Where to start about our home buying experience. First off - we rented from Laura and Welcome Home Leasing for years, so when we decided to purchase our first home we knew we had to use Austin Rock City Realty and Laura as our realtors. We managed to find a house the first weekend we went looking and Laura was on top of it and got everything submitted that day. To our pain we were pitted against another buyer and Laura was there for us through the entire process - basically a home buying therapist. HA! We didn't want a bidding war, so we didn't end up purchasing the first house. (I'll also say that the broker Laura uses is amazing and because she utilizes and contracts different people for her other rental properties - listen to her when she recommends someone! She does not do it lightly!) The next weekend, Laura was more than willing to drive us around again to go exploring and then we found it. The home that would be ours! I truly believe that Laura's connections she has cultivated in the realty community as well as old Austin, along with her GET IT DONE NOW attitude is the reason why we own our home today. Laura is extremely knowledgeable about weird things that I wouldn't even think to ask about or look at when buying a home - down to the landscape and trees! The last thing I can say about using Austin Rock City realty and Laura, is that there isn't any BS. She is very straight forward and open on whether or not she thinks something is a good deal or not, which is extremely refreshing in an industry where everyone is just trying to make a buck. She'll do what it takes, as long as it takes, to find you the perfect house -- and we are so fortunate to have used Laura's services. (P.S. This was my first time looking for a home to buy instead of looking for a place to rent. I knew nothing about nothing. No idea what to look for or how the process works. I couldn't have picked a better realtor than Laura. She is a pro. Laura has been in the game a long time and she knows all of the tricks of the trade. She has an excellent eye to spot what is good about a property as well as it's flaws. Laura can point out red flags and dangers of a home just from the photos that are posted. She is not fooled by the endless ways sellers try to cover up the things they don't want you to see. Laura is patient and clearly loves what she does. Laura is as tough as an old punk rocker roller derby mom can be. She is great at spotting BS and squashing the BS. Does not beat around the bush. She will fight for ya. Her help and concern doesn't end at the closing. She coached me through the whole house buying process and Laura continues to keep me informed of important dates and things that I should be aware of months after closing. I don't think anyone fully understands how stressful the house buying process can be until they go through it the first time. Laura is the best!! She knows Austin so well, has her finger on the next hot neighborhood, where the good deals are, has a wonderful team including a home inspector, and an amazing mortgage broker that worked magic to get my closing done in record time. In addition to all that, her experience in leasing homes and apartments means that, chances are, she knows the house you want to buy as was the case for me! She had actually been the leasing manager, knew it's history of flooding and a faulty foundation as well as the crappy company that did the foundation! She said we were lucky that I was outbid but at the time I was crushed that I didn't get my dream home and wanted to stop looking. In 2018 we bought a new home and decided to try renting our old one. We reviewed our options and contracted out management of the property. Laura and her team at Rock and Roll came highly recommended by friends and have been excellent partners through the entire process. There was so much to learn and do to make this happen! We would have had a very difficult time figuring it all out through trial and error. Contracts, risk management, repairs, tenant vetting, lease negotiation... Laura even took the time to remind us about things like changing our homestead exemption. Just finding service people is a huge job. We've gotten burned by sub-par work In the past, but Laura has worked with her sources for years so she knows they're good and gets discounts. The placement and management fees are very reasonable, considering all the hours we would be spending otherwise.
