a long term basis. The Chronicle does a better job of telling who's playing where and when on a weekly basis.
If you're into Texas country and western music in the Austin area, this is your publication. I always find it available for free at Waterloo Records on 6th and Lamar. read more
